INSTRUCTIONSThe Stitches

Written in US term

magic ringch – chainsl st – slip stitchsc – single crochetsc blo – single crochet back loop onlyhdc – half double crochet hdc blo – half double crochet back loop only

dc – double crochet dc blo –double crochet back loop onlytr – trebletr blo – treble back loop onlyinc – increasedec – decreaseyo – yarn over

Special Stitches:

SC/HDC/DC/TR Back Loop Only – A stitch has a front and back loop thatmeet at one end and look like an horizontal V (looks like this >). To crochet inthe back loop only, insert the hook in the middle of the V from top andunder the back loop (the loop that is away from you), yo and draw a loop(you will have 2 loops on the hook). From this point on, continue to crochetthe stitch you wanted as usual.

First Treble In The Row – sc in the first stitch, ch3. Compared to the usualmethod of crocheting a treble in the first row (ch4), this method ofconstructing it will eliminate the gap that usually occurs.

Gauge

Keep the tension relaxed, if your work is too tight, the ends will curl. Use onesize up hook to make the foundation chain and first row. Using the yarn weight and hook size suggested in this pattern will create ablanket size 110cm by 130cm (39.5in by 29.5in). Gauge for the blanket for a10cm by 10cm (3.9in by 3.9in) area is 6 rows by 7 stitches.

The blanket is designed to be a full body blanket. The pattern includeschild and adult size hood and mittens. The blanket can also be customized tofit a child or an adult and the pattern is explained in a way that you canmake it as big or small as you would like it to be.

Made with super chunky (super bulky / #6) yarn, this blanket is warmand soft, and works up in no time.

This pattern will create a blanket size 110cm by 130cm (43.5in by 51in).To customize the blanket, measure the distance from wrist to wrist (with thehands stretched) for the width and shoulder to floor for the length.

The hooded blanket is made of 3 parts:

– the actual blanket– the hood– the mittens

The Blanket

To customize the blanket to your required size, chain multiples of 14 + 4 tomake up the width.

If you are a tight crocheter, use one size larger hook to make the foundationchain and first row (in this case I used a 11mm hook, then a 10mm hook tocomplete the blanket).

As a useful rule of thumb:

– the pattern is a repeat of 2 rows: rows of long wave pattern with rowsof single crochet stitches

– based on the stitches located 2 rows below: sc on top of a tr, hdc ontop of a dc, dc on top of a hdc, tr on top of a sc

– the first treble in the row is constructed according to the methodexplained in the 'Special Stitches' section on page 2 and will just bereferred as treble blo (tr blo) in the pattern to make it easier to follow, feel free to use any method you might like to crochet it, this themethod that worked best for me

– end the blanket with a row of sc to give it a neat and balanced look

The blanket is made in green super chunky (super bulky/#6) yarn using a10mm hook.

Join the hood to the blanket, in the middle, with the slip stitch method. Youshould have 14 stitches left on one side and 13 stitches on the other side.

With gray super chunky (super bulky/#6), crochet a row of single crochetstitches all around the blanket and hood making sure you are crocheting 3scstitches in each corner to form the corner.

The Printable Pattern

The blanket is made out of 7 different parts, choose your design andmake the parts needed:

– 1 x blanket (triceratops & stegosaurus)

– 1 x hood that comes in adult and child size (triceratops &stegosaurus)

– 2 x mittens that come in adult and child size (triceratops &stegosaurus)

– 8 x spikes (stegosaurus)

– 3 x horns (triceratops)

– 5 x back plates (triceratops)

– 2 x eyes - optional (triceratops)

The Hooded Blanket

The hooded blanket is made of 3 parts:

– the actual blanket– the hood– the mittens

The Blanket

To customize the blanket to your required size, chain multiplesof 14 + 4 to make up the width.

30

Page 31: 2 in 1 Hooded Dinosaur Blanket Triceratops or Stegosaurus · 2019-03-11 · crochet hooks sizes 4mm and 10mm (optional a 11mm hook for the initial chain and first row if you are a

If you are a tight crocheter, use one size larger hook to makethe foundation chain and first row (in this case I used a 11mm hook, then a 10mm hook to complete the blanket).

As a useful rule of thumb:

– the pattern is a repeat of 2 rows: rows of long wave patternwith rows of single crochet stitches

– based on the stitches located 2 rows below: sc on top of a tr,hdc on top of a dc, dc on top of a hdc, tr on top of a sc

– the first treble in the row is constructed according to themethod explained in the 'Special Stitches' section on page 2and will just be referred as treble blo (tr blo) in the pattern tomake it easier to follow, feel free to use any method you mightlike to crochet it, this the method that worked best for me

– end the blanket with a row of sc to give it a neat and balancedlook

The blanket is made in green super chunky (super bulky/#6) yarnusing a 10mm hook.

Row 1: ch88 (14 x 6 times + 4)

Row 2: sc in 3rd ch from hook, sc, *2hdc, 2dc, 3tr, 2dd, 2hdc,3sc*,repeat sequence until the end of the row, turn

Row 3: sc in each stitch, turnRow 4: 3tr blo, *2dc blo, 2hdc blo, 3sc blo, 2hdc blo, 2dc blo, 3trblo* , repeat sequence until the end of the row, turn

Row 5: sc in each stitch, turn

Repeat rows 4 & 5 until the required length is achieved.31
