The “ship” sold over 1,300 tickets, making it one of the largest charity galas in Rochester. Guests started the night feeling the excitement and energy of New York City, but before

they could get dessert, their international journey had whisked them to an Irish dance show, a breathtaking French can can production and a Brazilian performance spectacle by Samba Novo. To thank the community for another year of generous support, the Rochester General

Hospital Foundation transformed the 2011 Founders Society Gala into a one-stop exotic cruise.

In addition to thanking and inspiring a community known for extraordinary philanthropy, the foundation took time to recognize six of its most committed and selfless champions with this year’s Philanthropy Awards. Fellow guests showered the six honorees with pure and sincere

sentiments of gratitude. Their actions have not only helped build an institution that represents an irreplaceable cornerstone in the region’s healthcare structure, they have also set an

inspiring example for the rest of the community.

As Rochester General prepares for a public launch of the Transforming Care capital campaign in spring of 2012, the health system will need the community to follow the path so boldly

blazed by Gail, Ted, Hugh, George and Thelma, and Betsy. With generous, committed and caring friends like the 2011 Philanthropy Award honorees, the journey ahead promises to be a

truly “fantastic voyage.”
