students, plus theory classes, music games, a jazz band, keyboard lab and conducting and choral experience.

David Whitmire was a student in the first camp session 21 years ago. This summer he was an

instructor of music theory and ukulele at the camp. During the performing sea-son he plays trumpet and drums in the symphony. A game of music theory-themed “Jeopardy” was a fun learning tool at camp.

Whitmire’s sister, Johanna Fincher, who sings with the symphony, is the camp’s vocal teacher.
