AIA Florida is extremely grateful for the commitment and support of our sponsors. The AIA Florida Convention would not be possible with out them. These member companies represent some of the most active businesses supporting AIA Florida throughout the year, giving their time and financial support to the events that promote the architectural profession in Florida. They definitely understand the importance of our mission and are proud to support it.

The Florida Natural Gas Association is the 2011 AIA Florida Sponsor of the Year. Throughout the year, Florida Natural Gas Association works on projects to provide you with the educational experiences that enrich and advance your practice and they have made that commitment again to this year’s convention.

Signs are everywhere. They lead us from Point A to B and provide direction for a future destination. Right now our future is unwritten, but we can set goals, join as a team and reach the future we envision.

I invite you to join us at the AIA Florida 2011 Annual Convention in Naples, July 28-30 as we Imagine the Future...and Make It Happen! Sessions this year are more than just CEU hours on a transcript. They will require us to expand our minds, think creatively and instead of reaching towards the proverbial, whether inside or outside, reach beyond our reality.

This year is also about the team - the team in your firm, the team that supports you at home, and the team of AIA Florida members accomplishing common goals. The schedule this year provides for more networking, more time exploring and more

opportunities to incorporate our families. I encourage you to bring along your family - there is so much to do! I also encourage you to share the Convention experience with those in your firm.

Together we can achieve more for our profession, our practices and our lives. I look forward to seeing you at the Naples Grande Beach Resort.

General Session Speaker

Marty Sklar began his Disney career at Disneyland in June, 1955 -- one month before Disneyland opened. He was hired to create The Disneyland News, a tabloid newspaper sold on Main Street for 10 cents during Disneyland’s first summer. Two weeks after he started -- at age 21 -- Marty had to present the newspaper concept to Walt Disney. Fortunately, Walt liked it, and Marty says that’s why his career at Disney lasted 54 years.

Starting in 1974, for 30 years, Marty was the creative leader of Walt Disney Imagineering as Vice President, President and Vice Chairman, and Principal Creative Executive. He retired as Executive Vice President, and Imagineering Ambassador.
