Wiseman has been pleased with the team’s attitude and intensity.

2011 Men’s Preview Head Coach Shaun Wiseman expects a talented freshmen class to lead
the 2011 men’s tennis team.“Ifullyexpectthefreshmentobetheleadersonthecourt,”saidWiseman
“That is not to take away anything from Tom Lowe or Tyler Wilson. Tyler will
get some time in the lineup. He gives you everything he has on match day.
Tomismakingstridestobeateamleader.Ifhecankeepimprovinghewill
do well.” The youth movement is part of the program making strides, according to
Wiseman. “Ithinkitissafetosaythatthisisthebestmen’steamwehavehadhere,”
saidWiseman.“Wearemakinggreatstrides.Iexpectthisteamtomakea
jumpthisyear.Itismyhopethatwewillbecompetitiveagainstthebetter
teamsintheconference.Ithinkthisteamiscapableofit.Whethertheywill
be able to do it as freshmen, that will just have to play out over the course of
the season.” Wiseman expects two freshmen to play No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
“Jason Morgan will play No. 1 and Trevor Scott is No. 2,” said Wiseman.
“They are both hard workers. They are higher level tennis players than we’ve
had. They are great athletes and great tennis players. Scott Eibes and
Michael Skimbo are both freshmen that will contribute, too.”
With improved talent, the goal is still to qualify for spot in the post-season.
“Our goal is make the conference tournament,” said Wiseman. “We have
someguysthatwillneedtooverachievetogetthere.Wecantasteit.Ithink
we surprised some opponents in the fall. We are better than we were last
year.”
