by Amy Ekström - Can we truly change the world? Is it actually possible that all our dreams and passions will ever accomplish anything? When I look at the world today I can’t help but be overwhelmed. I used to wish that I was Superman, longing to fly around the world, rescuing people from suf- fering. I have wanted so badly to go to the nations, and see injustice destroyed, and res- cue the unlovable orphans. I could drink that super-hero magic potion that would make it all possible. I’d wear a really nice hot-pink costume with a contrasting black cape. And I’d have a catchy name like “Bible Girl.” But right now all I can see is Superman’s burden. It is the burden of x-ray vision, able to see the world for what it truly is. It is the burden of supersonic auditory ability, able to hear the cries of children starving to death. It is the burden of having the power within to change the world, but still being only one man. I feel this burden daily, not because I have super powers or a cool costume, but because I have something more. I have the power of the living God burning within me. It pushes and pulls me to do greater things than just fly. This burden compels me to bring lasting change to our world. Not to just solve one crime in each episode, but to change the course of history. I realise the world’s problems cannot be solved in the pages of a comic book or in a one-hour TV drama. There is no magic potion. There is only the Ultimate Man. And by bringing the world be- fore Him, one by one, will we ever see real change. So, to the world and beyond…………. by Amy Ekström - Can we truly change the world? Is it actually possible that all our dreams and passions will ever accomplish anything? When I look at the world today I can’t help but be overwhelmed. I used to wish that I was Superman, longing to fly around the world, rescuing people from suf-fering. I have wanted so badly to go to the nations, and see injustice destroyed, and res-cue the unlovable orphans. I could drink that super-hero magic potion that would make it all possible. I’d wear a really nice hot-pink costume with a contrasting black cape. And I’d have a catchy name like “Bible Girl.”

But right now all I can see is Superman’s burden.

Not to just solve one crime in each episode, but to change the course of history.

I realise the world’s problems cannot be solved in the pages of a comic book or in a one-hour TV drama. There is no magic potion. There is only the Ultimate Man. And by bringing the world be-fore Him, one by one, will we ever see real change.

So, to the world and beyond………….

We celebrated our Autumn DTS graduation last month, sending 21 students out to continue the good work God has begun in them. Every summer the inTouch Renewal Gathering at Restenäs provides a YWAM environment where God’s presence is evident, each participant has the oppor-tunity to listen to God’s voice, and to be refreshed and reunited with friends in a familiar setting. You’re all invited!

This year’s speakers will be Jeff and Romkje Fountain. Jeff, originally from New Zealand, has lived in Holland for 30 years. Together he and Romkje led the Heidebeek YWAM base for 13 years and since 1990 they have been leaders of YWAM Europe. For the past decade, Jeff

has been networking with leaders in the body of Christ across Europe, promoting partnerships towards its re-evangelisation under the umbrella of Hope for Europe. He has written a book about faith, hope and vision for the 21st century called “Living as People of Hope”. Romkje is also involved in Hope for Europe, and convenes the ‘Women In Leadership’ net-work.

For Jeff and Romkje, the word ‘renewal’ has a broader meaning. Evidence for this can be found in the Weekly Word that Jeff posts on the YWAM Europe web-site*. Every week an informative article about current issues or events in Europe is added to the Weekly Word archives. Full of historical facts and brilliant insight, Jeff’s articles offer Christians a fresh and honest perspective on the changes hap-pening across Europe. He believes these changes offer both major challenges and opportunities for Christians to help shape Europe’s future. To read Jeff’s weekly word go visit http://www.ywameurope.com/news/word.asp

So, if you can’t make it to Restenäs this summer, we invite you to visit the YWAM Europe website and discover how you can become involved in becoming a his-tory maker here in Europe. For more information on the Renewal Gathering contact us soon.

inTouch Renewal Gathering 16 - 22 July

Jeff and Romkje Fountain - This year’s inTouch Renewal Gathering speakers at Restenäs.

PraiseThank you, Jesus, for all the people who read our news. Please bless them with all your heavenly blessings and let them feel a part of what we do here.

Praise God that he is helping us work more and more effectively and with a long-term perspective.

PrayerPlease pray that the team at Restenäs will grow with people who have a pas-sion for Jesus and for the unreached.

We’re currently working on establish-ing long term projects, especially India. Please pray for God’s guidance in that process.

Restenäs is a big place and we can take a lot more students than what we have right now. Pray that we will know how to get more students and that God will max us out!

Our vision of ‘mobilising, training and sending missionaries in order to build God’s kingdom among the unreached’ is far too big to do by ourselves. It’s going to take the whole church to bring the whole Gospel to the whole world. And we want to invite you and others like yourself to be part of that whole. So we need more people like you to stand beside us through your prayers and financial support.

As editor of the Restenäs News, I would like to challenge each reader to consider asking at least ten friends or church mem-bers to subscribe to the Restenäs News.

By doing so, you will be helping us do our part in accomplishing the Great Commission.

If each person who receives this printed newsletter accepted this chal-lenge, that would bring our total readership to 9,141. So, if you are inspired and encouraged by the news you read in these pages, will you please consider telling others?

Thanks for considering, and may God bless you.
