One of the nice things of this trip to Tokyo is that I
start to post images about Japanese design and
architectures and then people started to send methings. Here is a spatial concept by Minoru
Takeyama, supercool architect, although not as
famous as other ones. More about him at: http:

New York, NY, United States
As I was saying, I was at this dinner with various
people belonging to some Milanese (recent)
important past. Also Santi Caleca was there and Iwas curious about him.
I knew his work but I never really talked to him.
Very decent man. Nice chitchat, very pleasant.
I always thought that a lot of Sottsass / Memphissuccess is related to Caleca's photographs. My
feeling is that without him, it would have been a
different story. Architects and designers don't like
to talk about it, but if the photographer ain't
good, you can be best, but there isn't much youcan do.
Unfortunately there isn't much to see on-line
about Caleca's works and for the time being I am
too lazy to scan from Terrazzo magazine

Good...

It was ten past five. The old lady was walking
toward the new year. Long way to go, but thecolor palette was cute.

Ribeiro Prto, Brazil
God's Heel
Scrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira deOliveira, MD (19 February 1954 4 December
2011), simply Scrates, was a Brazilian footballer
who played as an attacking midfielder.
He was also a qualified doctor.

"If Vincent van Gogh and Edgar Degas had known
when they were doing their work the level of
recognition that they were going to have, they
would not have done them the same. You have to
enjoy doing the art and not think 'will I win?'"

"When I named one of my sons Fidel, my mother
said 'that's a bit of a strong name to give a child'.
'Mother,' I said, 'look at what you did to me"
~ Scrates Brasileiro Sampaio de Souza Vieira de
Oliveira, aka Scrates
Scrates was a technical playmaker, known for
great through passes and his vision on the field, as
well as his physical strength. He was also a two-
footed player and a prolific goal scorer. His ability
to read the game was highly valued, and his
signature move was the blind heel pass.
He was considered to be one of the greatest
midfielders ever to play the game. Easily
recognizable for his beard and headband, he
became the "symbol of cool for a whole generation
of football supporters".
He died on the 4th of December, and here you
have the link to a very nice article about him on

Yamanashi, Japan
Generally, I like minimal and invisible
architecture. But when you find architects not
fearful to show some boomboom-ness, i think it is
quite ok. More on Kenzo Tange and his Yamanashi

Apart from Beniamino Servino, Italians are very
serious and traditional when you get to talk about"presepe" (Christmas Crib). In Italy you can joke on
everything, you can curse God every five minutes,
but "presepe" is untouchable. Most likely it is
because of its link to children and childhood.
Anyway, the images of the "Nativity as seen fromsheeps" (nice Christmas work by Beniamino) are
here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/...
