i read everY Page!Dear Lydia,I wanted you to know that though we are fairly new acquaintances, I have been a long-time reader of Style. Over the years, I have read ev-ery article with interest. I look forward to each new issue and always check first to see if it fea-tures anyone I know. Your magazine so reflects this community and I appreciate that it helps me keep up with what’s going on in the area. I feel like I know you well just from reading about you and your family through the years.

follow Your insTincTsDear Lydia:I’m writing to encourage you to keep telling women to follow their feelings and get a sec-ond opinion if they aren’t confident in their treatment or in their biopsy results. On Oct. 27, 2005, I had surgery at a large Denver hospital to remove my thyroid due to a neoplasm in the right lobe. Due to my situation, the surgeon decided to remove the entire thyroid gland. The surgery itself went fine, but the overnight hospital stay afterward was difficult. The hos-pital was understaffed and everyone was work-ing too hard. A few days later, I went back for my post-op checkup, and was given a copy of the pathology report, which said that the large neoplasm was benign. I had an uneasy feel-ing about the pathology result, perhaps rooted in concern that the pathologist had been as rushed and overworked as the nurses had been. After thinking about it for a week, I arranged on my own to have my slides sent to University Hospital for a second opinion. On December 6, 2005, I received an email from the endocri-nologic oncologist at University - there was a 4 mm papillary carcinoma in the left lobe. To treat it, I am receiving a higher dose of thyroid hormone and being followed with ultrasound and blood tests to make sure the cancer didn’t spread. If I hadn’t sent my slides for a second opinion, I’d not have known about the cancer, which, without proper follow-up, could eventu-ally have spread to my bones. Please keep en-couraging women to follow their instincts! You do wonderful work for us all.

Thank you, Lela Criswell

Pleased wiTh resPonseHi Corey,Since advertising in Style Magazine for my Bridal Salon, Mountain Avenue Bridal, we have received an increase in our clientele looking for Bridal Gowns. When we receive a call from a client looking for the perfect Bridal Gown, I know from taking most of these calls that a very good percentage of our clients found us in Style magazine! I am very pleased with the return on my investment and will continue to advertise both Mountain Avenue Bridal and Simply Elegant Wedding and Event planning in Style magazine.

Publisher’s LetterGrateful for My Blessings

The holidays are my favorite time of year and are a time I reflect on my many blessings. My heart is full of gratitude and appreciation for so many things. My precious daughters Meredith and Ali brighten my days. I am an empty nester now, something I truly dreaded, but somehow life has filled those empty moments and I am in touch with both girls nearly every day. Meredith graduates from Colorado State University this May and Ali is a

freshman at the University of Denver. Meredith will seek a Master’s as a stepping stone to her medical school aspirations to be a surgeon. Ali’s current interests are business but that is still open to change, I imagine. It has been such a joy watching these two girls mature and develop into beautiful and smart young women. Along with that, our relationship has grown, evolved, and deepened as my girls have become my best friends, biggest critics, and my most enthusiastic cheerleaders. I love them dearly and am so proud of them both! Another blessing in my life is doing the work I love and working alongside a creative, talented and enthusiastic Style team. They are an awesome group of professionals committed to excellence and I thank each of them for their positive contributions! I am deeply grateful to you, our readers and advertisers, for believing in our vision and welcoming us monthly into your homes and offices. We love celebrating our Colorado Front Range; it truly is a “piece of heaven on earth!” Just recently Style held its 2nd annual Client Appreciation Event and we treated our

guests to the wonderful play, “Greetings,” at the charming Bas Bleu Theatre. This has evolved into such a fun event highlighted with a live auction of being on the cover of Style, on the opening page of fashion, and being a fashion model. So, notice the people in these spots; they are not only beautiful but have a generous heart. The money raised at this fun event benefits the Hope Lives Breast Cancer Support Center to help women in Larimer and Weld counties. Wishing each of you the Blessings of joy, contentment, good health and peace this holiday!

home :: FORT COLLInS MORTgAgE

life is all about relationships. No one understands this principle better than the three wise men of Fort Collins Mortgage. For over 10 years the own-ers of Fort Collins Mortgage, Scott Charpentier, Jim Hinojos, and Jon Vigil

have been developing long lasting genuine rela-tionships with the fine folks of the Front Range.

Charpentier and Hinojos, originally from Cali-fornia, started their business partnership over 17 years ago. “To be in partnership any facet of life you must be honest with one another. But in business specifically, you must trust one another completely,” says Charpentier.

Charpentier and Hinojos started Fort Collins Mortgage with the intention of placing families into homes and forging long lasting relationships with their clients and over the past 10 years they have done just that. The great success of Fort Collins Mortgage can be directly traced back to a warm, educated, and diligent staff. “In order for a business to be a great success all members of the staff must be focused on the same goal,” says Hinojos.

The partnership between Charpentier and Hi-

nojos was only strengthened when the duo added Jon Vigil as a partner in May of this year. The three partners work well together focusing their indi-vidual strengths into one focused business plan. Charpentier was a wealth of investment knowl-edge from his 17+ years in the field. He places strong importance on keeping staff morale high. He truly cares about each and every member of his staff as though they were family. Hinojos is a customer service guru. He places the utmost importance on making sure that the customers of Fort Collins Mortgage are well informed and com-fortable with the services Fort Collins Mortgage provides. Vigil adds a bit of youth and a more aggressive approach to business. He knows that Fort Collins Mortgage is always in direct compe-tition with the larger firms such as Wells Fargo. “I want our clients to know that we will always perform to the best of our abilities to beat the competition and provide the best structured deal for our customer,” says Vigil.

The customers of Fort Collins Mortgage typi-cally seek mortgages ranging from one hundred thousand to 2 million dollars. The firm believes that their clients have a number of advantages

over the other lenders. Fort Collins Mortgage is able to offer volume discounts and preferred treatment from lenders, where the company is able to get priority loans and obtain the best rates and terms. “70% of our company’s new busi-ness is repeat business from existing clients,” says Charpentier.

With Fort Collins Mortgage serving the entire Front Range, it was necessary to relocate from their pervious location in downtown Fort Collins to new headquarters on south College Avenue in Fort Collins. “We serve customers all over the Front Range, this includes Fort Collins, Windsor, Loveland, and Greeley – so we wanted a more centralized location,” says Charpentier. The new Fort Collins Mortgage headquarters is truly some-thing to behold; multi-functional to say the least. You can meet with the warm staff of Fort Collins Mortgage and get yourself into a new home at a great deal, and even get a top-of-the-line au-tomatic car wash! Headquarters are also home to the 287 Car Wash which features all the tools you need to get your vehicle looking like new! it seems Northern Colorado has gone to the dogs – in a good way. Wherever you go you see man and his best friend. They’re walking the trails, shopping together, hanging out at the sidewalk café. There’s even a park especially designed for Fido and his friends.

Dogs, it seems are everywhere. And they’re here to stay.

Little wonder. Estimates are that 68 percent of Colorado households have pets and that 44 percent of those pets are dogs. According to Colorado State University’s Argus Institute for Families and Veterinary Medicine, we love them so much that 98 percent of us consider our pets family members; 59 percent of us say our pet is our best friend; 75 percent of us feel our dog’s health is as important as our own; and 32 percent of us allow our dogs to sleep in our beds. Finally, 76 percent of us say that we feel guilty when we go to work and leave our pets at home. 38 percent of us even call home to talk to our pets even though we know they can’t answer the phone - at least not intentionally.

Maybe that’s why we’ve started taking our dogs to work with us. It’s a tradition that goes back thousands of years – sheep herders are just one example – but had fallen out of favor until recently. But research is showing that dogs in the workplace have other benefits besides companionship. According to the web site DogFriendly.com bringing pets to work increases staff morale and worker productivity, increases camaraderie among employees, and increases sales in retail stores.

And, like the sheep herders of the past, we

can also put our furry friends to work. Not only can they act as the welcoming committee when customers come into an establishment, they can also be an integral part of getting the job done. They can earn their keep. Here are some examples of how dogs in Northern Colorado are doing just that:

At the Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Officer Kathy Zavakos-Rocha and Lucca, a one and a-half year old black German Shepard from Holland, form the first K-9 security team to work in a hospital in Northern Colorado. Together, they make daily rounds and even visit patients.

“Lucca is an amazing dog; smart, dependable, friendly and a very fast learner”, said Zavakos-Rocha. “It is rewarding to work with Lucca knowing he has this wonderful personality and skills, yet is capable of defending anybody or assisting with a difficult situation.” The biggest challenge is finding new ways of doing things so Lucca doesn’t get bored.

“The K9 team provides an additional

alternative for security management and the overall safety of our patients, visitors and staff,” said Larry Whitted, Regional Director of Security. “We have very positive feedback from staff, patients, and visitors about the presence of our K9 team.” Just like a therapy dog, the K9 program also impacts the patients and visitors. Whitted added, “Lucca seems to provide a relaxed and reassuring presence while allowing people to focus for a time on something other than their medical situation.”

At Indigo Gallery, an art gallery in Old Town Fort Collins featuring local and international artists, Bear keeps owner Wendy Foster company and greets patrons who visit.

“We sometimes have customers come in just to see him,” shares Foster. “Bear’s extremely friendly, sits on command, and greets just about every customer who comes through the door. We always have comments about what a great greeter he is. He always beats us to the door. We have to watch him when the UPS man comes. He likes to get in his truck and take a ride.”

At Fort Collins Good Samaritan Village, dogs play a healing role. “The therapeutic value ofThe therapeutic value of having pets – primarily dogs – at Good Samaritan is inestimable. We have a visiting pet program that allows the staff of the Village to bring their pets to work to interact with the residents,” says Dennis Katz, Doctor of Ministry. “This has proven to be a tremendous success because the pets bring comfort, laughter, and companionship to the residents. It has been shown that the effect pets have on people includes lowering blood pressure by bringing a sense of calm and a means to show affection. The pets also make Good Samaritan home for the residents and offer a stress reliever for the staff. The benefits are enormous and the pets are just plain fun!”

Annette Kahmann named her business Golden Touch when she was working with a persnickety rabbit, Sherman, at the Greeley animal shelter. No one else could handle this animal and when employees realized that Annette had helped Sherman, they said, “You have the golden touch.” And a business was born.

Kahmann has been a touch healer for about 12 years working with people’s auras and began healing animals about 4 years ago. A healer like Kahmann works with animals’ energy fields to find sources of stress or pain and tries, by focusing her own energy, to unblock those jams. “Energy always follows intention,” says Kahmann. Her methods include stroking the aura around the animal, sensing the energy field, and looking for areas of blockage. When she finds one she talks quietly to the animal, encouraging it to let go of the stress and strokes the area of pain until the balled up energy loosens and begins to flow again.

Kahmann is very committed to helping animals better communicate with their people. She says that many times pets are ill or misbehave because they have experienced trauma and don’t understand why. Since most adult pets have a mental age of about 2 years, it follows that they need the kinds of simple explanations that one would offer a small child. Kahmann says they need to be spoken to about abrupt changes in family structure or especially about veterinary medical procedures. “Pets need to know where their place is, whom they should love, and what’s going to happen to them,” says Kahmann.

“I could not ask for better work than what I do,” says Kahmann. Her mission is to help both people and animals feel at ease, to breathe again. By helping them work through their stress that is precisely what she does.

when Albert first saw Dr. Holmes, he could hardly lift his head because of the pain in his neck. When he turned his head, he would yelp. Now, according to Bud,

“After receiving acupuncture treatments, Albert feels a lot better. He’s not as restless. I’m a big believer that acupuncture has helped alleviate his pain.”

Initially, Albert received acupuncture treatments from Dr. Holmes once per week. Later, the frequency of treatments decreased to once every two weeks. Currently, Bud takes Albert in to see Dr. Holmes every two to three weeks, sometimes a little longer.

We were invited to observe one of Albert’s treatments. Dr. Holmes first checked with Bud to make sure Albert was being given his proper medications. (In Albert’s case, as in many, acupuncture treatments augment traditional drug therapy.) Next, Dr. Holmes inquired about any symptoms that Albert had displayed since his last treatment a little over a month ago. Then the doctor gave Albert a physical examination consisting of probing different areas of his body to assess the location of pain, stiffness, etc. After these preliminaries, the actual acupuncture treatment began.

Albert lay on his stomach and side on the floor of the treatment room with Dr. Holmes and Bud kneeling next to him. Dr. Holmes then began the process of inserting the sterilized stainless steel acupuncture needles. Each needle was encased inside a glide tube, which made it easier to insert the needle. The top of the needle protruded

If you visit The Other Club fitness center on Riverside Drive in Fort Collins, you’ll likely find Albert there to greet you. Albert is a Leonberger, a 125-pound, 11-year-old, gentle dog. In recent years, Albert has suffered from hip dysplasia. He’s also developed a disc problem in his neck. While looking for ways to help his dog deal better with the associated pain, Bud Phillips, owner of The Other Club, was introduced to Dr. Debra Holmes, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and specialist in acupuncture at Paws of the Rockies Animal Hospital.

slightly above the tube. Dr. Holmes felt Albert’s body to locate, as precisely as possible, the proper point to insert the needle. Then she placed each tube, with needle inside, on Albert’s neck and hip. With a quick tap of her finger, she pushed the needle through the tube and into Albert’s skin. For about 15 minutes, Dr. Holmes inserted 20-30 needles into Albert’s body. This process drew virtually no reaction from Albert – he remained quite calm. After all the needles were inserted, Albert was given a doggie treat, which is done routinely during treatments as a reward for good behavior. The needles remained in Albert’s skin for another 15 minutes at which time they were removed and the treatment ended.

In addition to Dr. Holmes and other veterinarians who offer similar treatment options, Fort Collins is fortunate to claim one of the country’s leading specialists in pet acupuncture and other complementary and alternative medicine, Dr. Narda G. Robinson. Dr. Robinson is a DVM and also a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), trained and licensed to treat humans. She heads up the Acupuncture and Complementary Medicine group at Colorado State University’s James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital on Drake Road west of College Avenue. Dr. Robinson has been affiliated for 10 years with the Veterinary Teaching Hospital – recognized as one of the finest in the country, if not the world. The Teaching Hospital is part of CSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2007.

Specializing in the complementary and alternative medicine treatment of small animals such as cats and dogs, Dr. Robinson conducts classes for veterinarians and veterinary students on the use of acupuncture, herbs and supplements as an adjunct to traditional medical treatments for various animal maladies, in which Dr. Holmes has participated. Dr. Robinson says, “Acupuncture is all about stimulating nerves and nerve pathways. By inserting needles in the proper locations, the localized biochemistry is changed and signals are sent to the spinal cord and brain. This process can reduce or eliminate acute and chronic pain, and help with other medical problems such as arthritis, damage from injury, difficulties following surgery, peripheral nerve injury, facial paralysis, epilepsy (reducing seizures), intestinal problems, pain from inflammation of the pancreas, and side effects from cancer and its treatment.”

Dr. Robinson, along with her fellow DVM at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Dr. Tim Holt (who treats large animals such as horses, cows, pigs, goats and sheep) have brought an enlightened, scientific approach to using acupuncture and other complementary and alternative medicine in the treatment of animals. They are identifying, scientifically, how and why these therapies work in an animal’s body rather than simply attributing the healing value to ill-defined and misunderstood forces. While some veterinarians remain skeptical, a number of others, including Dr. Holmes, are now using acupuncture and other complementary and alternative medicine as a significant part of their veterinary practice. This trend will no doubt accelerate, since pet owners are increasingly asking their veterinarians to offer these therapeutic options.

Here Kitty, Kitty...

Yogi, Kodi, Smokey, Shadow, Ottie-these are the sounds you will hear around the Harrison household 24-seven.

Susan Harrison, owner of the Jewelry Emporium in Fort Collins,

also known as “The Cat Whisperer,” acquired Zsa Zsa., her first feline, when she was 4 years old. Zsa Zsa became her first true love and it was a love that would last a lifetime-in sickness or in health, in good times and bad, for better or for worse.

“I was the typical child with the kitty in the baby stroller,” recalls Susan. “I dressed her up, cut off all of her whiskers– but despite all the things I did, she loved me no matter what. She loved me unconditionally. I was fortunate to have Zsa Zsa as a pet for seventeen years.”

Susan thinks that when you decide to adopt a pet, you have to be prepared to make a com-mitment. “I don’t believe that people really think about the commitment or responsibility of cat ownership. You immediately have to spay/neuter and vaccinate your pet.

Susan was ecstatic when she discovered that the man she was dating (now her husband) also owned a very special cat named “Cosmo.” “M y husband is the most tolerant man I’ve ever known because I have increased our cat popula-tion steadily through the years. Rich loves all of our cats, although he hasn’t always welcomed each new addition with open paws,” explains Harrison.

When Susan comes home from work, she unwinds by watching the cats and their kitty an-tics. Like children, each cat has its own unique personality. Yogi is a striking snowshoe. He is black, brown with white paws (hence “snow-shoe”) with a very prominent white patch on his face and beautiful blue eyes. Yogi, who is the

oldest, is the King of the Castle. When Harrison pets him, he lifts up on his back paws and does a little dance. Yogi is a very dignified member of the household.

Kodi and Yogi share the same parents. He is a year younger than Yogi, but has a more mellow personality. Kodi has beautiful black markings on his face, blue eyes, and tan with brown body. He has, by far, the sweetest personality. Unlike the other cats, he chases his tail and turns somer-saults when being petted.

“Smokey came to our family in a very unique way. Rich and I went looking for a kit-ty for a friend’s mother who lived on a farm in Wellington. We were walking around and sud-denly Smokey, a light snowshoe cat with a white tipped tail, dropped out of a tree at our feet. We couldn’t catch him, but knew he should be anoth-er addition to our “kitty family” and we decided to return the next day to retrieve him. Smokey is a biological brother to both Yogi and Kodi. Smokey is our most inquisitive and mischievous cat. One time he got locked in the cabinet under our out-side grill. Because we did not know he was there, he tried to escape through the brick hole where the electrical wires went to the grill. Unfortunate-ly, his head stuck in the hole and we had to call the plumber to cut the pipe so we could free his head. Smokey is always there to meet and greet us whenever we arrive home,” shares Harrison.

During a very rainy, cold storm the Harri-son’s found “Shadow” dripping wet and very hungry. “We nursed him back to health and he became our fourth kitty tenant. Shadow is a silky gray, long-haired cat with green eyes. He has an elegant, bushy tail. He is very long from head to tail. Shadow is very dignified and graceful. He is our gentle giant and King of the Cat Condo’s, says Harrison.

“Ottie is our baby in the truest sense. He is 1 ½ years old, predominantly black with long hair with green eyes. Ottie is WILD, but shows me the most affection. He is always climbing into my lap, wrapping his front legs around my neck, and showering me with more kisses than all of the rest of the cats combined. It is not unusual for Ottie to walk around the house on my shoulders,” Har-rison explains.

Susan Harrison, like many proud parents, likes to provide her kitties with the best amenities possible. “We recently had our house designed and remodeled and included an area especially for the cats.” With the help of their builder and designer, Harry Poehlmann and Dawn Oglesby, Harrison designed a built-in structure with doors that are cat-shaped kitty entrances which lead to individual litter boxes. Although she cleans the litter boxes at least once a day, Susan also had ventilation fans installed. The kitty area also fea-tures two kitty condo’s and a toy storage area. Each cat can take out their favorite toy when they want to play, but unfortunately just like children, they haven’t quite learned the knack of putting them away.

“Personally, cats are my hobby and a life-time commitment. You have to have the time and be willing to adjust your schedule to meet their needs. If a person is considering adopting a cat, they should pick up informative literature at the Humane Society,” says Harrison.

“Old Man, Quazie, and Jeff, they are my garage cats...but that is another story from the Cat Whisperer.”

But is that all you need to consider before signing on the dotted line to hire a caterer? Paul Pellegrino, Owner of All Occasions Catering, suggests that a bride hire a caterer who is willing to take the time to listen to your special ideas of how you visualize your perfect reception, and be

willing to work to customize the catering to fulfill your dream. “The idea of a dream wedding varies as much as an individual’s personality,” says Pellegrino, who along with his wife, Nenita, have catered weddings in the area for over ten years. “From deli-sandwiches served at picnic tables, to outdoor pits cooking up western barbecue, to haute cuisine prepared table-side at a formal sit-down dinner, a bride’s budget and vision will determine the choices she makes for the reception,” says Pellegrino. any category of food requested, but a ‘dream builder,’ as well, acting as both a consultant and coordinator, if asked. Pellegrino says, “Our goal as a caterer is to match the expectations of the bride to that which will actually unfold the day of the wedding reception.” Pellegrino even assists his clients in determining where to direct their dollars so the cost can be applied to the food which is most important to that client. Pellegrino further explains that All Occasion Catering has built a reputation that exceptional food will be served. A well respected caterer must also communicate with other wedding professionals involved, even taking care that he and his staff dress in the right colors, so all the events look and flow seamlessly.

Questions the bride should consider:

What type of facility and what is the overall theme?

Are there site restrictions?

Will the reception be indoors or outdoors?

What facilities are available at the reception site?

Does the kitchen have ovens?

What will the schedule be to serve the food - hors d’oeuvres to dessert?

Will the food be served as a buffet, family-style or formal sit-down?

If buffet, will guests be served or will they help themselves?

If formal sit-down, what type?

“stylish trendsetters are dipping locks into shades of chocolate, red and auburn with the sparkle of more subtle highlights, which will glisten luxuriously under holiday lights,” says miranda segura, hair stylist and color expert at tangles salon & spa. segura adds, “chunky blonde highlights were in style for a while, but the more subtle tones pair well with the popular styling trends of soft curls and curling iron created waves in longer hair. segura uses schwarzkopf professional color, whose glamour collection of hair trends offers a seasonal summary of the latest fashion in hairdressings. segura furthers her education by attending schwarzkopf classes and seminars to learn the latest techniques for enhancing custom hair color. segura uses her color expertise to create a warm mixture of autumn tones for arlene nededog’s dark brown hair. an all-over auburn tint is applied as the base color, to which a panel of dark violet is applied to the underlying bottom half of the hair. rich, subtle tones of caramel highlights are randomly placed around the crown and the tone on tone layering of color gives a natural, yet sharp clarity and depth of vibrant color. segura cuts nededog’s hair into an in-line bob, a sophisticated yet carefree styling, and perfect for this csu director of undergraduate retention programs, college of natural sciences.

Excellence ThePalmer Way

Christmas is in the air at Palmer Flowers & Decorating Gallery. When you arrive at the gallery you are immediately immersed in the sights, scents, and sounds of Christmas. From the red and gold

entryway arch you can see nothing but Christmas through the entire showroom. There are dozens of Christmas trees adorned with lights, ornaments, and ribbons of every kind. Delectable pastries are circulated by friendly, helpful staff that will be sure you leave with a complementary rose. The selection of decorative holiday pieces is impressive. You will find an abundance of silk flower arrangements to suit any place in your home, and more options for fresh flower arrangements than you can imagine. It is clear that Palmer Flowers is the place to come for your Christmas decorating.

The yearly tradition of Christmas at Palmer’s is legendary in the region and draws customers from far and wide. When asked how much effort is put into the display, Spiro Palmer says, “Oh not very much. Only six months.” Angela Palmer relates that the first Christmas open house for the Palmers was in 1976 at their first store on Olive and College Ave. They had one tray of baklava and one Christmas tree with handmade ornaments. In the 30 proceeding years the growth of the business has been amazing. These days over 15,000 people annually visit the gallery during Christmas season. During this season their staff of around 50 grows to over 100. “They’re the best crew ever,” says Mrs. Palmer.

Christmas at Palmer’s has definitely become

palmer flowers & decorating gallery

a trademark of their service but the shop itself has become an area icon and has garnered many awards over the years including Best of Fort Collins, every year since 1999. Most recently, the Palmers were awarded the prestigious, Retail Florist of the Year for 2005. Conferred by the Wholesale Florist & Florist Supplier Association (WF&FSA), the Palmers were singled out for this award among all floral retailers in the United States and Canada. This award signifies respect and a phenomenal reputation not only among customers but among the wholesalers in the industry. Additionally, Angela Palmer will be inducted into the American Institute of Floral Designers this July – an honor reserved for a very few number of designers. Only 1,300 total people have received the award to date.

Mr. Palmer attributes the business’s success primarily to loving what they do. They strive to give the absolute best to their consumers, involve themselves and their employees in the community and know that rewards of profit will come as a result of their excellence in other areas. Both Mr. and Mrs. Palmer agree that by giving great value for the customer’s dollar and providing superior quality and service, their business has become distinguished in northern Colorado. “Without our customers, we wouldn’t be here,” says Mr. Palmer.

Mrs. Palmer comments that one of her favorite things about her work is the ability to connect with customers. The Palmers are often present for families’ biggest occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, births, or deaths. She remembers crying with dear customers over family deaths and celebrating with them about new babies. A favorite story Mrs. Palmer recounts involves a woman who had come from hard times and had never experienced Christmas in her life… until coming to Palmer Flowers where she found warmth, an extended family, and reason to celebrate. The woman eventually became a long-time employee of the company. Through the annual Christmas displays at the Palmers, many lives are touched. It is precisely because Palmer Flowers is more than a business that so many people are drawn there and this is why the success has continued for 30 years. Fort Collins is indeed fortunate to have them.
