Summary
- For Subaru’s 2010 “Share the Love” campaign, Meals On Wheels Association of America (MOWAA) gave local Meals On Wheels programs across the country three opportunities to receive Subaru “Share the Love” grants to help them serve nutritious meals to homebound seniors in need during the holiday season.
- 246 grants were given out, totaling $140,100.
Grant Opportunity One
- “Share the Love” Story Contest- MOWAA asked Meals On Wheels
programs to write a 200 word essay about how their volunteers and staff “Share the Love” with their senior clients.
- 146 Programs received $100 or $500 grants.
Grant Opportunity Two
- Press Release Challenge- MOWAA provided a press release
template for programs to customize and send to their local media outlets to share with their communities.
- 100 Programs participated and received $1,000 or $2,000 grants.

Grant Opportunity Three
- “Like the Love” Contest- MOWAA posted the “Share the Love”

- Total Funds Awarded - $8,000
The MOWAA Member Blog received 8,705 “likes” and
comments about our Meals On Wheels programs’
“Share the Love” stories.
Overall Impact
Because of the Subaru “Share the Love” contest, nearly 150 programs received funding to maintain or expand their senior nutrition programs during the holiday season.
