It was 2009 when product design students Andrew

Duffy, Craig Tyler and Edward Harrison built a

machine for making plastic objects, which ispowered by a cordless drill.

The article where you get all the needed

explanations (and images) is at: http://www.

    dezeen.com/.../rotational-mould...

Whilst Studying on a BA honours degree, Product

Design students Andrew Duffy, Craig Tyler and

Edward Harrison wanted to learn more about a

manufacturing process named rotational moulding. It was decided that the best way to learn about

this process was to construct a miniature machine.

To have an idea is one thing, to fully understand

the process is paramount to good design...

    Japaneses do it better!

Koichi Matsumoto founded Tenga in 2005. In only

six years they developed a number of product

fairly impressive. These ones here above belongs

    tothe 3D series. Mamma mia!

    Paris ! :)

    Tony Cragg is always perfect.

The first time I saw Tony Cragg stuff was so long

ago that I forgot. But I remember that it was

Corrado Levi showing to myself and other

Cliostraat people an early piece Cragg did with

orange pipe. I was stunned by the intelligence, the

simplicity and the beauty of it. Lovely to see that

some 20 years later, Cragg keep working at the

finest level. More images of his dice sculptures at:

    http://www.facebook.com/media/set/

Cragg says: "At some point weve got to stop

asking ourselves what is the meaning of

everything, maybe its not so very important what

it means. Its probably more important what the

sense of it is.. they are two very basic and

    different things".

    Siwa, Egypt

Would you like a solar sinter?

This is one of the most interesting machines seen

in the last months. He is Markus Kayser and he has

been working now some years on this 3d Sinter (a

3d printer that uses sunlight and sand to make

    glass objects in the desert).

Kayser writes: "My first manually-operated solar-

sintering machine was tested in February 2011 in

the Moroccan desert with encouraging results that

led to the development of the current larger and

fully-automated computer driven version - the

Solar-Sinter. The Solar-Sinter was completed in

mid-May and later that month I took this

experimental machine to the Sahara desert near

Siwa, Egypt, for a two week testing period. The

machine and the results of these first experiments

presented here represent the initial significant

steps towards what I envisage as a new solar-

powered production tool of great potential".

    Tripoli, Libya

    Fashion Icon & Fashion Victim

Gaddafi had this curious idea to constantly mix

Saddam Hussein and Michael Jackson dressing

code. The result was unprecedented. Look at this

picture for instance. Compared to him Berlusconi

and Sarkozy looks like two petty salesmen, Obama

looks like an undertaker and the Japanese prime

minister a lousy salary-man (like the ones you can

find every morning on the Yamanote line). No

doubt Gaddafi was a criminal and a moster but he

knew his way when it was time to dress up. More

    Naviglio Della Martesana, Crescenzago

The simplest way to understand how the Chinese

are making their way trough the global world is to

eat often in a Chinese restaurant.

Nearby my place there are all kind of different

option when it is time to eat. The Italian trattoria,

the kebab, a pizza joint where you have an

Egyptian pizzaiolo, a Japanese/Peruvian, and (ofcourse) a Chinese.

In a Chinese restaurant they price is half, the

quality is pretty much the same and all the people

there work double as their local counterparts. Notto mention that you can eat either way Chinese or

local. And this is ms Lucia (I don't know her

original Chinese name) and her family.

Multiply ms Lucia by one billion people busy in

doing all kind of human activities and you get

current world and the reason why Chinese are

taking over. It is very simple: they work more than

    the rest.
