By. Makayla Kind

On October 31, 2012,

Halloween wasn’t the only thing that

Huffman was celebrating. The Huff-

man High Youth and Government

conducted a mock presidential elec-

tion. The entire student body partici-

pated. “Why are we doing this and it

doesn’t count?” said a student. This

mock election was a good experience

to see what our school thought about

the election. Ultimately, it was a

huge success with the candidate

Barack Obama as the winner.

Almost a week later the

real election took place on November

6, 2012. We found out that the

school favored

Barack Obama as

president, but we

had to see what

America thought.

The winner would

be based on the

candidate’s stance

on different issues.

“Marriage is meant

only for a man and

women”, said Gov-

ernor Romney, seeing that President

Obama supports gay marriage.

On November 6th the

American people voted to have

President Barack Obama back in

the white house. Each candidate

needed 270 electoral votes to win.

President Obama exceeded that

number with 303

electoral votes

while Governor

Romney had 206

electoral votes.

This was all

before Florida

could be count-

ed. The Ameri-

can citizens have

spoken, and our

president--

Barack Obama--will serve another

term. The American people have

spoken—four more years.

The Iron Bowl: Who Ya Wit—War Eagle or Roll Tide?

By. Aaron Walker

Auburn and Alabama fans were

you ready for the Iron Bowl? I know you ran out to get your jerseys, hats, socks, shoes and more out.

This epic rivalry was a good game to stay home and

watch with my family. Who did you root for this

year--the back to back National Champions,

Alabama or the under dogs, Auburn?

The National Champions Alabama

had an intense defense and a sensational offense but

their major upset loss to Texas A&M showed that

they could be brought down with the right attitude

and team work. Alabama played hard this game and

a lot of people thought they would come out with the

win, but Auburn had a lot to prove. This game was important to both colleges. Before the game, fans

wondered, will the game be another upset to

Alabama or just another expected loss to Auburn?

Alabama has a big head on their shoulders, but will Auburn have the

intense defense and the same bag of tricks as they did two years ago to take them down?

Auburn has definitely

been in a slump this year without a

doubt. The team’s 2-7 record showed

that they were an easy team to beat. As

an Auburn fan, I kept thinking about

how Auburn has always been a team

with a bag of tricks. Though they have a

team of freshmen, they played their

hearts out. So on behalf of the angry

Auburn fans before this game, there was

still some hope for them. Both teams are

National Champions and wanted to win

this game. Bama fans saw this game as

another win for them. Auburn fans for

the most part didn’t even want to see the

game.

So, after the Thanksgiving turkey was merely bones, and Black Friday was a small memory, I tuned in to the

Auburn-Alabama game. This game promised to be full of surprises.

I got my food ready and was prepared to see a good game. To my

fellow Auburn fans, you will understand this. While I was dressed

head to toe in my Au\burn gear, I prayed for my team to win, to

keep their heads up, and to look forward to a better season next

year. However, at the end of the game, I was deeply upset and

disturbed. Alabama became the SEC Champs yet again.

Alabama Rolled Tide all over Auburn. They lead

the game from the beginning all the way through to the end.

Alabama triumphed over Auburn with a score of 0-49. Alabama

won again.

The American people have spoken, and our president-- Barack Obama--is here for another four years.

Special points of interest: Dec. 6—Beta Club and NHS will have piping hot coffee,

hot chocolate, and doughnuts outside of the Galley.

Please come and support our efforts.

Dec. 6—Birmingham All-City Christmas choir concert

at the Boutwell Auditorium. District Science Dept. head

meeting at Huffman High School from 2:30-4:30p.m.

Dec. 8—College Expo-Legion Field-9a.m.-12p.m.

Dec. 11—Christmas Concert is @ Huffman High

School at 7:00p.m.

Dec. 12—Chamber Choir performs @ Blue Cross Blue

Shield luncheon.

Dec. 14—Skills USA Habitat for Humanity; Remember

to meet in the library conference room on Wed. and

Thurs. (Officers only on Thurs.)

Dec. 15—Congratulations to Mrs. H. English . She

graduates from the University of West Alabama with an

Education Specialist degree in School Counseling.

Jan. 7—Shadow an executive Program 10th and 11th

grade students must submit an essay to apply. See

counselors for further info.

Jan. 18—2013 Student Cam Campaign has already

begun. Students are asked to create a 5-8 minute video

documentary on a topic related to the competition.

Entries must be submitted by Jan. 18. See your guid-

ance counselor for more info.

to get a headache because you did-

fashion can be very simple. Just

As you know, the last

newspaper fashion was brought to

you on the Red Carpet. This

month, we decided to take it to the

10. Do you have a different sets of

friends just so you can go around

and talk about them to your other

friends?

If you have answered yes to any of

these questions, then you are faker

than the dolls who sit on store shelves

waiting to be bought. Do your

“friends” a favor and befriend some-

one else- “Fake Barbie”.

Dear Vikki,

I am currently going through a complicated phase

where the boy I love is in a relationship with another girl. He

swears to me that he loves me, and I believe him. However, other

people seem to disagree with what I’m doing. Can you help me

by giving me advice on whether or not I should let other people’s

opinions affect what I do?

~Miserably in Love~

Dear Miserably in Love,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news and all, but he

does not love you. I don’t even think he likes you. If he is dating

someone else and talking to you on the side, he’s playing both of

you for the fool. Now, I have a question for you. If you know he

has a girlfriend and you are “talking” to him anyway, what does

that say about YOUR character and YOUR self-esteem? Don’t

go to the light! Come back! In the words of the lady on the movie

The Help, “You is smart, you is kind, and you is important.”

~Vikki~

Dear Vikki,

I like this guy and we’re talking, but he and his

best friend are now dating. She knew we were talking. What

should I do?

~Nice & Confused~

Dear Nice & Confused,

If he is talking to you

while he is with her, then what is he

gonna do when he is with you? The

same thing! He don’t like you! He

like what he can get out of you. To

answer your question, move on to the

next! In the words of Sweet Brown, “

Ain’t nobody got time for dat!”

~Vikki~

Dear Vikki,

I have a huge crush on this guy. Every

time I see him, I get butter flies, and I don’t know what to say. I

really want to tell him how I feel about him. Can you PLEASE

help me.

~Innocent Lover~

Dear Innocent Lover,

It depends on your personality. If you are shy, you may not want

to approach him. However, if you carry just a little bit of swag, I

would ask him to exchange numbers. It is 2012, guys have the

same feeling of rejection that girls have. They don’t want to be

rejected any more than you do. As for me, I would pop my collar,

hold my head up, and the next time I see him I would say,

“What’s up wit dem digits?”

~Vikki~

Dear Vikki,

I have a friend, and she is

in a relationship. However, she likes a

guy at her school and they flirt all the

time. What should I tell her?

~A Friend in Concern~

Dear A friend concerned,

Long distance relationships sometimes

don’t last especially when one of the

people is not a dedicated partner. It does not sound as if your

friend is dedicated to the long distance relationship. It sounds as

if she has an ugly case of the “grass is greener” syndrome. I

would suggest she get rid of Mr. Long Distance. (Let’s face it he

may be doing the same thing she is doing.) I would date someone

at my local school.

Also, she better watch out because this guy at her

new school could be listening to too much R. Kelly—I’m a

Flirt—and he may be playing with her emotions. Regardless, I

would definitely get rid of Mr. Long Distance. He might listen to

R. Kelly—Trapped in the Closet-too. Since I know I listen to

Jasmine Sullivan, I would let him go before I have to sing the Lil’

Kim, Lil’Wayne, and T.I. blues.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!

By Darius Horn

First it starts with just two

wheels, one left, one right.

So close are these two wheels, Both know how each other feels.

Then comes the new wheel on the right,

It wants to fit oh so tight. There are three wheels, within this

scene, One left, one right, one in between. On the right the new wheel screams

Pick me! Pick me! Ill mend the seams!

While the left just sits and does wait,

For what it knows, to be its fate, Its old friend,

So close and near, Will be gone, with its tears.

The wheel starts to fill with fear, To lose its old friend,

So close, so near. If you do understand,

Please lend a helping hand. This wheel is lonely,

Losing its friend, Such a bond,

Can easily bend. Yes, you know that's it about you, Yes, this story is truer than true. Now I have nothing else to do,

But hope I'm not a shoo.
