here. An earlier graveyard is said to be located on another slope further in the woods. Local assistance
will be required to find this site. The two graveyards were established by Cherokee Indian families.
Raleigh Pinn, a patriot and soldier of the Revolutionary War is likely buried here as he owned land at this
location. (See Fairmount Baptist on Buffaloe Ridge and Fairmount Baptist on Stapleton, page 144, Rev.

miles to Pryor Creek Road (754). Turn left on Pryor Creek Rd and go for.1 mile to a farm gate on the left.

a part of Pryor’s Vale and also has been called the “Jennings Place.” The tract was owned by B.H. &
Peggy Pryor Campbell and also known as Puppy Creek Farm. Proceed to the top of the hill bearing left.
At the top you will see two walnut trees. At the base of the walnut tree on the left is the remaining field
stone marker. This was a small cemetery with only 4-5 stones originally. Possibly there are Pryors buried
here. It is reported that Becky Pryor’s father-in-law, Cabel Pryor, came here to a funeral in his youth,
early in the 1900’s. Site is in a pasture and is not fenced.

drive and into the field through a closed gate. At the fork in the trail, go straight. You will need someone
to guide as the farm is laden with trails in and out of the woods. The site of this burial area is on what was
known as the Alley Hudson Place and may have some association with William Pryor (1752) – who
owned the adjoining farm, now called Walnut Hill Farm circa 1813 and who may have owned this site at
one time. This burial area may contain Hudsons. Nearby are the remains of an old home site, the
chimney partially remaining. It is reported that Robert Abner Franklin lived in this house at one time and
2 of his children were born here. The burial area is to the right of a trail in the woods not far from the
cabin. It consists of 12 or more fieldstone markers among the trees.
