International Student Employment

• Partnered with the Center for Global and Multicultural Engagement toassistinternationalstudentswiththeiruniquecareerneeds.

•Developed a 4-hour International Student Employment workshop,featuringsessionsonresumesandcoverletters,jobsearchstrategies,andtheopportunitytospeakwithanimmigrationlawyer,providedthe50internationalstudentsinattendancewithwaystosucceedintheirjobsearch.

• Facilitated a presentationattheOctober2011RegionVIINAFSAConferenceinMobile,AlabamaonInternationalStudentsandCareerDevelopment:Tips for Building an Effective Collaboration with Your College or University’s Career Services Center.

Juliette McDonald,whoservesastheCooperativeEducation&InternshipAssociation(CEIA),VPfortheSoutheastRegion3,submittedaproposalduringFall2011topresentaworkshoponTheFSUCareerCenter’sCareerInternshipCertificationProgram(CICP),entitled“No Intern Left Behind: Career Internship Certification Program.” TheproposalwasacceptedandJuliettewillpresenta60-minutesessionattheCEIAConferenceinChicago,IL,April2012.

DuringSpringandFall2011,CareerCenterstaff,undertheleadershipofHaley FoutchandErin Harvey,conductedneedsassessment surveysregardingstudentuseofTheCareerCenter.DatawascollectedduringanacademicfairinthespringandinthefallsurveysweredistributedoutsideofHCBandtheUniversityCenterbusstop.

Outcome: Atotalof333surveyswerecollected.ThedataindicatedthatthemajorityofstudentshadheardofTheCareerCenter(93%spring;90%fall).Surveyresultsprovidedusefuldataonservicesthatstudentshadusedandinformationontopicsthatstudentswereinterestedinlearningmoreabout.

• Insurance Days in February 2011,hostedintheDunlapSuccessCenter,wascoordinatedthroughSeminoleLinkresultingin23employers,82interviewschedules,and252totalinterviews.

• TheCareerCenterparticipatedinwelcomingnewbusinessmajorstothecollege’sannualNew Student Open House;over300studentsattendedthisevent.

College of Communication and Information• Collaboratedwiththecollegetoassistineventpublicationcreation,promotions,

andregisteringstudentsattheCommunication and Information Career Day Job FairinAugust2010andMarch2011.CareerCenterstaffattendedtomeetwithemployers,students,andsupportCollegecoordinators.

• ProvidedCareerCenterrepresentationandsupporttoCommunication Futures undergraduate and graduate career development-focused courses.

• Establishedanew partnership with the Business Communication course requiring students to complete a mock interview;CareerCenterstaffmemberswillbeinvitedtoreviewthemockinterviewprocesswiththeclasseachsemester.

(RMPD) internship class offeredeveryfallandspringsemesterthatconsistsof50studentswhoarerequired to complete a Career Center Mock Interview.

• From this College, 185 new studentsregistered for SeminoleLink Plus! services and665 attended the Career Center’s 2011 expositions.

• Presented six workshopsonvariouscareer-relatedtopicstoCollegeofHumanSciences’courses,studentgroups,andattheirgraduateorientation.

College of Law•Resume-writing and career advice workshops were presentedtothe

pre-lawfreshmaninterestgroupandAlphaDeltapre-lawfraternity.

College of Medicine• Collaboratedwithstudentleadertoprovide a Career Center service to

benefit medical students who are unable to visit our main FSU campus.

• HeldPersonal Statement WorkshoptoassiststudentsinPre-PharmacyClub.

College of Music• Developedanew liaison partnershipwiththisCollege.
