The a rray of high-tec h fea tures on o ffer inc ludes: an a irc
ra ft-like head-up informationd isp lay (Pilot HUD); ad ap tive
lighting (Bi-Xeno n Sma rt Bea m); a dap tive c ruise c ontrol;Saab
DriveSense adap tive c hassis with rea l-time damp ing c ont rol;
keyless entry andsta rting; tri-zone a ir c ond ition ing; dyna mic
pa rking assistanc e a nd Saab XWD with arear eLSD, the
industry-lead ing a ll-whe el-drive system.
The a ll-turbo powe rtra in line-up sta rts a t 1.6 liters and c
arries forward Saab s rightsizingengine strategy, which focuses on
responsible performance through thedeve lopment o f highly effic
ient a nd rela tively sma ll four c ylinder turbo e ng ines.
Thereis a c hoic e o f three fue ls - ga soline, d iesel and E85 b
ioethanol and with dieselpow er, the a ll new 9-5 offers CO 2
emissions as low asn139 g/km.

The fa c e o f the a ll new 9-5 is defined by a d eep grille
flanked with curving, ic e-bloc khea dlamp units. The entire
glasshouse is p resented as a wrap around mono g raphic ,
the d isguised windshield and side p illars giving the c ab in
Saab s signa ture c oc kpitlook. Squint slightly, and the p rop
ortions of the windshield a nd roo f bec om erem iniscent o f the c
lassic 900 mod el.
View ed from any angle, the a ll new 9-5 cuts a strong and pow
erful stanc e. Theorga nic sc ulp ture of the low-slung bod y
blends c lea n, uncluttered lines with na tura l,c urvac eo us
shapes. Brand design c ues a re evident in the hoc key stick
belt-line, thestrong rea r C-p illa rs and the fuselage-smo oth
surfac ing o f the bod ywo rk. The largeSaab logo e mb ossed in the
c enter of the g rille c harac terizes the mo re assertive, self-c
onfide nt design langua ge .
The c a r s dynamic c ha rac ter is em phasized by a fa lling
roo f-line tha t culminates inswee p ing rea r p illars which b utt
ress a slightly recessed rea r sc ree n. La tent energy isc onveyed
by fende rs tha t a re sub tly pulled out to me lt into the w hee
ls. Below tha tsmo oth, fla t rea r dec k, a full-width, ice -bloc
k rea r light b ar wraps into signa turelighting.

Driver-focused cabinInside the spac ious c ab in, simple forms
define its a rc hitec ture and e c ho the d esign
purity of the exterior. Comp a red to its pred ec essor, legroo
m is increased both frontand rea r. The c hoice of m aterials, the
fit and finish a nd the ta c tile q uality of thec ontrols all
reflect the a ll new 9-5s p rem ium a ppe al.
The d river-foc used c oc kpit is trad itiona l Saab , while its
exec ution is a ll new . The dee pc ente r c onsole sweep s up a t
a sha llow angle a round the d river into the ma ininstrume nt d
isp lay, wh ich is topped by a nea t ventilation zone. Deep ly rec
essed ma ind ia ls inc lude a rolling a ltime ter speed rea d-out,
a refe renc e to Saa b s avia tionheritage from the Ae ro X co nc
ep t. Driver disp lays, inc luding the o p tiona l head -upd isp
lay (Pilot HUD) in the wind shield , a re p red om inantly illumina
ted in signa ture Saabgreen a nd have a c risp , floa ting app ea
ranc e. The c a r s ignition, now a sta rt/ stop
button, rem ains between the front sea ts, next to the gea r
shift.
Infota inment c hoices inc lude a top -of-the-line ha rma n/ ka
rdon surround sound aud iosystem a nd an8-inch touchsc reen naviga
tion system with hard d isk storage for map da ta and 10 GBof jukeb
ox-style music files. A la rge c ente r c onsole p rovides stowa ge
a nd c onne c tionsfor seve ra l porta b le devices through USB and
Aux ports a longside a 12V po we r out let.
Rea r passeng ers can ac c ess the ir ow n aud io or wa tc h a
DVD. The rea r sea tentertainment unit in the b ac k of the c enter
c onsole ac c omm od a tes aud io c ontrolsand fold-out view ing sc
ree ns a re insta lled in the front sea t-ba c ks. Wired and

Saab XWD, the ind ustry-lea d ing a ll-wheel-drive system, a
lrea dy ava ilab le on the Saab9-3, is offe red with a ll eng ines
excep t the 1.6-liter ga soline and 160 hp turbo d iesel.

Two d ifferent suspension layouts a re fac tory-fitted ac c

Saab ha s som e 30 yea rs expe rienc e in turboc ha rging eng
ines and the a ll-turbopow ertra in line-up in the a ll new 9-5
further develop s Saab s rightsizing e ng inestra teg y. At launc
h, the four cylinder choice c om prises a 160 hp, 2.0-liter turbo d
ieselwith CO2 em issions of just 139 gm/ km a nd a 2.0-lite r
gasoline turbo deve lop ing 220 hp.A top -of-the-line 2.8V6 turbo,
gene ra ting 300 hp and 400 Nm o f torque , is offe redexc lusively
w ith Saab XWD.
Shortly afte r launc h, a sma ll, 1.6-liter gasoline turbo with
180 hp w ill be introd uc ed ,together with a 2.0-liter BioPow er
E85-ca pab le engine. A p ow erful 190 hp, 2.0-lite rtwo -stage
turbo d iesel, gene ra ting 400 Nm o f torque, will c om plete the
p ow ertra in
line-up.
All transmissions are six-speed.
New eraDefined and eq uipped by Saab as its top -of-the-line c
