Cam & Emma’s Thoughts...On behalf of our family, I would like to welcome you to our annual bull sale.

There’s a ton of excitement on the prairies. Dug outs are full, pastures have greened up and calf prices are gainingstrength. The upward swing in prices and bright forecast makes updating your bull battery a good investment.

Often times, when I’m out visiting with the guys, I get asked, ‘Why do I need to be using a Charolais bull?”As always, Ilike to reply the following:

“Performance and consistency in your calf crop pays. As the Canadian dollar rises, grain prices are on a steady increase,now more than ever before, feed efficient calves that get on feed and grow are highly sought after by feedlots across thecountry. Inefficient calves that have to be backgrounded to be grown out enough before being placed in feedyards onlymean a loss in profitability.”

We are confident and happy to tell you that we are always working on improving our base. Good is not good enough.Fundamentals like feet, hair and performance are important to us, but so are other immeasurable things like calvingease, temperament and calving vigor. These are things that are monitored closely and are not swept under the carpet. Ifit doesn’t work for us, it will not work for you.

You can be certain that you are getting the very best of over 40 years of breeding Charolais cattle.We do not sell off thebest of our females. The only females that leave this herd come from the bottom end. By doing this, we have steadilybeen able to increase the numbers of bulls that we can offer to you.

Sires

Sanchez was our high seller in our 2008 bull saleselling for $32,000 to McLeod Livestock. His calves have proven thatSanchez is going to be a breeding individual. He adds lots of round inthe hip, lots of guts and a good solid foot. The cow family may be oneof our best in our herd and is definitely an outcross to Canadiangenetics. The bull now runs in our pastures as we bought back part ofthe possession. He is a easy keeping herd bull.

SANCHEZ

We purchased Lanza from Winn Man in their springbull sale in 2007. When we saw the picture of Lanza we drove straightto the farm to see him. We had to have him as we were struck by hisperformance, haircut and testicle size… he was the perfect fit! He siresbulls with a ton of hair, big nuts and great numbers. By the way, ifyou’re stuck on the whole birth weight thing, he’ll help you there too.

Chiapas was purchased in our 2006 bull sale byDiamond K Ranch, but needing a dependable walking bull he wasbrought back to work in our pastures. Chiapas produces easy doing,curly haired, performance bulls that our easy to have around with theirgentle disposition. His mother reaching nine years always raises ourbest!

Well, what more can be said about Latoro. Aftereleven years, Latoro finally died, but not before leaving us with a legacyof sons and daughters that have done nothing but made us friends andmoney.

When Latoro came to us from Buddy Cobb in Montana he waseverything that the Charolais business wasn’t looking for. He wasn’tpolled. He wasn’t pretty. He wasn’t a Wyoming Wind. He was perfect.Many breeders thought we has lost our minds (some still do) but ourcommercial producers figured it out right away. And now, eleven yearslater, Latoro sons, grandsons and great-grandsons continue to makewaves in our breed and keep real cattlemen coming back for more“white” bulls.

When we found Latoro in the Montana mountains overelven years ago, Latoro became one of our best herd bulls that have everwalked our pastures. After he passed away we decided to look foranother “Latoro” and new genetics. We found Nuevo. Nuevo came fromcobb’s 2008 spring bull sale; his mom at the age of twelve was still inproduction. Nuevo gives bull calves a thick, curly coat, large testiclesize and high performance.

Our second high seller from our 2009 bull sale toBeck Farms is another bull we are breeding to. His name: Panama. Weflew to Australia in 2006 to find a new genetic and came home with sireLopez. Lopez genetics add a lot of natural thickness, easy doing andruggedness we like to see in our bulls. Panama was the son we felt hadall this and had the power of one of our best cow families. The motheris a perfectly uddered female which we hope will make Panamadaughters that much better.

In 2002 we sold Eldorado in our spring bull saleto Horseshoe E. Struggling to find a heifer bull that would produceherd bulls and great females we decided to AI to Eldorado. Calving easeplus thickness made him one of our best bull we ever AI’ed our heifersto. The bulls and females are all keepers and our heifers calve, get upand rebreed the next year. Not many heifer bulls can do this and raise atop bull for your bull pen.

Bidding:

Each animal will sell to the highestbidder... no by-bidding will be permitted.

Disputes:

Bidding will be reopened between theparties involved in dispute. If no furtherbid is made, the buyer will be the personfromwhom the auctioneer accepted thelast bid. The auctioneer’s decisions on alldisputes will be final.

Announcements:

All announcements made from theauction block or on the weigh sheets willtake precedence over the printed matterin the catalogue. Buyers are thereforecautioned to pay attention to suchdisclosures.

Semen check will be done in April unlessthe buyer requests it to be done earlier. Ifyour bull does not pass his semen checkthe buyer will be refunded their moneyand will be replaced with another bull. Atthe end of the season the bull will then bereturned.

Should any bull fourteen (14) months ofage or over fail to prove a breeder afterbeing used on females known to bebreeders, the matter shall be reported inwriting to the seller within six (6) monthsfollowing the date of purchase or six (6)months after the bull has reachedfourteen (14) months of age. The sellerwill have the right and privilege of six (6)months of age to prove the bull a breeder.No guarantee is given that semencollected from the bull will freeze.

Exception Guarantee:

In cases where the animal is subjected toany hormonal or surgical reproductiontechniques after the sale, this guaranteeshall be null and void.

Certificate of Registration:

Each animal will carry papers issued bythe Canadian Charolais association.Acertificate of registry duly transferredwill be furnished to the buyer for eachanimal after payment has beenmade.

Health:

All animals in the sale have met allnecessary health requirements.

Liabilities:

All persons attend the sale at their ownrisk and the seller and sale managerassume no liability, legal or otherwise, forany accidents that occur.

Mail Bids:

Bidders unable to attend the sale mayphone, wire or mail their bids andinstructions to the sale manager,auctioneer or special representative. Bidsmust be received in sufficient time priorto the sale.

Delivery:

Free delivery to Saskatchewan,Manitobaand Alberta. Other destinations will be atshared cost.

Insurance:

Insurance will be available sale day.Westrongly recommend that insurance ispurchased for full value. A. SparrowFarms will pay for 2% of your insurance.All bulls left after the sale must beinsured.
