Dear Parents / Guardian,
It has been a most rewarding Semester 1. Our teachers and students have worked hard in the various holistic domains and we observed that many of our young charges are making improvements in terms of their learning attitudes and outcomes. As we look forward to the upcoming June holidays, we will not forget to be thankful for what we have attained this semester and spend time during the holidays to guide our children to reflect on their strengths and areas for growth so that they can be motivated to do even better in the second half of the year. Theme for 2018: Empowered Learners, Empathetic Leaders We continued to share with our students about the desired traits of MFPS students; to be Empowered Learners and Empathetic Leaders as shown in the table below:
Empowered Learners Empathetic Leaders
I am a passionate student who takes ownership for my learning.
I am a gracious person who is polite and considerate in my words and actions.
I am a resilient problem solver who reflects on and learns from my experiences.
I am a caring person who is kind and compassionate to others.
I am a collaborative team player who creates, shares and builds knowledge with my teachers and peers.
I am a proactive citizen who looks out for opportunities to serve others.
Last term, we focused on the Learner as a passionate student who takes ownership for his/her learning and the Leader being a gracious person who is polite and considerate in his/her words and actions. We thank you for working alongside us to reinforce positive work habits of the children such as spending time to revise their work after school and checking their work before submission. This term, we focused on the Learner who is a resilient problem solver and a collaborative team player. We shared about the importance of not giving up to achieve one’s goals. Many times, when our children encounter difficulties, these are also good opportunities to think creatively to come up with solutions to overcome our challenges. We can also tap on the expertise and strengths of our teachers and friends to help us solve problems together. The students had the chance to practise what it means to be a resilient and
reflective learner by analysing their own performance for Term 1’s Formative Assessment. We hope that this process has enabled them to think of their success factors and areas for improvement and spur them to set attainable goals to improve their learning. In preparation for the Parent-Child-Teacher Conference (PCTC), they also took effort to reflect on their own learning process and understand how they can go about making stepwise improvements in their holistic development. I hope you have booked a slot for PCTC to hear your children and teachers share about their learning experiences in MFPS. If you did not, you can also peruse the portfolio with your child at home and get him/her to talk about his/her school experience thus far. PERI Upgrade The school staff has also kept ourselves busy, preparing for our upcoming shift to our holding site. We would like to inform you that the school will be operating from the holding site at 6 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 2 S569948 (former Kebun Baru Primary School) from 3 December 2018 as the school undergoes upgrading works at our current site. We look forward to returning to the upgraded site in December 2020 with enhanced facilities such as an Indoor Sports Hall and a Performing Arts Theatre.
