W here else can you walk through a redwood tree, play baseball on fabled Wrigley Field, and snow tube in a drizzle and not get wet but in Manteca? Some 2.7 million people in 2009 walked through the replica redwood tree at Man- teca’s Bass Pro Shops to enter an outdoor lovers’ paradise complete with a massive fish tank, indoor waterfalls, and various art and displays depicting the Delta, Sierra, and nearby Yosemite Valley. It won’t take you long to find out why the typical visitor stays at least two hours at the unique store located on the Highway 120 Bypass and Union Road. A little over a mile away at the Highway 120 Bypass and Airport Way some 400,000 out-of-town visitors played ball and watched their friends and family play at the Big League Dreams sports complex. It features six replica Major League Baseball fields complete with stadium-style seating, two restaurants, an indoor soccer arena, and bat- ting cages plus a playground for the kids. Just off the western end of the Highway 120 Bypass at Interstate 5 and Manthey Road nearly 130,000 people visit the Pump- kin Maze each year that is open throughout October complete with three corn mazes, a zip line, pumpkin blasters, train rides, and much more. Then from Thanksgiving week until Jan. 1 it turns into Christmas on the Farm. At the same time a 30-foot high covered snow hill is open and stays open until the end of February allowing young and old alike to snow tube and play in artifi- cial snow. Altogether 50,000 people visited Dell’Osso Christmas on the Farm and snow hill in its first season in 2009-10.
