In principle, neurosurgery fo-cuses on the surgical treatmentof diseases and injuries of thenervous system. However, it isnot only a question of surgery. The previous analysis of the clin-ical picture, the diagnostic find-ings and the decision for or evenagainst a surgical interventionare as important. The actualsurgery already starts with theplanning. Which route through

the inner skull is the safest and the most efficient at thesame time? Which supportive instruments can assist us inan effective way? Which implant should be chosen forspine surgery? There are standards, but there are alsoindividual treatment measures. Eventually, the state-of-the-art technical equipment, which is available in the Kli-nikum Ingolstadt, is not sufficient. Only the special knowl-edge and the surgical experience guarantee the success-ful treatment of the patient. The Neurosurgery Clinic ofKlinikum Ingolstadt also performs surgeries of the high-est degree of difficulty on an international top level. This iswhat my team and I stand and vouch for. Incidentally, aclose cooperation is maintained with the NeurologyClinic under the management of Prof. Dr. GüntherOchs, director, the Institute for Diagnostic andInterventional Radiology under the manage-ment of Prof. Dr. Dierk Vorwerk, director, theSurgical Clinic II under the management ofDr. Michael Wenzl, director and private lecturer,as well as with the the Clinic for Anaesthesiologyand Intensive Medicine under the managementof Prof. Dr. Gunther Lenz, director.
