Brownie Lee Moses born May 11, 1911to the late Annie N. & Jerry J. Giles.Brownie Lee is the 5th child of 10children, four sisters and six brothers.

They were all born in Rock Hill, SouthCarolina. Brownie Lee now resides in theWashington, D.C. area where she has beensince 1939. Although shes a city dweller now,she never forgets her roots, as a Southern girl, and still maintains her southern accent.Brownie Lee tells of a time when she arosefrom her bed around midnight, and walked intothe hallway to pray to the Holy Spirit thesewords:Father God, in the Name Lord Jesus, youknow what I stand in need of, so give me whatyou think I need Holy Spirit.Shortly after I prayed, replied Brownie Lee,the Holy Spirit showed up and took completecontrol of my body. I can only describe thefeeling the same way it was described in thescriptures when the disciples were drunk in thespirit. I returned to my bedroom, and went toreach out to my husband, and my arm was soweak I could not touch him, so I went backinto the hallway, and headed to the bathroom, then I returned to my bedroom again, andreached out toward my husband, and said tohim, I got the Holy Ghost! he looked up at meand laid back down, then I laid down next to

him, and went back to sleep peacefully. I knewthen that I had Eternal Life, with Christ, andHe is real.I ask Brownie Lee, Why are Southern womenso strong, and tend to live much longer thancity women? She replied, in her southernaccent. Well, the southern women when Iwas comin up had a closer relationship withGod, and most of the Pastors in the Churches

back then were strict on women. Ya no, thewomen were not allowed to come in thechurch after having a baby, but the men wereallowed. Why was that Ms. Brownie Lee?Well, the man was considered the head of thefamily, and Southern women grew up havingrespect for their fathers, so after they marriedthey had the same respect for their husbands, not only that, it was respect in the presence ofGod, because God made the man the head ofthe woman.

Nowadays, Ms. Brownie Lee, single womenwith children are supporting the men in theirlives, and not married to them, and theyreusually not the childs biological father. Whatdo you think about that? Ms. Brownieresponded in her Southern accent, Well, themens dont have no respect for the women, and neither one of them understand what theyare doin it is fornication, they dont knowthat they could fall asleep next to each other, and not wakeup, they would just die in sin.Ms. Brownie looked up at me, and said, yea, thats right. They have losted their way, disconnected from God.Brownie Lee is as solid as a rock, she is astrong 93 year old woman, and touch as the

concrete house that she lives in. I was trulyamazed to find out how physically strong sheis. Brownie Lee pulls a 20-50lb trash can fromher back yard to the alley every Sunday eveningafter Church for trash pickup. She also keepsup a 12-room house, and have been since herlate husband, Lonnie Moses went home to bethe Lord in the 1972. Brownie Lee will tell youthat she gets her strength from God Almighty, she says He (GOD) holds all power in His hands.Brownie Lee also has a gift, she sews, and hasmade everything in her closet, including her bed

spreads, curtains and pillows on the her sofa.Brownie Lee is very meticulous, humorous andalso a perfectionist. I ask Brownie Lee wheredid she inherit these ways, she replied, Frommy mother, she was a very neat woman.Brownie Lee has two children, one daughter,Ann Ross, one son, Calvin Moses, who wenthome to the Lord April 7, 1990. She also hasseven grand children, and they are all adults now.The Lord has blessed Brownie Lee to live to seeall 10 of her great-grand children. After talking to Ms. Brownie Lee I realizedsomething else about her, she had a spirit thatsaid, I might be 93, but I can do all thingsthrough Christ Jesus who strengthens me.

“If we stop glorifying everything and start giving God all the glory, all thehonor and all praise, live the life that Jesus taught us to live then, andonly then is when we might, and I mean might see ninety three (93)years. God is a good God he will never leave us nor forsake us if wewould just heed to his call and do what thus sayeth the Lord. You wouldfind that life would be so much better for the whole world. Do you wantto find peace? Then find Jesus and he will give you peace, harmony andlove for one another.”Written by Freddye “Action” Jackson, Sr.
