Low voltage dichroic provides the opportunity of designing mini-mum size fixtures.Aluminium, steel and copper have melting pointsthat are above 300 C and are ideal metals for low voltage fittingsin respect to the intense heat that is generated by the lamps.Thispicture shows a warped ring cap made out of zinc alloy which iscaused by the heat from a low voltage dichroic lamp.

Low voltage dichroic light fittings carry approximately 20 times (240V/12V) the current intensity than that of standard light fittings. It is therefore important to carefully determine the cross section size of the cable and the length from transformer tothe fitting.The following chart is a simplified form recommending cable length per run.

Stainless steel is an iron based alloy that contains at least 10.5% Chromium (Cr).The composition of Cr creates an invisible surface film that resists oxidation and corrosion. 304 grade stainless steel is acceptable for most of the lighting applicationswhich require corrosion protection.When constant seawater or sever atmosphere conditions are concerned 316 grade may bea more beneficial choice.At Gentech we offer two grades of stainless steel with our range of interior and exterior fittings. 316is recommended for locations within 5 km of the coastline externally and industrial areas where there may be strong chemicalpollution. 304 grade is for use both indoors and in locations which are more than 10 km away from the coastline.Stainless steel enjoys a strong and enduring reputation for long term appearance and structural integrity. But in circumstancesstainless steel may become stained or rusted on spots, a mild scrub and detergent clean up is recommended.

Mis-matching transformer capacity with running load of low voltageluminaries may cut short the life of the lamp, for example, if using100VA transformer to supply 3 of 20W lamps, the lamps may receivemore than the 12V required. Generally a certificated electrician isessential to properly install a low voltage lighting system. Poor connection or contacts may cause enormous heat to not only scorchthe fitting but also melt the wire as shown in this picture.

With energy saving and environmental concerns in mind we have extended our range of application on electronic transformersand ballasts. Better quality of reflector in design to produce best light output ratio where-ever possible. Using more diffusedlenses efficiently to reduce unnecessary glare. More fittings designed enclosed to minimizing heat and acoustic issues.

Ordering Trapeze Check ListTrapeze Cable: Determine the length per run, two wires per run plus the lead length to connect to

transformer.Turnbuckle: Standard run requires 4 turnbuckles, but in short runs (within 5m) 2 turnbuckles may be

replaced by 2 fixed ends or adjustable endsTransformer: Calculate power required according to watts and number of lamps used. Determine if to

be surface mount or hidden remote. Normal electronic transformers are not suitable for Trapeze. (There may be specially designed electronic transformer available from ATCO)
