Message
Everyone can and should dance… It is good for the body and the spirit. Therefore, we are here, assembled together in this hall to showcase to you the different talents that we have in the school.
And now, from all students of all ages ranging from two-and-a-half years until eighteen years, we warmly welcome you to the
Dancing Time Concert 2010 presenting Swan Lake!
Dancing Time Academy of Ballet and Music was initiated because of the love to dance; dancing is an art to be much appreciated. After five to six years of operation, we have seen many of our students blossom in confidence, nurturing in their focus and
discipline to master an art as well as a sport.
A big thank you to everyone for their tireless effort and support; mainly the parents who diligently send their children to classes and supporting them, the helpers who have helped us do odd bits of work and lessen our burdens and last but not least,
the students who have practiced hard to make this concert a success and for these beautiful
Performances.
This concert is also held to help create awareness to help those in need, as there are many people who are
much more unfortunate than us. All proceeds collected will be donated to charity. For the love of
dance we all have in common, thank you once again for your kind and caring heart, and enjoy the show.
Ms. Kong
With sincerest thanks, the academy would like to show our heartfelt
gratitude to all committee members and helpers who have helped make

COURSE AVAILABLE
Modern Theatre
Modern Theatre defies a single permanent definition. This
is largely due to its ability to adapt, develop and evolve with
the changing fashion in dance. Through a carefully
planned and well-tried examination syllabus, which
combines modern dance, jazz, and other dance styles,
young people are trained to become disciplined and
versatile dancers who have a professional attitude towards
dance.
Piano
The Associated Board of the Royal School of Music
(ABRSM) is the world’s leading provider of graded music
examinations and assessments. In all our activities we aim to
encourage musical enjoyment through achievement and to
foster and enhance quality in music teaching and learning.
We are committed to educational excellence, quality and
innovation in the sphere of music education and to meet the
need of music educators and their students.
Hip Hop
Hip hop (or hip-hop) is a modem sub-culture that
originated in the late 1970's in New York City. DJ
Afrika Bambaataa outlined the four pillars of hip-hop
culture: Mcing , DJing , break- dancing , and graffiti
writing . Other elements include beatboxing, hip hop
fashion, and slang Since first emerging in the South
Bronx, hip hop culture has spread around the world.
When hip hop music first began to emerge, it was
based around disc jockeys who created rhythmic
beats by looping breaks (small portions of songs
emphasizing a percussive pattern) on two turntables,
which is now more commonly referred to as
sampling. This was later accompanied by "rap" (a
rhythmic style of chanting or poetry more formally in
16 bar measures or time frames) and beatboxing, a
vocal technique mainly used to imitate percussive
elements of the music and various technical effects of
hip hop DJs. An original form of dancing and
particular styles of dress arose among lovers of this
new music. These elements experienced
considerable refinement and development over the
course of the history of the culture.
Vocal
Singing is the act of producing musicals sounds with the
voice, and augments regular speech by the use of both
tonality and rhythm. A person who sings is called a
singer or vocalist. Singers perform music known as
songs that can either be sung a cappella (without
accompaniment) or accompanied by musicians and
instruments ranging from a single instrumentalist to a full
symphony orchestra or big band. Singing is often done in
a group of other musicians, such as in a choir of singers
with different voice ranges, or in an ensemble with
instrumentalists, such as a rock group or baroque
ensemble.
