    This contest will mark the 47th meeting between these two tradition-ch franchises. For twenty years (1950-1969) the Browns and the Gi-

    nts were Eastern Conference foes, however following the NFL andAFL merger in 1970, the Browns joined the AFCs Central Division

    with Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Houston, while the Giants remained

    n the NFC East Division with Philadelphia, Washington, Dallas andSt. Louis. Cleveland leads the regular season series 25-19-2 (.555),

    ncluding a 13-10-0 (.565) regular season mark in Cleveland. Sincehe merger in 1970, the clubs have faced each other only seven times.

    The Browns last win over the Giants came Dec. 1, 1985 in a 35-33

    oad win at the Giants.

    Cleveland scored 17 fourth quarter points to earn its first victory of the

    eason at Cincinnati on Sept. 28 with a 20-12 road victory. Browns QBDerek Anderson connected with WR Braylon Edwards on a four-yard

    ouchdown toss to open a 10-6 lead, and RB Jamal Lewis added ane-yard touchdown plunge to extend the 17-6 lead. On the afternoon,

    Anderson was 15 of 24 passing for 138 yards with one touchdown and

    ne interception. TE Kellen Winslow led the club with 5 receptions for4 yards while Lewis paved the way with 25 carries for 79 yards and

    ne touchdown. Defensively, the Browns limited the Bengals to only

    9 yards rushing and 211 net yards of offense, while forcing five turn-vers and three sacks.

    THE COACHESCLEVELAND BROWNS - ROMEO CRENNEL

    Romeo Crennel is entering his fourth season as HeadCoach and was rewarded with a two-year contract ex-tension (thru 2011) on Jan. 29, 2008. Crennel led theBrowns to a 10-6 record in 2007, including a franchise-best seven consecutive home wins, and witnessed sixBrowns selected to the Pro Bowl. Crennels offensedeveloped into a highly productive unit and rankedeighth in the NFL in offense (5,621 net yards) and scor-ing (402 points). The output of net yards and scoringalso ranked third best in franchise history. Crennel was

    amed head coach of the Cleveland Browns on Feb. 8, 2005, the 11th full-timeead coach in franchise history. Crennel returned to Cleveland in 2005, aftererving as the Browns defensive coordinator in 2000, and along with Phil Sav-ge helped rebuild the football operations. Crennel previously led the Browns

    o a respectable 6-10 record in his first year as a head coach and added a 4-12mark in 2006. His resume includes 38 years of coaching experience, including

    7 years in the NFL. Prior to rejoining the Browns, Crennel served as the defen-ive coordinator for New England (2001-04), helping the Patriots to three Super

    Bowl victories. From 1997-99, Crennel coached the defensive line on the NewYork Jets. He spent 12 years on the New York Giants coaching staff starting ashe special teams and defensive assistant coach in 1981. Crennel began hisrofessional coaching career in 1970 at his alma mater, Western Kentucky. Helso saw stints at Texas Tech, Mississippi and Georgia Tech before entering therofessional ranks.

    NEW YORK GIANTS - TOM COUGHLINTom Coughlin reached the pinnacle of the coaching

    profession in the 2007 season when he led the Giantsto a victory in Super Bowl XLII. Coughlin is one of justsix active coaches to lead a team to a Super Bowl vic-tory. The championship season capped a Giants revivalthat began when Coughlin was named the 16th head

    coach in franchise history on Jan. 6, 2004. Cough-lin was an assistant coach with the Giants when theywon Super Bowl XXV in 1990. He entered 2008 103-89(.536) in the regular season, plus 8-6 in the postseason

    or an overall record of 111-95 (.539). Coughlin previously coached the Jack-onville Jaguars, taking charge of the expansion franchise and guiding the teamor its first eight seasons. Coughlin compiled a 68-60 regular season record531), plus a 4-4 mark in the playoffs, and twice took Jacksonville to the AFC

    Championship Game. Coughlin was out of football in 2003 but has been in theoaching profession for almost 40 years. Coughlin arrived in Jacksonville follow-

    ng three years as the head coach at Boston College, where he turned a strug-ling program into a top 20 team. Coughlin was the Giants wide receivers coachnder Bill Parcells from 1988-90. Coughlin began his coaching career in 1969

    as a graduate assistant at Syracuse, his alma mater. He was the head coach athe Rochester Institute of Technology from 1970-73, compiling a record of 16-5-2. Coughlin returned to Syracuse in 1974, first serving as quarterbacks and

    ffensive backfield coach for three seasons before being promoted to offensiveoordinator for four years. Coughlin entered the NFL as the Philadelphia Eagleswide receivers coach in 1984 and 85. He held the same position with the GreenBay Packers in 1986 and 87 before moving to the Giants for a three-year stint.

    Giants RB Tiki Barber rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown and WR Amani Tohauled in five passes for 126 yards to lead New York to a 27-10 win over the BrowGiants Stadium. New York jumped out to an early 17-0 lead before K Phil Dawsothe Browns on the board with a 49-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter. After GK Steve Christie booted a 25-yard field goal to make the score 20-3, Browns QBGarcia hooked up with WR Quincy Morgan on a 3-yard scoring pass to close the g20-10, but New York RB Mike Cloud put the game away with a 5-yard TD run withleft.     OACHES CORNER: Browns head coach Romeo Crennel was on the same staff as Giants head

    oach Tom Coughlin in the 1980s and early 90s. Crennel served as the special teams and defensivene coach for the Giants from 1981-92 and Coughlin came on as the teams wide receivers coach from988-90 before leaving for a head coaching job at Boston College. Strength and conditioning coachom Myslinski played the 1995 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars where Coughlin was the headoach and current Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride was serving as offensive coordinator.yslinski also played for Gilbride during the 2000 season in Pittsburgh where Gilbride was the offen-ve coordinator for two seasons.

    THROWBACKS THIS MONDAY NIGHTThe Cleveland Browns will wear the uniforms from the 1957-59 seasons when

    hey battle the Giants this Monday. The uniform features the following chang-es:

    Three-inch brown player numbers on both sides of the helmet (used from 1957-60).

    Includes the removal of the current two brown stripes running on either sideof the white stripe down the middle of the helmet. The single white stripe wasused in that manner from 1952, when the Browns went from all-white helmetsminus any striping, to orange helmets until 1960, when the two brown stripeswere added.

    The return of a thinner brown stripe, surrounded by the two orange stripes, run-ning the length of the side of the white pants.

    There will be no numbers on the shoulder of the brown jerseys.

    Instead of solid brown socks, the Browns will go back to the brown-white-or-ange-white-orange-white-brown color striping.

    of Fame in 2005. The durable Wiggin was the picture of endurance, playevery game for 11 seasons in Cleveland. Despite playing his entire cardefensive end, Wiggin recorded three career interceptions and returned hiinterception in 1960, 20 yards for a touchdown. Born in Modesto, Calif., Wreturned to his alma mater and coached for three years after a three-yeaas a coach with the Kansas City Chiefs.

    Walter Johnson DT 64 275 lbs Years with Browns: 1965-76Nicknamed Zoom for his notorious quickness off the ball, Johnson was by the Browns in the second round of 1965 NFL draft and went on to play game of all of his 13 seasons in the league. Johnson teamed with DT Sherk to create one of the most dominant defensive tackle tandems of theirDuring his career, Johnson fronted a Browns defense that notched twenmore forced fumbles in every season he was on the team. Even as an indefensive lineman, Johnson corralled two interceptions during his storied cand even broke off a 24-yard kickoff return playing special teams in 1972.

    The Cleveland Browns named Mel Tucker defensiordinator. In 2008, Tucker received a two-year coextension and is signed through the 2010 season.er spent the last three seasons as the Browns defebacks coach under head coach Romeo Crennel.

    Tucker, a Cleveland native, inherited a young seary in 2007 as the Browns ranked 24th in the leallowing 230.1 yards passing per game. Tucker wsponsible for the development of two young safetthe secondary and tutoring youth at the corner poas well.

    Tucker assisted in the development of two draft choices who made an immediate impact in the Browns secondary.
