Dashboard Testimonials

Every Monday morning I check my gifts from unassigned

constituents Dashboard and feed promising leads to my

fundraisers in those areas. It provides new leads and cuts

down on the time of having to review the whole lists of

weekly donors.

– Regional Research

I especially like that the dashboard is a “one stop shop” for basic

event info. It’s helpful for events like Alumni Reunion

Weekend where we are in charge of 40+ events at the same

time. I love having one place to go to see all the basic

information without having to open each event separately.

– Engagement Events

Page 11: 2010.bbcon.ppt.dashboards

Dashboard Testimonials

My dashboard saves time by generating an instant, up-to-date

snapshot of gifts. I appreciate that the dashboard links me

directly to the donor record for more in depth information,

without having to retrieve paper copies.

– Donor Services

It is a great help because it gives me a quick snapshot every day

of the gifts that will need an acknowledgment. As a result, I

can plan my short-term work load more effectively.

– Donor Relations

Page 12: 2010.bbcon.ppt.dashboards

Blackbaud’s Conference for Nonprofits 2010 | Teresa Griffith Pavelich | Page #12

Dashboard Testimonials

I love my dashboards! I am able to get thank you notes out to donors as soon as gifts are posted. Previously I couldn’t do this until a gift report was circulated, which could be days later. The ability to see gifts given to certain programs enables me to notify the leaders of those programs who are quick in making thank you calls/sending notes. All of this just allows us to provide better stewardship of our donors.

– Development Officer

I have a dashboard that brings up all gifts coming in from alumni who are currently in their reunion year. I reach out to many of these donors for visits and to recruit reunion volunteers. It’s an easy way to reach out to an alum – thanking for the gift and asking to meet to discuss the upcoming reunion. I’ve identified several volunteers and have made visits with many alumni via the reunion-year alumni dashboard I have on my homepage.

Effective Use of Dashboards: Know Query

Brush up on your query skills

Know your data

Understand what type of query to use

Page 14: 2010.bbcon.ppt.dashboards

Blackbaud’s Conference for Nonprofits 2010 | Teresa Griffith Pavelich | Page #14

Effective Use of Dashboards: Exploit Query

Query is a grouping tool, not a reporting tool…

…unless you’re building a Dashboard!

Use Filter tab to build your criteria

Use Output tab to create Dashboard display

Use Sort tab to arrange data

Using queries for Dashboards creates the most

personalized options for Dashboards.

Each user can have their very own Dashboards

set-up to meet their needs.

Page 15: 2010.bbcon.ppt.dashboards

Dashboard example: Gifts from prospects

Use to show recent gifts from prospects

Use Gift Date Added to pull most

recently added gift

Greater than or equal to last week

will show anything from current

week and previous week

Keep output fields simple!

More complicated = duplicates

Change column names to be

more user friendly

Don’t forget to sort!
