Matrix X4

A long lasting period of research, development of innovative technologies, and extremely fastidious manufacturing combined with a love for music were the driving forces when designing the BRAX Matrix X2 and X4 amplifiers. Numerous reviewers have touted Matrix X4 amplifiers as, by far, the world’s most powerful amplifiers that feature the widest dynamic range for a sound that is unbelievably rich and precise.

Designed as individual audio components, the Matrix X2 and X4 amplifiers are pure, clean power machines. With a multi-layer circuit board layout using discreetly mounted Burr-Brown devices, pure silver solder, and two completely separate power supply sections; the sophisticated design delivers perfect sound reproduction through its short, unfiltered signal path.

As music is dynamic, consideration of power delivery is critical. The Matrix X2 and X4 amplifiers feature on-board current storage combined with an impedance-independent power supply that actively monitors driver impedance. Couple this with Schottky-power diodes and 32 hand-selected and matched MOSFET transistors for smooth, continuous power output.

Hand made in Germany, every X2 and X4 features an elegant, adaptable quadratic housing that is individually manufactured with the serial number custom milled into the nameplate.

The Brax X2000.2 and X2400.2 amplifiers are refined in every detail. From the extruded heat sink, available in high-grade platinum color or satin black finish, to the individually mounted RCA connectors and gold plated terminals, the X2000.2 and X2400.2 are uncompromising in their build quality.

To avoid even the smallest power losses that can affect the dynamic output, silver solder is used to reinforce the devices mounted on the circuit board. These devices include Burr-Brown op-amps used for the signal input section to achieve an unparalleled precise and natural sound reproduction.

The many signal customization features on the X2000.2 and X2400.2 amplifiers guarantee flexible installation as well as optimum performance from your sound system. Selectable 12dB or 24dB variable active crossovers can be used as high, low, or band-pass per individual channel. Input sensitivity controls, and a selectable input / output wiring configuration complete the package.

MID-BASS With form following function, the Matrix mid-bass driver takes into account acoustic accuracy, stability, and integration. The 90 mm driver comprised of pressed pulp treated with aluminum oxide powder is lightweight and highly rigid. Pair this with the solid stainless steel phase plug that eliminates standing waves for quick tight mid-bass notes. The phase plug also serves to cool the 37 mm Kapton voice-coil. Additional heat management is achieved by the specially treated magnetic pole plate ventilated with 6 holes and framed by a stainless steel ring. This same plate creates coupling volume that extends frequency response into the lower mid-bass regions improving overall driver performance. Installation is completed by integrated twist lock 24 carat gilded gold connectors and a solid stainless steel concealing ring for a customized appearance.

MIDRANGE The 2 inch Matrix midrange is comprised of resin infused silk that is pressed into a wafer-thin, lacy, transparent dome. The dome is then coated with black Acronal to ensure that it is not only airtight but also delivers a smooth attenuated sound. The 54 mm hand wound voice coil is powered by a bored neodymium ring magnet and cooled by a combination of 10 beveled holes bored directly into the air gap and a 24 mm opening in the pole piece.

TWEETERThe Matrix tweeter resides in a stout two piece, machined stainless steel housing which dissipates approximately 350 times more heat than a conventional tweeter. The 28 mm voice coil of the tweeter sits in a drilled N40 Neodymium magnet. To create coupling volume, eight holes are drilled into the stainless steel back plate and then genuine wool is placed between the back plate and the bottom of the tweeter housing. This dampened volume and internally mounted phase plug eliminates standing waves, resulting in a resonant frequency of 750 Hz. SOLID STAINLESS STEEL MOUNTING RINGThe solid stainless steel mounting ring can be used in a standard configuration to provide a flat, torsion-bearing surface for uneven mounting locations. Use It in the inverted position and it serves as a design support ring for the grill.

Defined by its boundless bass response and its dynamic listening experience the Brax Matrix 10.1 subwoofer delivers profound low frequency reproduction.

Heinz Fischer started with his trademark hand scooped cone. He then infused agave sisalana fibers with aluminum oxide, to make this driver lightweight and rigid so that it works in unity with the Matrix component set reproducing frequencies from 30Hz to 700 Hz and resulting in quick, accurate, well rounded bass.

To work in concert with the scooped cone, Heinz employed a 65mm hand wound voice coil energized by a double stacked ceramic motor. The motor structure can accept an impressive 600 watts of power in part because it is cooled by venting both the pole piece and the spider plateau.

Every hand-picked component of the Matrix subwoofer works in harmony. From a proprietary cast aluminum frame, stitched tensil leads, and piano black finish, to the perfect fit terminals – every aspect of this subwoofer has been calculated to be a compliment to your audiophile music system.
