FESTIVAL TO CELEBRATE 23 YEARSNewcomers to the Fishers area might ask, “What is the Fishers
Freedom Festival?” But those of you who have attended might agree that it isas close to Uncle Sam and homemade apple pie as you can get.
The Fishers Freedom Festival offers multiple activities, events and food for allages. Held at the Roy G. Holland Memorial Park (1 Park Drive) just off HollandDrive & Ellipse Parkway in Fishers, this free event offers fine arts & crafts, food & business vendors, live music, 5K Event, Children’s Tent, parades,Street Dance, fireworks and much more will entertain over 45,000 attendeesfrom all over the U.S. each year.
The Festival occurs annually on the last Saturday and Sunday in June. It kicksoff on Saturday morning with the 5K Event. The public may park at HollandPark for $2.00 per vehicle. The Festival is financially supported 100% by fund-raising events, sponsorships, booth space rentals, grants and contributions from areabusinesses and residents. The Festival is a 501C3 tax deductible, volunteerorganization and is independent from the Town of Fishers and the FishersChamber of Commerce. A budget of $296,800 was established for the 23rdannual event. The Fishers Town Council is a strong supporter of the Festivaland provides some funding to the Festival and the necessary police, fire, parks, and public works manpower necessary to keep our event safe andsuccessful.

COMCAST MAIN PARADE ON SUNDAY“Honoring Our Hometown Heroes”
As the Fishers Freedom Festival approaches its 23rd annual event,it gives us cause to reflect. Why have a parade andwhy would you want to be involved with it? The foun-dation for this event was built on recreatingcommunity pride, community involvement, a time toreconnect with family, friends and neighbors and most importantly a sense offun and enjoyment that so many of us remember from our early childhood. TheFestival Committee has incorporated a parade in our annual event becauseparades are fun, and it is something the community can become a part of andtake pride in. As with most successful events, they are only as successful asthe effort put into them. The size of our parade requires a number of individualsto carry it through successfully. That is why it is so important for residents toget involved. Let’s help create wonderful memories for you, your children andyour grandchildren to reflect on in the years to come. This year our parade will
showcase both high school marchingbands and guards, as well as many ofyour favorite organizations, churchgroups and Shrine units.

IN MEMORY OF WILLIAM D. KEHL JR
The William D. Kehl Jr. Volunteer of the Year award was established in loving memory of William D. Kehl Jr. who lived each day to the fullest and touched many lives during his short time here on earth. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his drive to be the best at everything, and his absolute dedication to the Fishers Freedom Festival and the Town of Fishers. This award champions the outstanding volunteer efforts of a Town of Fishers resident.
Much like it sounds, the Volunteer of the Year is how the Volunteers of Fishers organization will recognize people who have gone above and beyond to help or support others.
