Arizona State Men’s Lacrosse

• Your support of Arizona State lacrosse makes a difference! Lacrosse is notrecognized as a varsity sport and has no affiliation with the ASU athleticdepartment. Thus, most of our funding comes from dues paid by players, someof whose parents can't afford to pay for their son to play. More than half of theteam’s $100,000 budget is raised from outside sources. Players pay $1500 -$1700 each annually in order to participate.

• Arizona State lacrosse players are true student-athletes. The lacrosse teamdoes not assist with admissions or offer financial assistance, so each student-athlete gains admission based on his academic strengths and pays full tuition.At Arizona State it’s academics first, athletics second. The team maintainsexcellent academic standing despite the rigorous demands of college athletics.

• Sun Devil lacrosse players take pride in playing for Arizona State and are willingto pay dues and fundraise in order to participate.

Arizona State Men’s Lacrosse

• There are currently 20 boys high school programs in Arizona and over 2,000boys high school programs nationwide.

• Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the United States, at every level of play.• The NCAA lacrosse championships (Division I, II and III) draw over 45,000 fans.• National Television coverage of lacrosse has increased over 600% since 2000.• Men’s lacrosse ranks 5th out of 80 NCAA sponsored championships in

merchandise sales.• Nearly 75 percent of all lacrosse fans/players have an annual household

income of $50,000 or more.• Nearly 50 percent of all lacrosse fans/players estimate the current market value

of their house and land to be $200,000 or more.• While Title IX and financial concerns have slowed the growth of men’s college

varsity lacrosse, the USLIA (“virtual varsity” club level lacrosse) has grown from75 to over 175 teams in the past five years making it the largest lacrosse leaguein the world.
