    Abu Dhabi is hosting the first Occupational Safety and Health Conference and Exhibition 2014 in the Middle East

    We are delighted to host this event in its first addition which is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the achievements of the UAE and the Emirate of Abu Dhabi in the field of Occupational Health & Safety. The culture of Occupational Health & Safety is an important element to attract leading talent and other investment to Abu Dhabi. This conference offers a great opportunity to extend the effort invested so far in order to gain a better understanding of international best practice and to continue to work on raising awareness locally & regionally. Furthermore, this conference is a platform for professionals in the field to deliberate new methods and technologies that will assist when facing safety challenges in workplace, to exchange knowledge, discuss best techniques and practices and share other countries experiences. The event will also include many forums which will discuss occupational Health & Safety practices and initiatives on both local, international and at a government level.

    The event will also provide delegates the opportunity to earn ongoing CPD credit through effective workshops and conference attendance.

    International Exhibition For Security & National Resilience 2014

    Abu Dhabi is increasingly playing an important role for mitigating the concerns on homeland security and national resilience, in the region. It will host International Exhibition for Security and National Resilience (ISNR Abu Dhabi 2014) in the UAE capital, which is one of the most attractive destinations for doing business. In the upcoming edition of the strategic event, we are keen to bring together the entire spectrum of homeland security and safety under one umbrella. We expect the years event to attract a large number of experts and decision-makers from the private and public sectors across the region.

    Organizing this specialized edition is in line with our strategy to stay abreast with the latest global security trends.     Occupational Safety and Health Middle East (OSHME) Exhibition & Conference in cooperation with the strategic partners

    Representatives from federal and local entities and international organizations, including the Ministry of Labour and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) participated with OSHAD in the preparation for this conference, addition to the sectors concerned with implementation of AD EHSMS; Building and Construction Sector, Industrial Sector, Energy Sector Transport Sector, Waste Sector, Education Sector, Food Sector, Wastewater Sector, Commercial Activities Sector, Health Sector and Tourism Sector. In organizing the event, OSHAD collaborates with a number of International partners such as the International Institute for Safety and Health (IOSH), the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Health and Safety Executive (HSE), International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM), and British Safety Council (BSC). The partners will participate in the event as keynote speakers, and panelists in workshops to be held on AD EHSMS implementation. In addition, they will take part in the exhibition.

    Remember to consider the Hierarchy of Control when putting the Control measures

    Make structural changes to the work environment, work systems, tools or equipment. Use mechanical aids or manual handling devices. Enclose or isolate the hazard through the use of guards or remote handling techniques. Provide local or general exhaust ventilation.

    Appropriate administrative procedures such as policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), registers, work permits, safety signage, job rotation, job timing, routine maintenance and housekeeping. Provide training on hazards and correct work procedures.

    Provide correctly fitted and properly maintained personal protective equipment (PPE), and/or protective clothing and the training in its use.

    Substitute less hazardous materials, equipment, processes or substances.

    Eliminate the risk by removing the hazard.
