Several smaller shipyards and repair centres build a significant number of fishing, cargo and passenger vessels. Additionally, steel tugs and patrol boats are built.

Increasing nautical tourism has awakened great interest in the repair and maintenance of pleasure boats and also for the construction of such vessels so that today the Croatian marine industry offers a wide array of vessels from pedalos and sandolines to 50 m long mega-yachts meeting the highest quality standards and produced in more than 100 shipyards or plants, employing more than 1,800 people.

Croatia has a coastline of some 1,173 km. Within this length there are 718 islands and 467 islets and reefs. Taking into account the total seaboard length, there are just over 4,000 km. of the most memorable cruising grounds with magnificent sights and majestic scenery.

Living as they do by the sea, with the sea and from the sea, in a region lacking other resources, the people of the Croatian Adriatic coast have necessarily had to master the techniques of shipbuilding, especially on the islands. A variety of purposes such as fishing, transport of people and goods, trade and defence, require various kinds of vessels and those necessities have dictated the development of the Croatian shipbuilding industry and its affiliates.

In the middle of 2005, the Marine Industry Association was established within the Croatian Chamber of Economy for the purpose of gathering together the producers of pleasure and working boats in order to unify promotional activities on both the local and foreign markets.

BRODOGRADILIŠTE I MARINA BETINA d.o.o. (Shipyard and Marina Betina, Ltd.) was founded in 1948 although shipbuilding had been a traditional occupation of the local people for centuries. The basic business activities of the shipyard are building and repair of wooden ships as well as the maintenance and servicing of steel and polyester boats. The shipyard is equipped with a travel-lift having a lifting capacity of up to 260 KN and can also receive ships up to 35m length for repair and maintenance.


The company currently employs 65 full-time workers. Apart from the shipbuilders specialised for wooden ships the shipyard’s policy is to engage only fully trained and highly skilled locksmiths, welders, blacksmiths, fitters, electricians, painters and other craftsmen.

The building of wooden ships is a traditional activity on the island of Murter and most of the shipbuilding activities are concentrated in Betina where the shipyard is situated. Shipbuilding has a tradition of almost 250 years, through various forms of organised manufacture.

Shipbuilding in Betina is characterised by excellent workmanship, robust boat construction, and the choice of material (Slavonian oak). Nevertheless, other types of wood such as pine, teak, mahogany, etc., are used, based on customer requests.

In addition to the specialised workshops, the shipyard also has several hangar units of various sizes and purposes (800, 300 and 200 m2) while the total usable area of the shipyard covers almost 25,000m2. All working areas are asphalted and equipped with electricity and water supply.

KRALJEVICA Shipyard Ltd.

The KRALJEVICA Shipyard, shipbuilding and ship-repairing company, is the oldest shipyard on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea. The continuity of shipbuilding tradition in KRALJEVICA has been uninterrupted since 1729. KRALJEVICA Shipyard ranks, in view of its capacities, among medium-sized shipyards ( 500 employees, area 110,000 m2).


THE SHIPYARD’S ACTIVITIES ARE ORGANISED IN THREE MAIN GROUPS:

The company plans to launch “BSR 33”, a fiberglass vessel for sport and leisure, designed in the Mediterranean boat style.

This impressive shipyard is located in the naturally sheltered St. Peter’s Cove near Šibenik on an easily accessible and scenic shoreline, and covers 110,000 m2. During its one hundred year history the shipyard has developed from a small shipbuilding workshop into a repair yard with all modern facilities necessary for the support and overhaul of military and naval ships, liners and tourist cruisers, and, in the past several years, even mega yachts.

The shipyard’s floating dock has a loading capacity of 1,500 tons and its synchrolift’s capacity is 900 tons.

Its piers are 350 m long and are equipped with the state-of-the-art cranes. The shipyard waters cover 68,000 m2 and the company also manages the waters of the Anchorage 2 which is currently under reconstruction. The piers and infrastructure are being prepared to accommodate different sizes of vessels including mega yachts.

The activities of the shipyard are further supported by 3 tugboats, 2 mobile cranes, several forklifts and various other means of transport. Numerous workshops (electric and electronic, engineering, engine testing, mechanical, joinery, pipe, foundry, galvanic, rubber and gasket, carpentry, GRP, fairing and painting) are situated in a covered area of 45,000 m2 and are equipped with a total of 48 gantries installed in every shed. All shipbuilding activities are performed in the large shed (62m x 26m x 19m) divided into two separate areas.


The company offers a wide range of services completely relying on its 300 employees, all of them fully trained and highly skilled workers, while our Superyacht Division is equipped and manned for any type of repair and the maintenance of all types of yachts.The repair yard produces two types of small motor boats; a semi-opened Pasara 435 which can accommodate 4 persons, and a somewhat smaller boat, Gugi, for 2 persons. The company also owns the moulds for several pasara boat types and plans the production of up to one hundred boats. NCP-RB Šibenik has also bought the design and moulds for the production of a 54’ motor yacht, whose prototype will be completed in several months including a hardtop version with topline equipment. The company plans an annual production of five such yachts. NCP also has the blueprints for a 36’ motor boat as well as the hull mould and plans the production of three versions of this boat: a flybridge cruiser, an open fishing boat and a classic picnic boat. The company is also considering the idea of commencing the production of yachts up to 21m length.

NCP-RB Šibenik also plans to include boat trailers into its production programme and already produces the concrete pontoon systems for construction of marinas and ports used for nautical tourism.

NCP-RB Šibenik is authorised to provide the maintenance for various types of engines such as MTU,Yanmar, Caterpilar, Volvo-penta,Mercruser and other types of engines and gas turbines as well as Bosch fuel injection pumps.

The Salona has been manufacturing performance cruisers since 2002, following the spirit of yachtsmen looking for reliable, well-built sailing boats that would match racing performance of the best cruiser racers on the market with their comfortable cruising abilities. Since the end of 2007, the AD Boats have gradually become an integral part of the Prevent group, founded in 1952 as the manufacturer of working garment and protective clothing. In only seven years the yard has introduced seven new models, ranging from 34 to 45 feet in length. It includes the application of advanced composite materials such as epoxy based vinyl ester resins and in-house, interior computer guided production being implemented in the modern facilities in the vicinity of Split, Croatia. The total production area consists of 6.000 square meters of space with three production lines and the water testing just some hundred meters off the yard with further investments in production processes to be made in 2011.

Delta Data d.o.o. was founded in 1992. as an company primary specialised in IT and electronics. In addition to manufacturing and selling sport sailboats, LIBURNA YACHTS Ltd, a newly established company from Opatija, designs, develops and manufactures unique models of sailboats in cooperation with their numerous partners and subcontractors. In the recent future, Liburna plans to manufacture Rainbow sailboats, intended for sport and recreation. The first model, Rainbow 36, is already under construction. This project, developed by Srđan Đaković, a renowned engineer and designer from Split, considers advice of experienced international yachtsmen and boasts exquisite underwater and hull lines. Architecture & Design, internationally acknowledged design studio from Njivice, has been entrusted with the interior design whereas the very construction has been supervised by Robert Lončarić, a shipbuilder from Novi Vinodolski who has already developed regatta model Navis 27. The first plans foresee the annual manufacture of five to six boats at competitive prices for the basic model and the additional equipment.

also provide superb stability at tough seas according to Germanischer Lloyd criteria and are marked with type "A" Ocean for the area of navigation- controlled vacuum infusion technology increases the boat strength, decreases the total weight and ensures homogenous thickness without weak points- CNC ensures absolute precision in the construction of replicas, moulds and casts together with the application of first-class materials such as Reichhold gel coats and vinyl esters- great care has been taken in the production of specific details and ergonomic equipment both on deck and in the interior- small production series ensure semi-custom performance together with the "personalised" manufacture of each boat, with possible changes varying from the type of wood up to the colour of the hull.

Being extremely proud of the basic line, Liburna is also thrilled to present the two new boat versions - S (sport) and C (comfort), with the sheltered cockpit and extended cabin, hence providing more comfort for passengers. Subtype "C" is to be specifically singled out for the specific position of its roll-bar, a rather unusual solution for the Mediterranean, despite its successful international use. Namely, it is elegantly placed on the spot where the cabin changes into cockpit, hence providing more quality space by supporting spray hood and bimini top and by simultaneously carrying the boom width. In such a manner, it completely frees the cockpit from ropes.

NAVIS AUREA d.o.o. was established in 2001 and registered as a dry marina, which also offered its services for maintenance and repair of stored vessels. The company’s business flourished and, in order to respond to new challenges, the management of NAVIS AUREA decided to build a new production facility.

The strong desire for sailing and many years of experience in the polymer business prompted the company’s management to design and build their own -a vessel that would be appreciated both by younger sailors who simply love to compete in boat races as well as older ones who prefer family cruises. We also wanted to make our boats available to a wider circle, that is to boat lovers of all ages, both affordable price and acceptance of its simple but traditional shape.


All the above characteristics were skilfully combined in an ageless design of the sailing boat NAVIS 27 made by Srđan Đaković, a renowned naval architect from Split. The result of his strenuous but enthusiastic work is an excellent boat with excellent sailing performance characteristics, which has four berths in two cabins, kitchen and toilet, making it extremely comfortable even during longer cruises, whilst its keel is dismountable for easier handling and transport.

In its standard version the boat is equipped with Lewmar’s enduring and stylish deck equipment as well as with other instruments such as speedometer, depth, wind direction/strength indicators, compass and VHF station. The boat comes with 9/10 “Z-SPAR” mast with 2 spreaders.

Arba Nautika was founded in 2010 as a company specialised in the manufacture of vessels and products from plastic. The whole enterprise has been taken over from Vemax Nautika which has, in addition, yielded its products together with its ten-year-long tradition in the industry.

The company headquarters, sales and manufacture are located in Zagreb, however at different addresses. The first is to be contacted at Hinka Wuertha 16 whereas the later two are to be found in Radnička cesta 222.

ARBA 500 is a pasara (a traditional Croatian half-decked boat), intended primarily for coastal navigation and sport fishing. Due to its steadiness and stability, ARBA 500 is a reliable vessel even at longer distances while its semi-displacement hull ensures steady speed even with a weaker engine. Its lavish basic equipment provides a comfortable navigation for the maximum of five persons. Suggested engine power is to vary between 10 and 40 hp.

Technical specifications:The technologically modified hull, when combined with the strongest recommended engine, is to maintain the speed at some 20 miles. However, it is strongly advised to maintain the cruising speed at 16 miles, when ARBA 500 is to show its best performance.This vessel has been exhibited at almost all major nautical fairs during the past several years, including the ones held in Rijeka, Biograd, Zagreb and Šibenik.

Storage areas, which also serve as seats, are located on both sides of the stern and can be locked. They can accommodate essential navigational equipment, accumulator and petrol reservoirs. The sleeping area for two persons is situated in the cabin, whereas the additional upholstered board provides an extra sleeping area for the third passenger. Three large storage areas for extra clothing and tools are to be found in the cabin, as well. Four fixed windows provide sufficient light while two stainless steel windows can be opened for cabin airing. This vessel is convenient not only for beginners, but also for families undertaking excursions and sport fishermen, is planned for 2011.

In co-operation with the Brodarski Institute from Zagreb the company devised the project of a smaller vessel - MARIN 22, intended for fishing and multi-day cruises. The boat is designed so that engines power range from 50 to 150 Kw may be installed, and thus giving an appropriate speed range from 9 to 23 knots. The boat was developed keeping in mind the elements of traditional forms of Adriatic charter, but with a modern underwater design. The large open cockpit and a large transom platform provide a comfortable longer stay and swimming, but also the possibility of fishing and the use of all types of fishing gear. On board is a complete kitchen and toilet facilities, which allows comfortable multi-day stays for three or four people. Fuel containers of 2x110 litres, and a water tank of 100 litres both guarantee a high degree of self-sufficiency, enough to cruise the Adriatic.

ELAN PBO was established at the end of 2002 and employed about thirty staff. Its main business programme includes the “Elan” range of small craft. In two years almost 200 vessels have been produced.

Even though the production and sale of small vessels up to 6 meters has been very successful, the policy of the company has turned to a development programme for luxury yachts. Today PBO employs up to 90 workers and within its “Power” programme three models are currently produced: “Elan Power 35”, “Elan Power 42” and “Elan Power 48”. These three models are on sale throughout Europe and in Croatia where the market has accepted them extremely well.

The company "Kvarner" d.o.o. was founded in 1990 as a continuation of the shipbuilding trade of Ivan Krstinić who had been in the shipbuilding industry for more than 25 years. The basic activity of the company is the building of small ships, and supplementary activities (retail store for boat paint, varnish and tools as well as accounting services).

Ivan Krstinić started business with the production and maintenance of wooden boats. After 1990 the situation on the market began to change dramatically, and the company "Kvarner" d.o.o. was established and produced polyester resin boats. The first such boat was produced in 1993. Until 1999 eight boats of the types "Nautic 800" and "Nautic 860" were produced in addition to the current overhaul, maintenance and installation of engines and equipment. The company invests its profits into research and development.

Today Kvarner d.o.o. can offer three products to both the Croatian and European markets: the Kvarner 26, Kvarner 26R and Kvarner 22 which are manufactured in the production plant now three times larger than at the start of business, the first intended as motor yacht the second for fishing and/or for the transport of passengers or divers, and the third, Kvarner 22, as weekend pleasure and fishing boat.

“ADRIA 800” is a semi-displacement motor boat 7.81 meters in length and 2.90 meters beam.It can be equipped with engines from 60 to 200 hp. The 60 hp engine can reach a cruising speed of between 8 and 9 knots, with a maximum speed of about 22 knots.The interior of the boat in its standard version has a forward V berth, one side berth and a shower area. The cabin can be remodelled to include 2 or 4 berths. The cockpit is completely enclosed with large windows. It includes a complete galley area with a fridge, table and two side benches. By folding the table flat passengers can use the space as an additional double berth.

The vessel is produced in two versions: as a work boat and as a leisure boat.

Founded in 2004 BRODOGRADNJA MONACHUS d.o.o. has had its share of ups and downs in the shipbuilding business. ABOUT THE COMPANY

ORKA studio was founded in 1994 as a separate branch of a family business founded in 1967. After a decade of work and involvement with boats and nautical equipment, and prompted by our accumulated knowledge and experience, as well as a great love for the sea and boating, in 2003 we started the manufacture of our own vessels. ORKA 700 was the first model to be produced in the Orka family of boats. This strong, fast cabin cruiser has excellent maritime characteristics. The ORKA 700 immediately impresses with its build quality and the functionality of the interior, which includes a foldable table that converts to a third bed, as well as a fully functioning galley, and head. A wide stern platform has a bathing ladder and fresh water shower. The long list of optional equipment will ensure a comfortable stay on board.


ORKA 740 OPEN (Basic, Diver and Cruiser)

Each of these models is designed to carry from 12 to 14 persons, and includes a large, independent helm station with plenty of storage space, and full standing head built in. They also feature a large open cockpit, and an extended stern platform.

The Basic version is a spacious open boat designed primarily for commercial purposes, and despite its name, comes with a long list of standard equipment which is available for all versions. This is an ideal shuttle boat for rapid transfers, of for diving excursions, as it is capable of carrying 12 divers with full gear.

ORKA 740 CABIN/ORKA 740 PILOT

The next models to be introduced are the Orka 740 Cabin and Orka 740 Pilot, which are designed primarily for family cruising and charter, although they can be used as a service or patrol boat. The Cabin version sleeps four and offers 2+2 berths below deck, a galley and a head. Despite sleeping four, there is enough cockpit space for 8 -10 persons for day cruising.

Stern drive engine options for the ORKA 700 range between 120 and 220 HP, and between 200 and 320 HP for the Orka 740 models. Every cove, fishing spot or remote island becomes easily accessible and, with ensured safety, makes your stay on board even more fulfilling and enjoyable.

Sas-Vektor has been one of the leading producers of sailing boats and motor yachts since 1987 and has a long tradition of constructing fiber-glass boats in Croatia. More than 500 boats have been manufactured over the last 25 years.

The first vessels produced by the company were 12-meter sailing boats, and soon after the production of our motor boat “Adria 1000” commenced. At the beginning it had a displacement hull and only one engine, but was soon replaced by a twin engined version.

ZB MARINE was established in 2005 by two enthusiastic sea-lovers with long seafaring experience who happen to be a naval architect and a marine engineer. The main business activities of the company are design, construction and repair of small crafts and boats. One of the first projects was the vessel Gropo 25. GROPO 25 is a multi-purpose fibreglass vessel that can easily be set-up for professional and sports fishing or for family-based cruises.It combines the same design and functionality of traditional Dalmatian boats with numerous innovative construction details which ensure safe and comfortable travelling with this modern, high-speed vessel. During 15 years of its existence Barracuda boats Ltd. has gained an enviable reputation as a leading builder of inflatable boats with plastic hulls. The company’s own design, development and technical input has led to a new breed of quality inflatable boat BARRACUDA 470 which includes numerous innovations and can compete favourably with similar vessels produced by Croatian and international manufacturers. In 2009 the new vessel, Barracuda 650 cabin was launched.

Barracuda 650 cabin is a 6.5 meter inflatable boat with plastic hull. The vessel whose original width is 3.20 meters (2.49 meters when deflated) can be easily mounted on a trailer and towed to any destination. It is fitted with well equipped kitchen with refrigerator and toilet/shower compartment. The spacious main cabin and saloon can easily accommodate up to 10 passengers. The shipbuilding workshop of Brodoplast d.o.o. was established in 1990 and is located in marina Špinut in Split.

During the first several years in the shipbuilding business our mission was to become the leading company in modification and remodelling of used boats, either to give customers’ boats a new appearance, improve durability or sailing characteristics or merely to expand the boats’ usable areas.

The casting of boat’s fibreglass components is the basic process of our remodelling activities, together with other structural boat refinishing processes, performed in our workshop. After detailed consultations with the owner the final remodelling project is agreed upon and usually includes fibreglass mould building, laminate application as well as final sanding and painting.

The company was established in 2003 in Vela Luka on the island of Korčula. Even though Korčula is a major tourist destination we noticed that our resorts and beaches lack small crafts for popular water-related activities. The company, thus, initiated the production of several types of beach canoes and paddle boats. Our production range was soon enlarged by a new boat, GOF 1.2. It is manufactured in two versions (as a sailing boat or a working vessel) and can either be rowed or powered by outboard engine.

GOF 1.2 is reported to be very stable and virtually unsinkable. It is suitable for fishing with nets or bait but also for the exploration of the hidden coves and beaches along our beautiful Adriatic coast. It can also be used as an auxiliary boat on large yachts.

The boat is equipped with either a 6kW engine with built-in clutch or a 10kW engine and can travel at approximately 15 knots without becoming burdened.

Our single seater kayaks are suitable for recreation and leisure and possess extraordinary tracking and stability.

The quality of our vessels has been recognised by numerous customers. They were also awarded with the plaque at the Nautical Exhibition of Rijeka Fair.

The production programme, which also included the manufacture of polyester boats, had been completely taken over from former companies when the production plant was moved from Komiža to Split.The production range was quite diverse, but the production was mainly based on a polyester boat Pasara (4.59 m) and smaller boats up to 3m length.It is estimated that almost over 2000 Pasara boats (4.59m) and 500 boats up to 3 meters had been manufactured in the past few years.

After the successful production of so-called PVC boats using high-frequency welding, the production of Hypalon inflatable boats, assembled using the traditional gluing method, started in 1989. The company produced popular inflatable boats for its French partner, taking over the familiar name ANC (Adriatic Nautical Club). At the same time, Diokom also included all models of its top-rated inflatable boats on the domestic market.In the past several years the company manufactured approximately 1300 inflatable boats.

“Galeb i ja” is an officially approved boat manufacturer also producing a range of fibreglass products which are built in ships and machinery. The company is owned by Saša Tare and was founded in 2005.

Inspired by the shape and hull form of a very popular boat “Galeb 6,75”, the family made a prototype of the boat - Gull 745 - in 2006 based on many years of practical and theoretical experience, independent carrying out all manufacturing operations in building fibreglass boats, modelling, mould making and assembling all equipment. That year marked the start of the commercial production of the “Gull 745”.

In addition to having an extremely functional interior, the “Gull 745” is used for various purposes (sports activities, entertainment, fishing, family and nautical tourism or any combination of these), a hull form has been developed resulting in a semi-displacement performance, excellent maritime abilities and great stability. The option of engines of various power capacities enables cruising speeds of up to 10-20 knots.

Since our new company “GaVia” d.o.o. took over the rights from "Arausa-FCI"d.o.o. to mould and construct the “Novi Galeb 6,75” due to the poor condition of the mould we have not continued boat production but have redesigned a new superstructure and interior in fibreglass, modelled them and created moulds.


Significant changes have been made and the boat has been certified by the Croatian Register of Shipping as a new prototype named “Gull 715 / Novi Galeb 6,75”, a semi-displacement boat for sport and entertainment, personal and business purposes.

The shipbuilder is "GaVia" d.o.o. and the boat is produced by "Galeb i Ja"

We are sure that Galeb's new design and validated reputation as a boat with excellent maritime features and excellent stability will enable it to maintain its status as the most popular product within its category.

The shipbuilding workshop Rajko Marušić Brist was founded in 1966 as a handicraft workshop for the building, reconstruction and repair of boats and vessels. The founder is the ship-builder Rajko Marušić and in that time only wooden boats were made. In 1968 he started the production of fibreglass boats “PASARA 435” and “PASARA 570”. Until 1971, the workshop produced both wooden and fibreglass boats and from 1971 it started producing only fibreglass boats. Even though they were made of completely different materials, the fibreglass boats retained the traditional classic form and stability of wooden boats. Since then we have been widening the range of boat types so that now our production programme includes 8 different types: byboat 250, river boat, pasara 440, pasara 470, pasara 580, marušić 21, pilotina 750 and pilotina 950.

Our boats “PASARA 580” and “PASARA 470”, whose production rights were sold to the former factory “Jugoplastika” from Split, must be singled out among our products since they were the most sought-after models on the market at that time. In 1990 the handicraft workshop was transformed into a limited liability company, MARUŠIĆ d.o.o., registered for the building, reconstruction and repair of boats and vessels. We were the first private company which started the production of fibreglass boats in Croatia. Since the start of production we have obtained all the necessary permits and certificates (both for production facilities and final products) issued by the Croatian Register of Shipping in Split.

M.I. Nautika Ltd., situated in Žrnovica in the vicinity of Split, launched the manufacture of fiber-glass vessels at the end of 2005.

CLASSIC 540 OPEN

Despite its name, Classic 540 is by no means a traditional vessel. However, the number, incorporated in its name, does suggest its length in centimetres. In addition, the dimensions indicate its sides to be quite high. The hull is available in grey whereas the cockpit comes in the light shade of ivory. The outer weld of the hull and cockpit is 20 centimetres below the gunwale and is covered with black rubber, which protects the vessel from small scratches at berth. It is powered by the outboard Honda engine of 135 hp.

CLASSIC 540 WEEKENDER

M.I. Nautika has, for the first time, introduced its new speedboat Classic 540 Weekender at the 2nd Fair of Croatian Small Boat Manufacturers, held in 2010 in Podstrana, where it immediately caught a very close attention of the public. In addition, this speedboat is momentarily the largest vessel, manufactured by this newly established company. This open speedboat is currently available in two types - Classic and Weekender. Classic is a traditional fisherman boat with a smaller central console and semi circular bench in the bow. Weekender, however, is manufactured as a Sun Deck, a speedboat model, which has recently significantly increased in popularity.


ELENA 400

This small open fisherman boat, a typical vessel in its class, is equipped with a centrally positioned console, situated closer to stern, and is characterised by sharply cut hull lines. A single seat in front of the narrow console reflects the application of new design trends. In order to provide more space at side passageways, the very console is located in the boat centre. Skipper bench has been moved to the very stern whereas the boat handles have been manufactured in stainless steel, stretching from bow to stern. Despite being only 4 meters long, its cockpit is equipped with five storage areas. Bow, stern and console storages are provided with a cover whereas side storage areas remain open.

GOF 410

Gof 410 is manufactured as a traditional Adriatic vessel pasara (a model of a half-decked boat) with rounded sides and 18-centimeter-long keel which stretches over the full boat length. The bow storage area, so typical for this model, is equipped with block-a-port and is slightly longer than Mila 300 model and provides sufficient space. Unlike the central benches, which can be removed, the stern bench is fixed and slightly longer with both boat sides containing mounts for benches. If more cockpit space is required, both side benches may be put away in the flooring storage area. Gof 410 is registered for up to 4 persons.

The shipyard GREBEN was established in 1948 as a legal successor to a formerly private shipbuilding workshop. It was registered for the building and repair of wooden boats but shortly after its establishment the company started building wooden fishing boats up to 30m length.

In 1950 the company commenced the production of fast rescue boats made of aluminium alloy and life-saving equipment. In 1960 fibreglass boats as well as lifeboat winches were included in the company’s production programme.

In the 1970’s the company grew into one of the leading manufacturers of larger fibreglass vessels such as patrol boats, fishing boats up to 50m, passenger ships, fast rescue boats and sailing boats.

The shipyard not only widened its production programme with new types of vessels, it also enlarged and improved its production capacities: workshops, building berths, equipment workshops, etc.


Today MONTMONTAZA-GREBEN d.o.o. employs 130 workers and boasts a production programme covering:

- lifeboats and life saving equipment,- military and police vessels,- fishing boats and passenger ships,- motor yachts, sailing and leisure boats - repair and reconstruction services for all types of smaller vessels.

“Maestral” is a semi-displacement boat whose lines and shape resemble those of the Pasara sailing boat. It is designed for recreation and leisure and smaller models are suitable for sports fishing as well as for boat rentals. The boat is produced in various lengths: 4.5m, 5m, 6m and 7m. Primarily designed for coastal and open sea sailing in the Mediterranean it has also proved to be very stable in rough seas. Due to its heavy and robust frame which differentiates it from other similar boats on the market, it became very popular among customers who recognised its quality and practical use, guaranteed by a 50-year tradition in production and repair of military and police boats, lifeboats and fast rescue boats.

The company’s primary goal is to design a product that would, through its quality, be competitive with similar products on the market. Raguž marine d.o.o. is a family company with 30 years of experience and love of nautical activities. Shipbuilding activities have expanded into boat and marine engine servicing, the transport of boats, dry storage and waterway passenger transport.

Due to our increased workload and intense interest in our products from abroad we have started constructing a 3 level 6,000 m2 large nautical centre. It is one of the largest nautical centres in this part of Europe that unite all activities, that is, development and production centre, boat and nautical equipment shop, transport centre, dry storage, charter of our own boats, as well as a sports-educational centre.

The current facility is 90 boats a year including at least one new model. There are 15 employees currently employed. A 24-hour mobile service covering the entire Adriatic will start operating next year and an additional 10 employees will be employed. Raguž marine d.o.o. is planning to attend local nautical fairs, as well as aiming at European market.


Regarding production, we enable constant monitoring of boat construction process as well all production steps. Top quality shipbuilding materials are used in the production process, such as ORCA rubber purchased directly from the factory in France.

The end result is very recognisable Croatian product known by the name RAGUSA.

The team of designers supports the company in the area of project analysis such as hydromechanics, construction and ships systems as well as in the area of shipbuilding methodology, so that all vessels produced by the company have excellent performance and design. At the same time the company’s teams are involved in researching and developing new types of vessels (10-12 meters) to meet new trends in the shipping trade and the development of facilities for sea and seabed exploitation.

Reful 30 Elegance is a semi-displacement cabin boat of superior design and features. It is used for longer family trips, as well as a patrol boat. It is registered for 10 persons and has a total loading capacity of up to 1300 kg. The boat hull is 8.3 m, length L.O.A 9.20 meters and a beam of 2.70 meters which allows full comfort to all those on board. The boat is equipped with a 4-berths cabin, separate toilette, kitchen saloon, seating area with table, as well as a spacious padded area seating three in boat's cockpit. The cabin consists of 3 parts: saloon equipped with a small kitchen and seating area that may be turned into an additional berth, the skipper's control desk in front of which you can find a state-of-the-art instrumentation and command system, a cabin located in bow with 2+1 berths and separate toilette with sink and electric toilette. The lower hull has longitudinal and transverse frames of polyester omega which give the vessel exceptional strength without adding additional weight. The boat is equipped with engines in excess of 185 kW enabling speeds of over 30 knots. However, the maximum speed depends on the strength and type of engines used (max power 365 kW - speed 45 knots). Optimal engine power is 220 kW achieving a speed of 38 knots. and there are two drainage siphons to deal with fresh or sea water ingress. The contours the cockpit are very high ensuring additional safety for passengers whilst sailing in rough weather. The entire vessel has many drawers and storage space required for storing a variety of equipment.

The deck and cockpit are spacious and additionally reinforced with polyester omega profiles preventing any deformation and twisting when walking on deck. Immediately aft of the bow, there is a large chain locker wide enough for a windlass, anchor winch and ropes.

RIS MARINE Sportnautik from Zagreb is the successor of Maestral from Gradačac; one of the oldest and most renowned manufactured of inflatable boats in Croatia and in South-eastern Europe established 5o years ago. • Sports boats are somewhat larger than dinghies and are manufactured in three versions: Leader 9.2, Leader 10.2 and Leader 11.2. The boats have non-slip plasticised plywood floors, v-shaped keels and clad transoms. They are easily assembled and very stable in sailing.

• Rigid-inflatable boats (RIBs) with fibreglass bottom are also manufactured in three versions: Leader 35 F, Leader 50 F and Leader 80F. They are easy to transport and very manageable and stable even during harshest weather conditions. They feature exceptional peak speeds and optimal fuel consumption rate.

• RIBs 99 are new types of rigid inflatable boats in our production range. Their main characteristics are high performance, high speeds with low power engine and additional equipment upon customers’ requests.

• RIBs 850 are rigid-inflatable boats that can be equipped with inboard and outboard engines upon customers’ requests. The tubes are made of Hypalon Neoprene blend weighing 1760 g/m. The fibreglass construction allows higher speeds n all maritime conditions. The largest allowed load is 5.133 tons. The vessel can accommodate 32 passengers, according to ISO 6185-3. Standard. With 12 passengers aboard and the complete equipment the vessel can travel at 42 knots. The maximal speed of the vessel is 60 knots.

• Life-saving boats F 1 and F 2 are easily and quickly assembled because all components are attached to boat frame. They are very stable and can be safely used at open sea. . The

chambers are set considerably high but not too wide and the boat can be easily inflated.

• Rafting boats with v-shaped keel and double-air floor are manufactured in different lengths (3.5, 4, 4.5 and 5.20 meters) and chamber diameter of 50 cm.

• Banana boats are inflatable, unpowered boats designed for five or more adults.

SYKORA NAUTIKA - obrt

Sykora nautika trade boasts long tradition in the nautical industry. It is specialised in the manufacture of vessels from glass-fiber reinforced polyester. Its most prominent vessels are ARTA MALA, pasara (a type of half-decked boat) and ARTA VELA, pasara with a cabin.

ARTA VELA is a vessel with a semi-displacement hull, characterised by rounded and well-proportioned lines. Despite being only 5 meters long, this boat is convenient not only for daily excursions and fishing, but also for longer journeys, ensuring a comfortable space area for every passenger, no matter where accommodated. Benches with storage areas are located in the cockpit, providing enough space for petrol supplies, anchors, ropes and similar equipment. Polyester made flooring is rough enough to prevent slipping under wet feet whereas small channels and oval niches facilitate water accumulation. Steering wheel and accelerator commands are placed on the right cabin side, as recommended for boats of this type. The cabin includes two classically V-shaped beds as standardised equipment, which can accommodate up to three persons when required. However, pillows are offered as additional equipment. The inner walls are protected with white top coat. Arta Vala is available with or without additional equipment.

ARTA MALA is a 5-meter-long half-decked boat. It is traditionally shaped with rounded and well-proportioned lines and is characterised by stability, spacious cockpit, large storage area (on both sides, in the stern and under flooring) and quality manufacture. Kuster 19 is a semi-displacement boat with inboard diesel engine with considerable sailing freedom, intended for sport and professional fishing, sport and tourism, and is produced in four variants: open, semi-cabin and cabin boat as well as the work boat (lamplight fishing boat).

It is made from composite materials with a hull in blue or Bordeaux red and deck in ivory. The standard variant has a YANMAR 125 hp marine engine giving a maximum speed of 23 knots. With the optional 160 hp engine the speed is increased to 27 knots. The total weight of the boat, including equipment, is 2500 kg. VEN MARINA was established in 1980 and registered for the production of polyester boats and other polyester items.

Production is based on the small shipbuilding programme which includes vessels up to 12m in length. The company’s production process consists of comprehensive technological procedures starting with the implementation of project documentation, the making of moulds and models, to the manufacture of the final product. From our diverse range of boats we must single out our boat VEN 470 which won the Golden Sail Award at the Nautica Fair in Rijeka in 2000 as well as our other boat from the VEN series VEN 630, which won the Golden Boat diploma for its design and project in 2001.

The company has manufactured over 1,000 vessels in the past several years with an annual boat production of 40 vessels although there are realistic possibilities for the production of 100 vessels per year.

Zanzini d.o.o. is the successor of the “Zanatski kombinat “(The Craftsmen’s Conglomerate) from Vodice established in 1945. The conglomerate was established by the Bator and Ivas brothers in cooperation with other craftsmen from Vodice, led by the cooper Joso Zanze who became the first manager of the conglomerate. During its long history, the company underwent several mergers and terminations; some of the craft were abandoned and new introduced. In the 1960’s the group of craftsmen decided to change their business activities to a motor-car repair shop and the company changed its name to “Autoremont” with about 280-300 employees. By the end of the 1980’ the coopers’ and the cartwrights’ workshops had been replaced by fibreglass production facilities. At first, the company focused on car parts production but later started to purchase the boat models LASTA, GALEB 6.75 and PILOTINA 8.80 from sea and boat lovers.

The company took over the boat models Lasta 4,88 K and Galeb SUPER 6,75 in two variants (R-type for fishing and T-type for tourism) as well as the model Pilotina 8,80 which was manufactured in the company under the name of ARAUSA 29, also in two variants (R-type for fishing and T-type for tourism). In the past two years the company has operated independently and has proved itself, after 25 years of work, on the market with our new boat ARAUSA 25 which was awarded the “Golden Sail” at the NAUTICA Fair 2006 in Rijeka. The ARAUSA 25 is produced in three variants as is customary with all other round stern boats: pasara boat, tourist and fishing type boats. All our boats are equipped according to the requests and wishes of our customers.


Zanzini d.o.o. plans to redesign all boat models in cooperation with renowned Croatian and Slovenian design companies and prominent marine architects but, at the same time, it will not forget its faithful traditional customers and the standard boat equipment which brought fame to all the predecessors of ZANZINI d.o.o. Elitism? Yes, but we also plan to redefine the traditional concept of elitism and make our luxury boats affordable to the middle class customers and their purchasing power. BRODOGRADILIŠTE I MARINA BETINA d.o.o. (Shipyard and Marina Betina, Ltd.) was founded in 1948 although shipbuilding had been a traditional occupation of the local people for centuries. The basic business activities of the shipyard are the building and repair of wooden ships as well as the maintenance and servicing of steel and polyester boats. The shipyard is equipped with a travelift having a lifting capacity of up to 260 KN and can accommodate ships up to 35m length for repair and maintenance.

The company currently employs 65 full-time workers. Apart from the shipbuilders specialised for wooden ships, the shipyard’s policy is to engage only fully trained and highly skilled locksmiths, welders, blacksmiths, fitters, electricians, painters and other craftsmen.The building of wooden ships is a traditional activity on the island of Murter and most of the shipbuilding is concentrated in Betina where the shipyard is situated. Shipbuilding has a tradition of almost 250 years, through various forms of organised manufacture.Shipbuilding in Betina is characterised by excellent workmanship, robust boat construction and the choice of material (Slavonian oak). Nevertheless, other types of wood, such as pine, teak, mahogany, etc., are used based on customer requests.

In addition to the specialised workshops, the shipyard also has several hangar units of various sizes and purposes (800, 300 and 200 m2 ) while the total usable area of the shipyard covers almost 25,000m2. All working areas are asphalted and equipped with electricity and water supply.


BETINSKA GAJETA, a half-decked one-masted fishing boat traditionally built in Betina, is primarily intended for family sailing and can accommodate eight persons. The boat is constructed and manufactured with the best possible quality according to traditional shipbuilding “plank-on-frame” technique. All hull elements as well as all shell plating are made of oak. After the completion of the boat the outer surfaces are partly charred by burners. The surfaces that must be painted are first protected by a primer and those that must be varnished are impregnated with teak oil. The exterior of the boat receives classic treatment; it is painted with a primer, an oil paint and, finally, it is given two coats of varnish whilst the underwater surface line must be protected with by an antifouling coating. The boat’s mast is 7 meters high with a lanteen yard of ca. 8m and 25m2 sail which enables the speed of 6.5 knots in a calm sea and with a clean hull. The boat is also equipped with two sculling oars.

A stable inboard engine (10 KW to 30 KW) can also be used. Power is transmitted through a marine gear and the propeller axis (25 mm stainless steel and solid bronze boat propeller). The propeller axis is fixed in the stainless steel stern tube fitted with rubber bearings. The propeller diameter and the wings elevation are defined according to the boat design and the engine characteristics which will enable maximum speed. The engine is mounted on a base which is a basic part of the hull construction, and on elastic bearings.

The excellent design and superb workmanship ensure the stability of the boat in all sailing conditions and it can be steered manually by the wooden helm directly manoeuvring the wooden tiller. The boat is also made in a cabin version which includes 3 berths, a small kitchen with a stove and refrigerator.

Mr. Frane Milina started his professional career as a shipbuilder in 1948 and became the owner of the shipyard LOGER in 1980. He and his two sons specialise in the design and building of traditional wooden boats and ships.

Over the past few decades the shipyard built many types of ships and boats of various sizes and purposes but, recently, almost all ships coming from the shipyard are built predominantly for recreational and leisure purposes (one-day trips or cruises lasting several days).


Almost all of LOGER’s ships and boats are made of famous high-quality Slavonian oak.

The future of the shipyard LOGER rests upon Mr. Milina’s sons who, with the help of their father, have mastered all practical technical knowledge and skills to complete the shipbuilding process from the project stage and the making of technical documentation to the handover of the finished vessel.

Even though the shipyard may not be spacious according to some standards, the ships are built using the current state-of-the-art technologies to the great satisfaction of customers who appreciate traditional forms and classic materials which give a warm and welcoming atmosphere to each individual environment.

We would like to single out several of the many exceptional sailing ships from the LOGER shipyard which are shown in the photographs:

- “Dubrovački galijun“ (Dubrovnik galleon) - a replica of a 16th century ship and the first one built in the past 500 years; length 30 m o.a., beam 7.5 m. It was delivered to the client in 2005 after only 23 months,

The owner of the company, Mr. Željko Lilić, inherited the family shipbuilding workshop from his father. His father, Josip, was well-known for his shipbuilding skills and exceptional workmanship, so his son Željko decided to continue with the family tradition of shipbuilding but also to expand the production programme to larger boats of up to 15m length.


Until recently mostly fishing boats were produced in the company’s shipbuilding workshop but also some other types of boats for various purposes were made on request.

All boats are made of high-quality materials, mostly oak, but customers may also select the wood they prefer.

The latest product of the company is a semi-displacement boat up to 5m length in two variants (with or without a cabin).

Bimex-prom d.o.o. was established in 1990 and until 2000 the company was engaged in repair and selling of the boats. From 2000 it started to produce the boats from its own moulds, mostly for the well known customers, according to their orders. The models of the boats have standardised certificates of Croatian Register of Ships. Bimex-prom is also well known for the superior handicraft shipbuilding. The production program includes the boats of speedboat hull type from 4 to 7 meters. Apart from the leisure boats the company produces special boats for ecologic protection of water, fire services, coast guards, port authorities, harbour masters offices and the police force. FISHING VESSEL

A 21,60 m long, 6,4 m wide Stern Trawler intended for open sea fishing. Powered by a 368 kW engine for a service speed of 10 knots. Under construction during 2000 - 2001, for a local owner.

OIL SPIL RECOVERY CRAFT “ECO 13”

A 13 m long specialised craft of aluminium alloy reaching the top speed of 28,5 knots is a sea pollution fighting / fire fighting/ sea surface cleaning vessel on order by Croatian Environmental Protection Ministry. Propulsion is provided by two 331 kW Volvo Penta diesel engines. Three units to be constructed during 2003 -2004.

HIGH SPEED PATROL BOAT

A 7 m long aluminium boat designed as inland waters Police patrol boat, but can easily be configured as a fire fighting / rescue boat / Coast Guard or Naval patrol unit. Powered by two Mercury outboard engines ( 2 x 75-125 HP ), is able to develop a top speed of 45 knots.

Brodogradilište Punat offers a full range of services to all types of working vessels and mega-yachts up to 50m length. In 2005 an aluminum newbuild “Golub 780” has been completed and the company plans to launch “BSR 33”, a fiberglass vessel for sport and leisure, designed in the Mediterranean boat style.

FAST ALUMINIUM PATROL BOAT (SAR-Search And Rescue)(YARDS: 501 - “Planac”, 502 - “Umag”)

The Fast boats primary task is surveillance at sea and search and rescue. It is built according to the regulations of the Croatian Register of Shipping (CRS) for boats for commercial purposes and according to Germanischer Lloyd (GL) rules. It is made of seawater resistant aluminium alloy (AlMg4,5Mn), longitudinally framed, of welded construction. Damage stability requirements are met.Two four-stroke diesel engines, turbocharged, electrically started, mechanically regulated RPM, maximal engine brake power 2 x 305 kW, driving 5-bladed propellers through reversible V-type gearboxes, enable a service speed of 26 knots.Propulsion plant is remotely controlled from a wheelhouse control console. The wheelhouse (with al- round visibility) and accommodation spaces are air-conditioned. Electrical power is provided by batteries (24V DC) and from a diesel generator (220V, 50Hz, 8kW). The boat is equipped with radio equipment (1 VHF/DSC, 1 VHF, 2 VHF portable, 1 AIS transponder and 1 NAVTEX). The navigation system consists of: radar, GPS, magnetic compass, echo sounder/speed log.Accommodation is provided for 2 crew members and 12 passengers/survivors. In addition, there are 2 single-berth cabins and 1 auxiliary berth. The open working deck area in the stern is equipped with portside davits. Maximum deck load is 3 t. Fuel tanks capacity enables a range of 400 nautical miles (NM), at 23 knots. Storage allows for 7 days of self-sufficiency.


This boat can also be used as an oil spill control boat or fire fighting boat, by adding specific equipment to the stern working deck.

The Search and Rescue Crafts’ primary task is to search for, rescue and retrieve survivors, as well as sea surveillance. The craft is capable of linking to all types of vessel in order to retrieve patients, the delivery of devices and equipment, and the embarkation of maritime authorities.

Service speed of 24 knots is achieved by a propulsion system consisting of two 4-stroke diesel engines, each having MCR 610 kW, reversible gearboxes, and fixed-pitch 5-bladed propellers.Control consoles are in the wheelhouse and on the flying bridge.Electric resources are: 24V DC batteries and 220V, 50Hz diesel generator.Communication and navigation systems includes: VHF radiotelephone, radar, GPS, autopilot, compass, echosounder and speed/log.Accommodation is provided for 4 crew and 10 survivors with resuscitation equipment sets. Fuel tank capacities enable 300 NM range at 20 knots. Provision storage ensures self-sufficiency for 7 days. The fibreglass boat production company Kosanović is owned by Mr. Veljko Kosanović who has been shipbuilding business since 1969. Since then he has built some 3,000 boats of various sizes and shapes. During our working experience, we have employed several hundred employees. There are currently eleven permanent employees. Raw production material is mostly purchased from foreign producers. Ships and boats are mostly for business (fishing, passenger and diver transport, island connection) with one line being dedicated to pleasure and sports. Since the market demands constant improvement, we always meet these demands. There are several different boats and vessels in our production line from 5 to 20 meters in length, including displacement boats, sailboats, motor boats, speed boats and catamarans. Donat Boats d.o.o. (Ltd.) was founded in 1987 having Tankerkomerc Holdings as its majority shareholder. The main strength of our shipyard are our employees - twenty four young experts of various backgrounds, with an average age of 34, willing to progress and seeking professional development.

The company Marservis d.o.o. was established in 1995 and its headquarters is located in Kaštelir. Founder and CEO of the company is Luciano Beg. The main activity of the company has been the provision of marina services, boat servicing and maintenance. The provision of these services has continued until the present day through PJ Servis located within Luka Novigrad. In 2002 a one year concept for the production of polyester boats came into being with an initial simple boat model Adria 501, followed by company's own fisherman model named Picaro 20.

The hipyard MONTMONTAZA-GREBEN Ltd. is located on the island of Korcula in Croatia, on the Adriatic Sea. The total plant area covers 50.000 m2, 25.000 m2 of which is in enclosed premises with all the necessary equipment. MONTMONTAZA-GREBEN Ltd today employs 130 employees, and has its own design - technological offices and laboratories with over 80% of all the products manufactured being produced in-house.

In our facilities we have produced a variety of vessels including those made of wood, metal, aluminium alloy and GRP. Lifesaving equipment and other GRP vessels are produced in a controlled environment under the supervision of all Classification Societies (Lloyd Register, Bureau Veritas, NMD, RINA, DNV, RMRS.)

From the begining of a project, from purchasing raw and other materials, during manufacturing, prototype testing and pre-delivery trials, as well as on-board testing, the representative of Classification Society is present as the supervising body. Once all tests have been met, the Supervisory body issues the Certificate.The shipyard Montmontaza Greben has produced fishing vessels up to 50m, small sports vessels up to 7m, rescue and fast rescue boats made of aluminum alloy and GRP, fast patrol boats up to 24m, landing craft, minehunter and other military and police boats. Cranes, davits and winches for lifesaving programmes are produced in our metal construction facilities.The shipyard GREBEN has a good reputation and presents one of the leading manufacturers of lifesaving equipment in Europe ( davits, winches, lifeboats.) It exports over 70% of total production to various countries throughout Europe, Africa and Asia.

ODISEJ trade has been in business since 1982 producing and servicing boats in steel and fiber-glass.

Steel work are performed in a 10,000 m2 open area whilst fiber-glass operations are developed in two halls of 250 m2 and 90 m2.

10 skilled employees enable the company to produce boats to customer design up to 10t in weight.

A 34 meter long floating dock with 300t loading capacity is soon to start operating and will enable docking of ships up to 16 meter width.

Goran Nuić acquired shipbuilding skills from an early age, working alongside his father Ivan in the company ODISEJ. In 2003, he decided to start his own company for the production of steel and fiber-glass boats.
