Ian has found a nice Aragonite crystal.

2004 Joint TTGGMC & MGMC Fieldtrip to

Warrnambool District, VIC.

Collecting Olivine bombs (for peridot) and Calcite

Crystals, Mount Shadwell Quarry, Mortlake,

Victoria.

Quarry staff used their front head loader at Mount Shadwell Quarry, Mortlake, Victoria to loosen

olivine bombes (source of peridot) and calcite in the scoria on the hill for fossickers…see dark area

below. Calcite had a slight yellow florescence under ultra violet light. Rex Shillibeer (MGMC

member – far (R) in the picture above) had the find of the day with a nice, large slab specimen of

olivine.
