2011 Men’s Soccer Notes Continued• Going Full Tilt Through three contests this season, six Tigers have played the full-ninety min-utes of action in each match: Andreas Guentner, Thomas Shannon, Cody McCoy, Jordan Johnson, J.J. Greer and Conor Hurley.

• Three’s Company Currently, there are two teams, Memphis and UCF, with perfect, 3-0, records atop the Conference USA standings. • Take Two! Memphis has won its last 20 games when scoring at least two goals, including this year’s wins at Belmont and versus Lipscomb. The streak stretches back to the 2007 season, when the Tigers played to a 3-3 tie against then-No. 14 Tulsa. Exclud-ing ties, the Tigers are unbeaten in a total of 27-straight games when tallying two goals. Memphis’ last loss when scoring at least two goals occurred in 2006 at the hands of Creighton (Nov. 7) by a score of 3-2.

• Tigers Face “Great” Challege When Memphis heads to Madison, Wisc., to face UIC and Wisconsin this week-end, it will face the ninth and 10th-ranked teams in the Great Lakes Region. UIC currently sits ninth in the latest NSCAA regional poll and Wisconsin is tied for tenth with Buffalo.

• The Tigers vs. The Flames Memphis and UIC have played to a series record of 1-1-1, with the last meet-ing (10-17-04) ending in a 1-1 draw. Liam Collins provided the game-winning goal for the Tigers in the 88th minute. Belmont was the first to strike in the 32nd minute when Edgardo Padilla scored on a penalty kick after Memphis’ Conor Hurley was awarded a yellow card in the box. Memphis would strike back in the 57th minute on a Lewis Ellis corner, served by Liam Collins. After Niko Olsak pout the Bruins up, 2-1, in the 60th minute, Mark Sherrod would tie the game when he beat the keeper after receiving a cross from Andreas Guentner. Collins knocked in the game-winner when he sent a free kick past the wall and goalkeeper inside the far post.
