STUDENT VOICE
We have big campaigns planned including a march organised by the National Union of Students (NUS)
THE FUND
Please remember to pay £10 to our Council Fund as this means we can make your time here a lot better
FRESHERS
Our big yearly party kicks off on the 27th of September. Buy your ticket before they sell out!
Communication. Transparency. Support. Events. Democracy. Your Student Council are ready to make a great improvement to your college experience.
We provide a mix of representation,
activities and services, and anyone
studying at Hills Road automatically
becomes a member. We are not for profit,
so any money we make through our
activities is ploughed straight back into
offering you more and better services.
We look after all of the societies on
campus. We are governed by our
Constitution, which outlines how we
operate and what we do. The Council is
managed by a collective of eleven officers
who work together with form
representatives on a rolling basis.
To find out more about what we have
been doing you can read the Our Vision
document (tinyurl.com/hrsfcvision). This
will give you a flavour of what we’re all
about.

Where can you find us?
Our Office is found in The Hub. Come and say hi! We have been known to give out free toast and coffee now and again...
Who is on the council?
The Chair is Isaac Turner- he's responsible for overseeing the direction of the Council and running our meetings.
Our Vice Chair, Hester Cant, supports him in this.
Our Treasurer is Tom Zhang and you need to email him if you have any financial issues or quandaries.
Josh Eaton is the Secretary and plays an important role in the organisation and documentation of everything we do.
Our NUS Officer is Neelam Solanki, and she will be running some campaigns in the year ahead to defend you as a student. Contact her if you're passionate about standing up to cuts to education, and student rights.
Our Welfare Officer, Ada Humphrey, is the go-to person for all things welfare, equality and diversity. We have drop-
in sessions at the office.
We have four committees run by Events Officer Jack Summers, who oversees everything social and party-related, Head of Environment Committee Rach Ellis-Lipschitz, who is concerned with the environment in both the college and the world around us, the Head of Societies Committee Anna Newman, who is reforming the way societies operate at Hills Road, and our Charities Officer, Ella Halfpenny, who runs a large committee dedicated to raising funds for a whole range of causes.
Our Head of Communications is Andrew Watts, and his job is marketing everything we do to you. He runs the website and makes all our posters.
What is our plan of action?
We have a document called OUR VISION that lists all the policies we want to get through in the year ahead. It can be found on our website, www.myhrsfc.co.uk.
A collection of all our policies can be found at tinyurl.com/hrsfcvision

Democracy
We have two meetings every half term, one at the start with form representatives, and one at the end that everyone in the college is encouraged to attend (we call this the General Meeting). Dates for these will be emailed to your college account in advance.
So what now?
What can we do for you?
• We have iPod and phone chargers you can borrow free of charge from the office
• We will keep you periodically updated with stuff we've been doing in our regular email newsletter
• Please email us if you have an issue of any kind, it's what we're here for after all
• We will be organising a whole range of awesome events in the following year
• We will stand by our core three guiding principles of strong transparency, great events and consistent support
What can you do for us?
• Pay the joining-up fee of £10
for Year 12 and £5 for Year 13 at the start of the year
• Visit the office and tell us your problems and issues, or just have a cup of tea
• Get involved by attending our meetings and running as a Form Rep
• Email us about the possibility of joining the Charities committee
• Check our website www.myhrsfc.co.uk regularly as we update it every time we get something done
• When we're about to leave, you can also think about running for the Student Council during the Spring term
• Most of all, understand that we are here to help
