Prepare for your academic advising appointment. Follow the instructions on University Division’s website: ud.iub.edu/fs.php.

Make your travel arrangements. Visit the Travel & Parking section of our January New Student Orientation information at fye.indiana.edu for more travel details.

Make any necessary lodging reservations.

If you plan to live on campus in an IU residence hall for the spring 2012 semester, it is imperative that you initiate the contract process prior to your arrival for January New Student Orientation. Visit www.rps.indiana.edu to sign up for housing.

Pay overdue balances from any IU campus at least 24 hours before coming to campus for your program. Current fees may include ACP, parking fines, or other early program costs. Your IU billing accounts must be current in order to register for classes.

Getting to IU BloomingtonBloomington is located one hour south of Indianapolis. Additional directions and information about shuttle services from the Indianapolis International Airport are available at fye.indiana.edu. The street address for the Indiana Memorial Union is 900 E. Seventh Street, Bloomington, IN 47405.

Ongoing construction near campus and winter weather conditions may delay your arrival on campus. Please plan accordingly and allow a few extra minutes to arrive in time for check-in at the Indiana Memorial Union.

Parking InformationIf you are living on campus, we ask that you park in your residence center parking lot and walk to the Indiana Memorial Union to check into the program.

If you are not living on campus, there is limited visitor parking in lots adjacent to the Indiana Memorial Union and at the Jordan Avenue lot near the Office of Admissions. These are both pay lots.

The lot adjacent to the Indiana Memorial Union fills up quickly. Parking Operations will be enforcing all parking regulations. If space is not available in the IMU lot, please park in the Jordan Avenue lot and take the Orientation Shuttle to the Indiana Memorial Union. Parking is not allowed on the grass, curbs, or other unmarked areas. Cars may be ticketed and/or towed if not parked legally in a marked space.

The Orientation Shuttle will be available from 10:30 a.m.–1 p.m. and 6:30–8 p.m. to assist you in getting to and from your vehicle in the Jordan Avenue lot.

AlcoholEduAs part of our comprehensive alcohol prevention program, Indiana University requires all new students to complete AlcoholEdu for College—an online course. It utilizes science-based research to educate students about alcohol and its effects. Whether you choose to drink or not, AlcoholEdu for College will empower you to make well-informed decisions about alcohol.

AlcoholEdu for College is administered in two parts. You will be receiving an email to your @indiana.edu account with additional information and log-in instructions soon. Completion of this program is required and any delay may result in your inability to register for your next semester at IU.

Optional Biology ExamThis optional exam is offered during New Student Orientation to help you earn advanced placement or IU credit. You can take the biology exam prior to check-in on the first day of your program. Optional Online Chemistry Placement ExamThe online chemistry exam must be completed prior to New Student Orientation by students majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, and other sciences and by students who intend to fulfill prerequisites for medical school, dental school, and other health sciences programs.

New Student Orientation Overnight AccommodationsYou and your parents are responsible for securing your own overnight accommodations. There is no housing included as a part of January New Student Orientation. However, there are several lodging options available in Bloomington. The Bloomington/Monroe County Convention & Visitors Bureau has a complete listing of hotels. Visit www.visitbloomington.com, or call (800) 800-0037. In addition, the Indiana Memorial Union is in the heart of the IU campus and is home to a 189-room, full-service hotel. Call (800) 209-8145 for reservations.

Spring HousingHousing contracts begin on Wednesday, January 4. Residence Center desks will be open from 8 a.m. to midnight daily beginning Wednesday and continuing through the rest of the week. If you have any questions about your housing assignment for the spring semester, please contact Residential Programs and Services at (812) 855-5601 or by email at housing@indiana.edu. Food Service for Residence Halls: Students with housing contracts will be able to use their meal plans beginning on Wednesday, January 4, with their CampusAccess Card (student ID). There will be limited food service available from January 4 through Sunday, January 8. Complete details will be provided when you check in for your New Student Orientation program. Information about obtaining your CampusAccess Card will be included as well. Full dining service will be available in all residence centers beginning on Monday, January 9. Indiana Memorial UnionProgram Check-In

Getting to IU BloomingtonBloomington is located one hour south of Indianapolis. Additional directions and information about shuttle services from the Indianapolis International Airport are available at fye.indiana.edu. The street address for the Indiana Memorial Union is 900 E. Seventh Street, Bloomington, IN 47405.

Ongoing construction near campus and winter weather conditions may delay your arrival on campus. Please plan accordingly and allow a few extra minutes to arrive in time for check-in at the Indiana Memorial Union.

Parking InformationIf you are living on campus, we ask that you park in your residence center parking lot and walk to the Indiana Memorial Union to check into the program.

If you are not living on campus, there is limited visitor parking in lots adjacent to the Indiana Memorial Union and at the Jordan Avenue lot near the Office of Admissions. These are both pay lots.

The lot adjacent to the Indiana Memorial Union fills up quickly. Parking Operations will be enforcing all parking regulations. If space is not available in the IMU lot, please park in the Jordan Avenue lot and take the Orientation Shuttle to the Indiana Memorial Union. Parking is not allowed on the grass, curbs, or other unmarked areas. Cars may be ticketed and/or towed if not parked legally in a marked space.

The Orientation Shuttle will be available from 10:30 a.m.–1 p.m. and 6:30–8 p.m. to assist you in getting to and from your vehicle in the Jordan Avenue lot.

AlcoholEduAs part of our comprehensive alcohol prevention program, Indiana University requires all new students to complete AlcoholEdu for College—an online course. It utilizes science-based research to educate students about alcohol and its effects. Whether you choose to drink or not, AlcoholEdu for College will empower you to make well-informed decisions about alcohol.

AlcoholEdu for College is administered in two parts. You will be receiving an email to your @indiana.edu account with additional information and log-in instructions soon. Completion of this program is required and any delay may result in your inability to register for your next semester at IU.

Your completed Academic Planning Worksheet. A print copy was sent to your permanent address and an electronic copy is accessible by following the directions in the email that accompanied this Confirmation.

Your 10-digit university ID number. You can find your university ID number at the end of your admission email or letter.

A photo ID. Students will not receive their CampusAccess Cards (student ID) without photo identification.

If you are a transfer student, a copy of your transfer credit report. You can find this by going to onestart.iu.edu, logging in with your IU username and passphrase, clicking “Go to Student Center,” selecting “My Academics and Grades,” and then selecting “View Academic Credit Report.”

Make your travel arrangements. Visit the Travel & Parking section of our January New Student Orientation information at fye.indiana.edu for more travel details.

Make any necessary lodging reservations.

If you plan to live on campus in an IU residence hall for the spring 2012 semester, it is imperative that you initiate the contract process prior to your arrival for January New Student Orientation. Visit www.rps.indiana.edu to sign up for housing.
