Parks The City of Hugo owns and maintains 18 parks totaling 400 acres. This does not include unimproved City-owned properties that may be available for public use. For a complete list of public lands and parks go to www.ci.hugo.mn.us/parks_rec. City parks are open for public use between the hours of 6:00 am and 11:00 pm, unless otherwise posted. Motorized vehicles are prohibited beyond designated parking lots. Dogs must be on a leash unless the park is a passive park. We hope that you enjoy and take care of Hugo’s growing parks and trails system.

Trails The City of Hugo maintains over 30 miles of local trails and sidewalks for recreational use and options of alternative transportation. Hardwood Creek Regional Trail follows Highway 61 and provides a connection between local and regional trails. The paved portion is for bikers, hikers, and in-line skaters and the adjacent turf trail portion is for horses in the summer and snowmobiles in the winter. The trail is part of the North Star Route, which provides a way to bike from Minnesota’s StateCapitol in St. Paul to the Canadian border through Duluth.
