Welcome to the 2010 Minnesota HomeCare Association Member Directory. With all of the changes going on in home care and hospice this is an invaluable tool for those making referrals to home care and hospice agencies. We hope that you will put this tool to good use. The Minnesota HomeCare Association is a statewide, non-profit association whose purpose is to promote the delivery of quality health care and supportive services in a variety of home living environments. The association believes home care should be an integrated part of the health care system and be available to anyone who needs it. MHCA is the voice for home care in Minnesota. MHCA represents approximately 300 member organizations which provide hands-on care to Minnesota residents in their homes or assisted living facilities. MHCA VISION/MISSION

HOW MHCA BEGAN The Minnesota HomeCare Association (MHCA) has its roots as a council of the Minnesota League for Nursing where, in 1970, it was organized as the Assembly of Home Health Nursing Agencies. In 1989, the council re-organized as the independent Minnesota HomeCare Association, which today has approximately 300 provider and affiliate members versus in 1971, when there were 15 member agencies. HOW MHCA OPERATES A 13-member Board of Directors, elected by the voting members, guides the affairs of MHCA. The Board elects its’ own officers: Chair, Vice Chair, Past Chair and Treasurer. Issues and concerns of home care providers are identified and discussed through a system of committees and teams. These issues are then brought to the Board of Directors as policy or for official position recommendations. The Board reviews the recommendations, discusses the issues involved and then votes on the recommendations. The Executive Director oversees the daily operations of MHCA with the aid of a Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant, Communications Manager, Education Programs Director, and a Government Relations Director.
