RamirezAppointedDirector ofAlumniRelations

Carmen Ramirez

InNovember, Carmen Ramirez grabbed the reins of AlumniRelations Director for Loyola Law School. She is a familiarface to many alums, as she has helped admit students here

for numerous years. More precisely, Ramirez worked in Admissionsfor 16 years. Ramirez states, "Coming from an admissionsbackground, I truly understand the critical role the alumni play inpromoting the Law School. Alumni/ae are the Law School'sgreatest asset."

Ramirez has a strong sense of loyalty to the Law School. She haswitnessed many changes at the Law School over the past 20years. She recalls when the Rains Building was more than thelibrary building -- it was the entire Law School, and when theRains Building housed the entire administration, faculty offices, classrooms A, Band C, and Gil's cafeteria. Witnessing Loyola'sphysical growth to an entire city block has been a rewardingexperience to her, and there is no doubt that Loyola students andalums hold a special place in her life. It also is readily apparentthat a strong bond exists between Ramirez and the Law School' abond that will assist her in meeting the challenges of director andalso help her plan strategies to better serve you, the alumni.

A priority for the new director is to strengthen the bond betweenthe alumni community and the Law School. One goal is therevitalization of the alumni web site, allowing alumni tocommunicate effectively with the Law School. Starting thismonth, alumni will notice significant changes both in appearanceand usefulness. The site will provide information on special eventsincluding RSVP options, alumni news, and alumni profiles. Inaddition, interactive features will be provided, allowing for aconvenient means of communicating your news, name andaddress changes, donation opportunities and contacting Loyolafaculty and other members of the Loyola community. She alsoplans on providing lifetime email forwarding service. Within thenext year or so, Ramirez hopes to provide alumni with an onlinedirectory. Be sure to visit and use the alumni web site athttp://alumni.lIs.edu on a regular basis.
