FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Fathers in Our Lives
We give our thanks, Creator God, for the fathers in our lives.
This Father's Day we remember the many sacrifices fathers make
for their children and families, and the ways - both big and small - they lift
children to achieve dreams thought beyond reach.
So too, we remember all those who have helped fill the void
when fathers pass early or are absent; grandfathers and uncles,
brothers and cousins, teachers, pastors and
coaches and the women
of our families.
For those who are fathers, we ask for wisdom and humility in the face of the
task of parenting.
Give them the strength to do well by their children and by You.
In Your Holy name, O God, we pray.
Amen.

Dear Parents, Students and Friends of the College, SCS VET Awards
Last Wednesday evening I had the privilege of attending the inaugural Sydney Catholic Schools VET (Vocational Education and Training) Awards at Southern Cross Vocational College, Burwood. Aquinas Catholic College were represented by Christopher Fakhouri, Peter Koshionis and Elizabeth Westrup who were recognised for their outstanding performance in their nominated VET course. VET courses have been developed with the specific goal of preparing students with skills for work and students are required to complete a number of competencies by demonstrating various skills, rather than traditional written assessment. Christopher (Retail), Peter (Business Services) and Elizabeth (Hospitality) have excelled demonstrating the required competencies both at school and through 70 hours of work placement and are worthy recipients of this prestigious award.

Youth Ministry @ Aquinas │ Mrs Catherine Patros
Youth Ministry @ Aquinas - Years 7 & 8 - Evangelisation Day
On 27 August a collective group of Year 7 and 8 students embarked on an evangelisation day to De La Salle College, Ashfield. We were given the opportunity to explore the various aspects of our Catholic faith and traditions, and develop our understanding of the Catholic world that we face in our lives. Through the theme of the day, ‘encounter’, we as students were exposed to the main ways in which we encounter God within the church and throughout our lives. Towards the beginning of the day, the youth ministry band performed a variety of songs regarding the theme of encountering God, followed by the inspirational words shared with us by Deacon Harold, Josh Angrisano and Father Dan. We, as students, were given the opportunity to delve deeper into our faith, and unpack the meaning of the traditions of our church. Overall, the evangelisation day was an inspiring experience, which encouraged all to pursue our Catholic faith in our own lives. Thank you to Mrs Patros for coming along on the day and giving us this opportunity. - Abby Wijeskera -Year 8
