H HEAD COACHES HMIKE McCARTHY (125-78-2, 14th Year, 1st Year with Dallas)

The Dallas Cowboys named Mike McCarthy the ninth head coach in franchise history on Jan. 8, 2020, handing the reigns of the team to an innovative offensive mind with a championship pedigree. McCarthy comes to Dallas with 13 years of head coaching experi-ence and 13 additional years as an assistant coach in the NFL, includ-ing six as an offensive coordinator. As a head coach, McCarthy has racked up a 125-78-2 regular season coaching record, and he owns the sixth-most wins (29th all-time) and fifth-highest winning percentage (.615) among active NFL coaches. His teams have qualified for the postseason nine times, won six NFC North Division titles, made four NFC Championship Game appearances and took home a Super Bowl XLV championship held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, following the 2010 NFL season. Having mentored top quarterbacks, including Hall of Famers and future Hall of Famers, McCarthy’s experience and success with young quarterbacks will help shape the immediate future of the Dallas Cow-boys. Known as a prolific offensive mind - and the primary play-caller - McCarthy’s Packers offense finished fourth in the NFL in total offense and third in points-per-game in total through his tenure with the club. McCarthy is only the fourth head coach in NFL history to lead a sin-gle franchise to eight or more consecutive playoff appearances, join-ing Tom Landry, Noll and Bill Belichick. Those eight appearances from 2009-16 were more than the rest of the NFC North Division combined over that span (Minnesota, three; Detroit, three; Chicago, one). McCarthy’s nine playoff appearances overall are the most by a Packers coach since the NFL postseason began in 1933, and he guid-ed the Packers to a franchise-record fourth consecutive division title in 2014. With the victory over Dallas in the 2016 playoffs, McCarthy surpassed Lombardi and Holmgren for the most playoff victories in team history (10). McCarthy’s success began with dominance at home. Under Mc-Carthy at Lambeau Field, the Packers owned the fourth-best home winning percentage (73-27-2, .725) in the league from 2006 through Week 13 of 2018. Green Bay finished with a record of .500-or-better at home in 11 consecutive seasons under McCarthy.

DAN QUINN (46-39, 6th Year) Dan Quinn accepted his first NFL head coaching job with the Atlanta Falcons in February of 2015. In five seasons with the Falcons, Quinn has amassed a 43-37 regular season record and reached the postsea-son twice, including an NFC Championship and the franchise’s second Super Bowl appearance in 2016. In the last two seasons, Quinn and the Falcons fell just short of a wild card spot after posting 7-9 records. Most recently in 2019, Atlanta stumbled to a 1-7 record in the first half of the season. However, Quinn and his squad surprised the league with a midseason turnaround and fell just short of the postseason after winning six of the last eight games. The Falcons closed the season with four consecutive wins to jump into second place in the NFC South. During 2017, Quinn led the Falcons to a 10-win regular season for the second straight year. Quinn rallied his troops at the end of the regu-lar season, winning five of the last seven to clinch a Wild Card berth with a Week 17 win over Carolina. As the underdog in its Wild Card match-up against the potent Los Angeles Rams, Quinn’s defense shined and defeated the NFL’s top scoring offense 22-10 before losing to eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia in the divisional round. Quinn’s most successful season as a head coach came in his sec-ond year during 2016, when Atlanta posted an 11-5 regular season re-cord en route to a Super Bowl LI appearance, where they lost to New England in overtime. During the playoff run, Quinn defeated his former team, the Seattle Seahawks, in the Divisional Round before winning the franchise’s second NFC Championship in a 44-21 win over Green Bay at the last game in the Georgia Dome. Quinn’s leadership produced six Pro Bowlers that season and an NFL MVP in Ryan, who joined Jones and Vic Beasley Jr. as AP first-team All-Pros. In his first year at the helm, Quinn became the only coach in franchise history to begin his career with five straight wins. However, a mid-sea-son slump derailed the Falcons, who finished 8-8. Quinn helped Atlan-ta’s defense improve from 32nd to 16th over a year. Prior to landing in Atlanta, Quinn was one of the NFL’s top defen-sive coordinators. Quinn served as Seattle’s defensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014, guiding them to consecutive Super Bowl appearanc-es. During that span, Quinn oversaw the league’s top defensive unit as the Seahawks led the NFL in total defense (270.4) and scoring defense (15.2). He has also spent time as the defensive line coach for San Fran-cisco, Miami and the New York Jets.

H WHAT TO WATCH FOR IN WEEK 2 H

DAK PRESCOTT * Dak Prescott needs two touchdown passes to reach 100 in his career. If he reaches the milestone in this game, he would become the third-fastest Cowboys quarterback to 100 passing touchdowns (66 starts), behind Tony Romo (53 starts) and Danny White (62 starts).

* Threw for 4,902 yards in 2019 - the second-highest single-season total in team history (Tony Romo, 4,903).

* Became only the fourth quarterback in NFL history to begin a career with 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns in each of his first four seasons.

* His 40 wins since the 2016 season are the third-most by any NFL signal caller during that time behind only Tom Brady (47) and Russell Wilson (41).

* With one 300-yard game, can tie Troy Aikman (13) for the second-most 300-yard passing games in Cowboys history. * Prescott has not thrown a touchdown pass in two career games against the Falcons.

44EZEKIEL ELLIOTT

* Ezekiel Elliott reached 7,000 scrimmage yards for his career (7,024) in 2019, becoming just the sixth player in NFL history to attain 7,000 scrimmage yards in his first four seasons, joining LaDainian Tomlinson (7,921), Eric Dickerson (7,842), Terrell Davis (7,594), Chris Johnson (7,071) and Clinton Portis (7,059).

* His 1,777 scrimmage yards were the second-most in 2019, and his 14 total touchdowns were tied for fifth.

* In 2018 against the Falcons, Elliott amassed 201 scrimmage yards (122 rush, 79 rec), one-of-four career 200-yard games for Elliott, which are the most 200-yard games by any player since 2016. * Became the 11th Cowboys player to reach 50 touchdowns (rushing and receiving) in a career. He was the 26th player in NFL history to reach 50 touchdowns in his 60th game or earlier (third Cowboy - Emmitt Smith; 51 and Bob Hayes; 52).

2121AMARI COOPER

* Amari Cooper led the Cowboys with 79 catches for 1,189 yards and eight touchdowns, earning his second Pro Bowl nod as a Cowboy in 2019.

* Cooper caught 10 passes for 81 yards in the season opener at the LA Rams, tied for the most catches by a Cowboys player in a season-opening game (Miles Austin - twice; Frank Clarke - twice; Tony Dorsett).

* Cooper has caught eight passes for 107 yards in two games against the Falcons.1919

ALDON SMITH * Aldon Smith second on the team in tackles (career-high tying 12) and had the Cowboys only sack in Week 1 against the LA Rams. It was Smith’s first sack since November of 2015, and number 48.5 in his career.

* Needs 1.5 sacks to reach 50 for his career. If he reaches 50.0 career sacks against the Falcons, he will have done so in his 61st career game and become one-of-seven players all-time to reach 50 sacks in their 61st game-or- earlier (Reggie White, Derrick Thomas, Von Miller, Justin Houston, J.J. Watt and Dwight Freeney).

5858JAYLON SMITH

* Jaylon Smith led the team with 168 tackles and was named to his first career Pro Bowl as an injury replacement in 2019.

* The Cowboys were very efficient when they blitzed opposing quarterbacks in 2019, recording a sack on 11.6% or blitz attempts - the fourth-best sack percentage on blitz passing situations.5454

MICHAEL GALLUP * Michael Gallup became the 14th player to record a 1,000-yard receiving season in franchise history, finishing second on the team with 66 catches for 1,107 yards. Combined with Amari Cooper, the Cowboys had two 1,000- yard pass catchers in a season for only the seventh time in franchise history and the first since the 2012 season (Dez Bryant 1,382; Jason Witten 1,039).

H PRO BOWL COWBOYS H Four Dallas Cowboys were originally selected to the 2019 NFL Pro Bowl which took place on Jan. 27, 2019 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla. All four selections were from Dallas’ of-fense with all four players having been selected for the honor in previous years. The Cowboys boasted three selections on the offensive line, headlined by tackle Tyron Smith, as the ninth-year pro made his seventh consecutive trip (2013-19) - breaking a tie with Rayfield Wright for the most by a Cowboys tackle - and was a starter. Guard Zack Martin joined Smith as a starter on the NFC’s offen-sive line, as he was named to his sixth overall and sixth straight all-star game. Martin is tied with Nate Newton and John Niland for the second-most Pro Bowl selections by a Cowboys guard, be-hind only Larry Allen (nine). After missing the entire 2018 season (Guillain-Barré syndrome), Travis Frederick returned to all-star form and earned his fifth Pro Bowl selection, tying him with An-dre Gurode for the most by a Cowboys center. Rounding out the Cowboys Pro Bowl roster, and making his third overall (second consecutive) appearance, was running back Ezekiel Elliott. Two more Cowboys were named to the all-star game as injury replacements, with Amari Cooper (fourth) and Jaylon Smith (first) each earning a roster spot. It was Cooper’s fourth Pro Bowl se-lection (first as a Cowboy) after he led the Dallas offense with 79 catches for 1,189 yards and a career-best eight receiving touch-downs. Smith was the only Cowboys defender selected for the Pro Bowl, and he made his first-ever trip to the game after leading the Cowboys defense with 168 tackles and 2.5 sacks from his inside linebacker position. Martin was forced to withdraw from the game due to injury.

H THE BOOK OF EZEKIEL H For only the second time in franchise history, the Dallas Cow-boys used a top-five pick on a running back when they chose Ezekiel Elliott out of Ohio State with the fourth overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft. Dallas selected Tony Dorsett with the second pick in the 1977 NFL Draft. In his first season, Elliott produced seven 100-yard rushing games - most by a Cowboys rookie, tied for seventh by a league rookie all-time and tied for the most in the NFL in 2016. He added five more 100-yard outings in 2017, seven in 2018, and with sev-en in 2019, he owns 26 for his career to rank third all-time in team history. H 2020 DRAFT CLASS H The Cowboys were looking to improve several areas of their roster heading into the NFL Draft under first-year Head Coach Mike McCar-thy, and they came away with seven players that impressed through-out training camp - so much so, that all seven draft picks made the initial 53-man roster for Week 1. It is the first time since 2013 that the Cowboys had their entire draft class make the initial 53-man roster following training camp, seventh in the last 21 seasons and the eighth since the 1989 season under Jerry Jones’ guidance.

H IN THE BACKFIELD H The Cowboys were a disruptive presence in their opponents backfield in 2019, forcing 106 negative plays (sacks, negative pass plays, negative rushes and kneel downs). A large part of that disrup-tion was their penchant for getting the ball carrier before he could break through the line of scrimmage, as Dallas corralled opposing rushers for a negative gain on 11.2% of all carries, a percentage which ranked eighth among all defenses:
