From the Athletics Director

Dear Lion Nation,

Thank you for your commitment to Lion Athletics and for joining us in the pursuit of academic and athletic excellence. We continue to seek your involvement and support to advance the collegiate experience for Southeastern’s more than 330 student-athletes.

The Southeastern Athletics Department strives to create an environ-ment for its student-athletes that allows them to compete for cham-

pionships and earn their college degrees. To support this goal, the University must stay competitive within the Southland Conference. By supplying Southeastern athletic teams with state-of-the-art facilities, the resources to recruit the best and brightest prospects from across the nation, and scholarship support for our student-athletes, Southeastern will become one of the country’s premier regional institutions. This goal can only be at-tained with the active assistance of the Lion Athletics Association. It is my hope that you will demonstrate commitment to leadership, higher education and your community by becoming a member of the LAA today.

This brochure will show you the various ways you can become involved with the LAA and Southeastern Athletics. With your support, we will continue to make Southeastern Athletics a success. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ashley Winning, Director of Development for Athletics, at 985-549-5226 or [email protected]. Thank you for your support.

Go Lions, Bart Bellairs

From the LAA President

This is an exciting time to be involved in the Lion Athletics Association. If you are currently a member of the LAA, thank you for your support. If you have not yet joined, I encourage you to give strong consideration to becoming a member. Our membership has doubled in the last year, but the number needs to double again in 2012-2013.

The Lion Athletics Association is the backbone of Southeastern Athletics fundraising efforts. For the last three years, the athletics budget has been reduced due to higher education budget cuts, and the future

is uncertain. It is imperative, then, that the LAA increase its fundraising efforts for our programs to remain competitive in the Southland Conference. Your investment in the LAA is an investment not only in Southeastern Athletics, but in the future of our student-athletes.

Glen Bowman, Ph.D.
