Kemp starred for both the field hockey and lacrosse teams during the mid-

1980s, earning all-conference honors in field hockey and All-America distinction in lacrosse. As a field hockey player, Kemp ranked fourth on the school’s all-time scoring list (82 points) at the conclusion of her career. Kemp scored 32 career goals, which were the fourth most at the end of her career and ninth at the time of her induction. Kemp earned second-team All-Big Ten honors in 1985, as the Wildcasts won the Big Ten title, reached the national semifinals and finished 20-2.

A four-time, first-team All-Big Ten honoree, Amy Kekeisen Fedorchak helped NU win

three Big Ten championships and reach the NCAA semifinals twice. Most impressive about Kekeisen’s career is that NU’s fourth all-time leading goal scorer twice was named the Big Ten Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year. In 1985, she also earned Big Ten Player of the Year and NCAA Championship All-Tournament team honors. Kekeisen was tabbed an honorable mention All-American as a junior in 1984 and a first-team All-America selection as a senior in 1985. Internationally, Kekeisen was a member of the U.S. Under-21 National Team in 1985.

Antoinette Lucas, a 1991 Northwestern graduate, was one of 16 players chosen

to represent the United States at the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996. Selected to the National Senior squad in 1990, Lucas earned a silver medal in the 1995 and 1999 Pan American Games, a bronze medal in the 1991 Pan American Games and a bronze medal in the Women’s World Cup in 1994. She has competed in over 110 international matches. During her collegiate career at North-western, Lucas was a two-time All-American in both field hockey and lacrosse. She led the ’Cats to four-straight NCAA Tournament ap-pearances in field hockey, including the Final Four in 1989 where she was named to the all-tournament team.

Kathleen Kochmansky is NU’s only three-time first-team field hockey All-American

(1982, 1983, 1984). Kochmansky helped NU to three straight NCAA tournament appearances, earning All-Tournament honors in 1983 as the ’Cats reached the national semifinals. She remains among NU’s all-time field hockey leaders in career scoring and career goals scored. As a lacrosse player, Kochmansky also earned All-America accolades three times. She was a second-team honoree in 1983 and 1984 and earned honorable mention in 1985. She holds the NU record for most goals scored in a game, and is second on NU’s career goals scored list.

One of eight Northwestern Female Ath-letes of the Decade for the 1980’s, Averill

was a six-time All-American in field hockey and lacrosse. As a field hockey player, she won the Broderick Award, given annually to the top collegiate athlete in the sport. Averill was the Northwestern and Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year for the 1986-87 school year. She was a four-time All-Big Ten, All-Midwest, and All-America selection. NU posted a 72-13-3 overall record and won three Big Ten titles during her career. In lacrosse, the Wildcats posted a 37-12 mark during her tenure and placed fifth nation-ally in three of her four seasons. She was a three-time All-South recipient and two-time All-America pick.

WILDCATS ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE

Senich entered Northwestern as a high school field hockey All-American and left

in similar fashion as a three-time CFHCA All-American (first-team in 1990 and 1991). She was the defensive lynchpin on the Wildcats’ nationally ranked teams from 1988-91, lead-ing NU to three NCAA Field Hockey tourna-ment appearances. In her final season, Senich was named the Midwest Collegiate Most Valuable Player and the Midwest Collegiate Defensive Player of the Year, an honor she won a year earlier in 1990 as well. A member of the 1990 U.S. National Team, Senich cur-rently ranks 10th on Northwestern’s all-time scoring list with 86 points (39 goals and 8 as-sists). In addition, her 39 goals are presently the seventh-most in NU history.

COLLEEN SENICH-FUNKFIELD HOCKEY (1988-92)

One of Northwestern’s most decorated female athletes, Oleykowski was a

three-time first-team All-America in lacrosse (1985, ’86 and ’87) and a three-time All-Big Ten selection in field hockey (first team in 1985 and ’86). She earned the reputation as the na-tion’s top attack player in lacrosse after leading the country in goals (68) in 1986 and goals per game (5.54) in 1987. In field hockey, she helped lead the Wild-cats to a 72-13-3 record, four top-five NCAA finishes and three conference champion-ships. She was a 1985 NCAA All-Tournament selection and a two-time All-Midwest Region pick. Upon her graduation, she ranked 10th in career scoring, despite playing defense.

KATE OLEYKOWSKIFIELD HOCKEY (1984-87)

Halley was a three-time All-American, earning first-team honors in 1991 and

‘92, after receiving second-team kudos in 1990. She was named Northwestern’s NCAA Woman of the Year in 1993 and also received the “N” Club’s Performance Award. She also was a GTE Academic All-District first-team recipient in 1993. Halley earned first-team All-Big Ten honors in 1992. She was a part of three NCAA Tourna-ment teams (1989, 1990 and 1991), with the 1989 team reaching the NCAA national semifinals and placing third. Her long list of national-team accomplishments includes being a member of the U.S. National Field Hockey Team in 1990 and 1991, and a mem-ber of the U.S. Junior National Team in 1990.
