Fellow Beef Producers:
Welcome to the 17th annual Central Montana Gelbvieh Genetics Bull Sale! Our group of breeders has brought
together their best yearling bulls from a genetic base of more than 400 mother cows bred to 23 different A.I. and
herdsires. You must see this outstanding gathering of yearling bulls to truly appreciate the benefits our combined years
of breeding experience can offer you! We, as seedstock producers, and you, as bull buyers, are being hit with a lot of
technical and sometimes confusing information. It seems that buying bulls has become as difficult as buying any other
product in the modern world. To get the best bull for your money – you have to do your homework! Please do not feel
overwhelmed by this information – if you have questions, just ask any one of the breeders and we will do our best to
find your answers.
The Goettlich, Kalina, Pollari and Linhart bulls have been fed out at the Hould Feedlot in Malta and the Danell bulls
at the Danell Diamond Six Ranch outside of Lewistown. The bulls will be at these locations any time prior to March 15,
2012 at which time they will be moved to the Lewistown Livestock Auction. If you cannot attend or get a chance to
view the bulls prior to the sale, but have an interest in any of them, please talk with one of the breeders. Be assured
that your interest will be handled with the confidentiality you desire and that you are protected by our “sight unseen”
guarantee of satisfaction.
Be assured there IS a bull here for you, whether you are looking for A.I./herdsire prospects, cow bulls and/or heifer
bulls! Come early and meet the Goettlich, Kalina, Danell, Pollari and Linhart families and visit with them about their
personal programs and guarantees, and to study this power packed set of bulls. Check out the pedigrees and find that
Gelbvieh, Balancer or Angus bull that will work best in your herd. Contemplate the impact the bulls that you buy today
will have on your herd for years to come! Look to the Central Montana Gelbvieh Genetics Bull Sale for your seedstock
needs.
We welcome Linhart Angus as our guest consignor again this year and welcome back Alan Pollari of Sourdough
Gelbvieh. We invite each of you to join us at a pre-sale gathering at Lewistown Livestock (weather permitting) on
Friday, March 16 starting at 5 pm. This is great time to analyze the bulls and talk with the breeders. See you sale day!!

First breedinG season Guarantee
Mortality insuranCe (death loss is the buyer’s risk)
If any bull, valued at $2000 or more, is disabled (confirmed by a veterinarian) during the first breeding season, it will be guaranteed according to the following schedule: Purchase price - $2000 to $2950 – covered at 50% less 1/2 salvage value Purchase price - $3000 to $3950 – covered at 60% less 1/2 salvage value Purchase price - $4000 or more – covered at 70% less 1/2 salvage value Ex. – loss of $2000 bull would give you $1000 credit, less 1/2 salvage loss of $5000 bull would give you $3500 credit, less 1/2 salvage

Breeding season is defined as a 60 day period following the first turnout of bulls. The guarantee will be offered as a credit by the breeder on one bull in a future Central Montana Genetics Bulls Sale or toward a replacement bull if that breeder has one available. (This will apply only to bulls offered by the same breeder that you purchased the original bull from.) Should the bull you purchase cost more that your credit, you pay the difference. If the cost is less, no further credit is due.
The breeder agrees to pay 1/2 the insurance premium at time of purchase. Insurance will be available on sale day at the rate of 6.5% of the purchase price for 1 year. (Your cost would be 3.25% of purchase price.)

Central Montana Gelbvieh Genetics 2 Keeping Your Program on Target
Danell Diamond Six Gelbvieh
Welcome to our 17th annual bull sale! As the majority of you already know, we partner
with a great group of breeders to insure that you are presented with a chance to bid on the
perfect bulls for your program.
At Danell Diamond Six Ranch, we feel that it is our job to supply you, whether purebred or
commercial cowmen, with the genetics that will lead your herd in the right direction. Our
breeding program is closely connected to information we receive from the beef industry
– the feeders and packers. The emphasis is on Grade (choice, select, etc.) and Tenderness
with a higher than average Carcass Weight and a calm Disposition. You will see Igenity
testing results on our bulls – scores for Tenderness ranging from 10 (best) to 1 (worst). We
ultrasound, our heifers as well as our bulls, to find out if we are going in the right direction
to get you a choice of Herdsires that can join your cows in producing high quality calves.
We are getting you there with our selection of bulls in this offering. Call us; talk with us
about your next bull and our dedication to the industry. Buy with confidence and “Expect
a Lot of Bull!”
Don, Omie, Chase, and Teale Rose Danell
“I get into discussions all the time with breeders, asking if tenderness or carcass merit pay them for their
efforts. My answer - you will never get docked for it! Also, if you shop wisely for your bulls, you will not have
to pay any extra for them and you can increase the percentage of your calves that grade Choice. Get that up to
70% and you will find the buyers looking for your calves and willing to pay a higher premium. You just have
to be aware and do your homework. This information is available for all breeds, whether Gelbvieh, Angus,
Simmental, or any other, and it is important because each breed has those bulls that score well and those that
don’t. We are focused on your future, providing you with the information to put your program on target.”

ET calves do not get ratios for BW, WW, or YW, because the influence of the Recipient Mama could skew the numbers in a way that would be unrelated to the bull’s genetics. If Tut’s perfor-mance were compared to his contemporaries, he would get a 97 BWR and a 100 WWR. Tut is a larger framed bull that is deep, long, and leading our pen at present time for ADG. This Encore son is ready to go to work adding pounds to your calves, whether commercial or purebred.

Profit is thick and long with a good disposition and a flawless EPD package - from calving ease, to growth, to carcass. He is out of a great 7 y/o dam with an 8/7 udder and a great track record. She has a 96 average BW Ratio, 105 average WW Ratio, and 100 average YW Ratio on her 4 calves. Profit’s own data shows a 90 BW Ratio with a 107 WW Ratio, a cow bull that will put on his working clothes and bring you more pounds to the scale. Profit will increase your profit!

What a bull! Our daughter, Teale, offers this bull and (in spite of his name) Chico is far from ‘loco’ – he has one of the best dispositions here. He has eye appeal, a tight sheath, thickness, a wide base, great carcass traits, milk, an 830 pound WW, and another flawless EPD package. His dam is a 5 y/o and has just given us her 4th calf, an 86 pound 2012 “The

Wow! Playa has a 10 for Tenderness and a .26 Marbling EPD, and a good disposition, and he is thick, wide topped, and deep ribbed on a moderate frame - very eye appealing. His 6 y/o dam still has a perfect 9/9 udder and her 3 previous calves averaged 6.00 IMF (126 average ratio) with a 105 average Ribeye Ratio. She has earned a place in our donor program.

Blackjack is a full brother to the dam of Lot 15. He is a larger framed cow bull with an excellent EPD profile from beginning to end. Because he is an ET, raised by a ‘recip’ mama, there is no ratio for BW, WW, or YW. Compared against his contemporaries, he would ratio a 95 for BW and right at 100 for WW.

Nexus was sired by a quality Angus bull that can bring a lot to the Gelbvieh breed - carcass, disposition, calving ease, growth, milk, and scrotal. There are not enough ’Ten X’ calves registered in the Gelbvieh breed yet to give Nexus any carcass EPDs - but when there are, this bull’s EPDs will be some of the best in the breed! 10 X is #4 in the Angus breed for B dollars (91.00),
and has EPDs of 99 for Marbling, 52 for Ribeye, and 30 for Carcass Weight. Nexus is long and thick, wide topped, and gentle – he will certainly catch your eye. He comes from a 4 y/o dam with a 9/9 udder and a 114 average WW Ratio on two calves. Nexus will bring a lot of performance to any program he goes to work in - commercial or purebred.

You will have trouble finding fault in Obsidian! He has an excellent EPD package, a good disposition, on a larger frame, and an 84 pound birthweight with a 107 WW Ratio. His sire, JOB DANELL Turnabout 20W, has really done a job for us. As you can see from his offspring in this crop of bulls, 20W really puts style in his calves. Lot 15- JOB Danell Masters 60YMasters, born March 31st, is one of the youngest bulls in the offering. He has an 85 pound birthweight, and our best WW Ratio of 113 in his contemporary group. He has amazed us with his performance - you will have a hard time picking him out from the older bulls which were born an average of 40 days earlier. He puts it all together - long bodied and thick on a larger frame with another flawless EPD
package, from birth to growth to carcass. His numbers show calving ease and low birth weight – but, because of his size, I would recommend him as a cow bull rather than a heifer bull. His dam is a 6 y/o with an 8/9 udder and goes back to our donor dam, Gretel 411D. Masters will work and add pounds for the purebred or commercial herd.

Keeping Your Program on Target 9 Central Montana Gelbvieh Genetics
Goettlich Gelbvieh
Welcome to the 17th Annual Central Montana Gelbvieh Genetics Bull Sale. It
is once again a great honor to be involved with this great group of progressive
breeders.
Our bulls were once again fed at Hould’s Feedlot in Malta. Bruce & Linda and
their crew did a tremendous job developing these bulls. We really appreciate all
they do for us.
All of our bulls tested negative for BVD. The ultrasound testing was again done
by Sonja Gregory. All bulls will be fertility tested before the sale. All bulls were
tested for homozygous black and this year we Igenity DNA tested for carcass.
Our offering is small this year, but we wanted to only bring the best to the sale.
We cut hard at branding and again at preconditioning.
Please do not hesitate to call with any questions. Thank you for your interest and
continued support. We hope to see you on March 17th at Lewistown Livestock
Auction!

Keeping Your Program on Target 13 Central Montana Gelbvieh Genetics
Kalina Gelbvieh
It doesn’t seem possible that another year has gone by since the last bull sale, but here
we are again.
This year’s bulls are some of the best bulls we have ever raised. That is the nature of the
game, to always raise the bar for quality and disposition.
We lost some of our leases a year ago and the cows we have left are truly the best of the
best. These bulls are not registered this year but are still the same quality and breeding
people have come to expect from Kalina Gelbvieh cattle. We continue to cull heavily for
disposition, maternal and growth.
If these cattle can do well in our country, they will excel anywhere.
We truly enjoy visiting with breeders we have met through the years. This is one of the
highlights of our year since most of the time this is probably the only time we will see them
until the following year.
If you have any questions or we can help you in any way, please stop in or give us a call.
The bulls are again being fed at Hould Feedlot in Malta. They have and continue to do
an excellent job of growing these bulls out. Many thanks go to them for all the work they
have put in.Hopefully, we will see you at the sale, or if you cannot make it we can take orders over
the phone. We will carry our no see guarantee. If you buy the bull and don’t like him when
we deliver, we will take him back at no cost to you.
Wishing you a great calving season and lots of rain in the spring.

This is a bull that should be able to do it all. Starting with a 78 pound birthweight and ending with a 1291 yearling. Combining Exclusive and Phoenix this bull should be a maternal powerhouse, and also carry very good carcass traits. On top of this he is Homozygous Black and quite probably Homozygous polled. Homozygous Black and very likely Homozygous Polled, this bull is a powerhouse. We thought long and hard about keeping this bull, but we already have too much of the same breeding. A balancer bull from another son of In Focus and another Linhart Angus cow. This bull could quite possibly be Homozygous for both Black and Polled. The 92 W calves are very smooth made, and combining this with a Phoenix daughter you have a very outstanding combination. Another bull from our 92W Angus bull and this time from a Sampson daughter. Boththese bulls have shown excellent calving ease. They are not always the lightest calves, but we have had absolutely no problems calving from either one. This bull has shown excellent growth through-out and is very smooth made with the head and shoulders for calving ease.

These last three bulls are young enough that their Yearling ratios would not compute, but don’t let that stop you, this bull is truly a powerhouse. Combining Image Maker and Lead On on the Angus side and having CPR and Carolina Fortune on the Gelbvieh side, this bull is going to be very hard to beat as an all around bull. Make sure to look him up on sale day.

This is the youngest bull we have in the sale this year, but he has the back-ground to do great things. The227 cow is the last of the Magic females we have left, with an absolutely fantastic disposition, and does an excellent job of producing great caves. This cow is 10 years old and we cull very heavily. For her to still be here at 10 says a lot for her production. This combined with the Shaman bull, he should make an excellent cow bull for someone.

Gelbvieh - The Cash CowThe industry focus may shift from time to time, but the money to be made in the cattle business is still on the cow side. Make sure your cowherd is working as hard as you do.
• According to the Meat Animal Research Center, Gelbvieh is the only breed that reduced mature cow size in its germplasm study between 1973 and 2004.
• Crossbreeding with Gelbvieh results in cows that are 30% more productive over their lifetime due to increased fertility, weaning weights, and cow longevity. MARC data shows crossbred cows stay in the herd an average of 1.9 years longer, reducing replacement costs.
• In the most recent MARC evaluation, Gelbvieh-sired calves has the lowest birth weights of the four major continentals and tied for the top survivorabilty to wean-ing of all breeds.
Gelbvieh-influenced females-working hard for your bottom line.

Sourdough Gelbvieh
Hello all,Well, after a few years away from the cattle business, I decided to jump back in last
spring. I’ve had some life altering experiences in the last couple of years and kind of came
to a crossroads on what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. After some reflection, I
came to realize that what I enjoyed doing most was running Gelbvieh cattle. I came to last
year’s sale and was able to buy a Balancer bull and some real nice registered heifers from
the Goettlich Gelbvieh Ranch. Feeling that I hadn’t purchased enough heifers, I went to
the Kicking Horse Ranch annual production sale and was able to purchase some more nice
gentle heifers. OK, so now I was back in business and the great people involved with the
CMGG even invited me back into the sale. I was feeling about finer than frog’s hair but I
would have to wait another year to raise bulls for the sale and that was fine with me. Then
opportunity came knocking and it was Dave Kalina. I found out that Kalina Gelbvieh had
some pairs that he was willing to part with. I took the leap and now had some quality bull
calves to sell in this sale. I figured at this point that all I needed was some rain and boy
howdy did we get that. The cattle did great last summer and the bulls weaned off heavy
and took off from there. I really couldn’t be happier with the way they turned out.
I feel I need to take a moment and thank all the members and consigners of the CMGG
to allow me this opportunity to be involved with this unique group again. I really do
appreciate it. Also, thanks to Hould feedlot for taking care of our bulls and getting them
where they need to be for sale.
I am hoping that after perusing the bulls you will find a sire to fit your program and if
you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to call.
Thanks,Alan Pollari

GElBviEh EPDs DEFiNEDCalving Ease Direct (CE): an EPD that is expressed as a ratio, with a higher ratio representing
better (easier) calving ease. This value represents the direct influence a sire has on calving ease. Only first-calf heifer data is included.
Birth Weight (BW): predicts the difference, in pounds, for birth weight. Weaning Weight (WW): predicts the difference, in pounds, for weaning weight (adjusted to age of
dam and a standard 205 days of age). This is an indicator of growth from birth to weaning.Yearling Weight (YW): predicts the expected difference, in pounds, for yearling weight (adjusted to
standard 365 days of age). This is an indicator of growth from birth to yearling.Milk (MK): the genetic ability of a sire’s daughters to produce milk expressed in pounds of weaning
weight.Total Maternal (TM): a value that combines growth and milk information and a prediction of the
weaning weight performance of calves from a sire’s daughters. This value does not have an accompanying accuracy value.
Gestation length (Gl): this EPD is expressed in days and measures the days under or over normal gestation length a sire’s daughters can be expected to calve
Calving Ease Daughters (CED): an EPD expressed as a ratio for a sire’s daughters’ calving ease with a higher ratio being a more favorable calving ease. This value represents the
calving ease that a sire transmits to his daughters. Only first-calf daughters are considered in calculations the EPDs.
scrotal Circumference (sC): value is expressed in centimeters of adjusted yearling scrotal circumference.
stayability (sT): predicts the genetic difference, in terms of percent probability, that a bull’s daughters will stay productive within a herd to at least six years of age. Stayability EPD is one of the best measures currently available to compare a bull’s ability to produce females with reproductive longevity.
Carcass Weight (CW): expressed in pounds of carcass weight adjusted to a constant fat endpoint.Rib Eye Area (RE): expressed in square inches of rib eye muscle area adjusted to a constant fat enpoint.Marbling (MB): expressed in degrees of marbling score, a determinant of USDA Quality Grade. Value is
adjusted to a constant fat endpoint.Days to Finish (DtF): expressed in days to reach a constant fat endpoint, which is commonly used
in the feedlot to determine when an animal is finished with the appropriate amount of fat cover. When evaluating two potential sires with comparable EPDs for other traits, the sire with the lesser value for DtF will produce progeny that will finish sooner with potentially lower feed costs.
Feedlot Merit (FM): expressed in dollars per head, value passed to progeny. The Feedlot Merit EPD measures the dollar value associated with the expected gain and feedlot efficiency of progeny when fed in a “typical” feedlot arrangement.
Carcass value (Cv): expressed in dollar value per head, comparing progeny of one animal to another in dollar differences when progeny are sold on a grid. This value is a true economic comparison; it is not grid merit at a standard carcass weight as many breeds calculate. Projected carcass weight, penalties for “out” weight carcasses (too heavy or light), quality grade and yield grade premiums and discounts are all included in calculating this $EPD value.
ANGUs EPDs DEFiNED(ONLY THOSE SHOWN IN CATALOG ARE IN THIS EXPLANATION)
GROWTHBirth Weight EPD (BW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires.Weaning Weight EPD (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.Yearling Weight EPD (YW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.scrotal Circumference EPD (sC), expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires.
CARCAssCarcass Weight EPD (CW), expressed in pounds is a predictor of the differences in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.Marbling EPD (Marb), expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA marbling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.Ribeye Area EPD (RE), expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the difference in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.Fat Thickness EPD (Fat), expressed in inches, is a predictor of the differences in external fat thickness at the 12th rib (as measured between the 12th and 13th ribs) of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.
MATERNAlMaternal Milk EPD (Milk), is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf ’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability.
$vAlUE iNDEXEs$value indexes, are multi-trait selection indexes to assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions. $Values are reported in dollars per head, where a higher value is more favorable. The $Value is an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, on average, compared to progeny of other sires in the database if the sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment.Weaned Calf value ($W), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for preweaning merit. $W includes both revenue and cost adjustmentsassociated with differences in birth weight, weaning direct growth, maternal milk, and mature cow size.Feedlot value ($F), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning merit compared to progeny of other sires.Grid value ($G), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for carcass grid merit compared to progeny of other sires.Beef value ($B), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires.

Hello,
One can only be amazed at how fast 2011 came and went and how mild our
2012 weather has been. Certainly is a change from last year. This was an interesting year on all
fronts and the cattle business was no different. Record prices and low numbers certainly have
everyone looking toward the future with a lot of optimism. We are not any different and are very
excited about where our program is headed.
You will see a slight difference in our program. We decided to use SAV Final Answer heavily
to add some of his tremendous calving ease and maternal qualities. This means we will have an
above average number of calving ease bulls for sale this year, These sons are quite intriguing as
they are backed by some of our best cows. We did not get totally away from the the big, stout,
high performing “cow bulls” that we have been producing in the past. We will be offering a
few bulls by Ten X, SAV Net Worth and SAV Heritage that offer the strong growth and carcass
behind them. We will also have a nice set of sons from our own herd sire, a son of Bando 0699
and our strongest producing cow. These calves are all younger, March born bulls, but they hit the
feedlot strong and have proven their worth.
Special thanks to Bruce & Linda Hould of the Hould Feedlot in Malta. They are excellent to
work with and do a fantastic job caring for the bulls and growing them out to be their best.
Thanks again to a great group of Gebvieh breeders for allowing us to guest consign our bulls in
their sale.
We would really like to thank all of you for your interest and support of our breeding program
in the past and also in future years. We look forward to seeing and visiting with you at the sale.
Doug & Penny Mike, Mardi, Tanner & Kade
Tanner with Louie at 2011 NILE. This heifer stood third in a large march heifer calf class. She is sired by our herd sire, DL Bando 0699 7959. Two half brothers sell as Lots 59 & 61.

A very complete son of Ten X backed by a tremendous maternal cow family. In fact, his granddam was still producing calves (and good ones!) at age 17. This bull has the length, dimension of rib and muscle combined with the eye appeal to make everyone turn their head. His ultrasound data of a 13 inch ribeye and 5.96 IMF score shows that he has carcass merit in his blood.Dam’s Production - WR 2@108 IMF 4@106 REA 4@108

A high growth bull by the calving ease specialist, Final Answer. This bull is extremely smooth made making him a top candidate for heifers. His dam is a young cow purchased from Bairds that is really coming into her production. A cow that keeps excelling each year combined with the maternal traits of Final Answer should make this bull a female producer!Dam’s Production - WR 4@107 REA 3@104

A younger bull that is sired by our resident herd sire. This bull has had the “look” since birth. He is tremendously long bodied and thick topped, just like his sire. His dam is a young cow that is just finding her footing in the production world. A daughter of On Target, she has tre-mendous rib shape and capacity and is giving us calves with tremendous carcass potential.
