Adults are required to wear helmets and children are required to wear a helmet with a face mask. Additional protective equipment such as shin pads and elbow pads is recommended.

Each theater holds 130 seats, which allows moviegoers to enjoy recent Hollywood releases in an intimate setting. Entrance to the theater is located in the Sundae’s Too Ice Cream Shoppe. Registration Guidelines Registration will be accepted at the Edge Ice Arena at 735 E. Jefferson, and the pool deck at 545 John Street. The Edge Ice Arena, will be taking registration from 9 am to 9 pm. Residents of Bensenville will be required to show proof of residence at time of registration. Non residents are welcome to participate in all aquatic programs. Non residents are people who do not pay taxes to the Village of Bensenville. REGISTRATION DEADLINE Class registration deadline is 1 week before the start of class. The Edge Ice Arena is committed to giving our swim-mers the highest quality of instruction and taking pride in preparation for class. “Walk-Ins” jeopardize this structure and a $10.00 late fee will be applied. Registration will only be taken if there is class availability, and participants have manager approval. Refund/Missed Class Policy There will be no refunds or make-up lessons for missed classes. There is a $10 per class withdrawal fee for the can-cellation. If a participant must withdraw from classes be-cause of a medical reason, a full or partial refund or credit may be given if proper documentation is supplied at the time of cancellation. All refunds or credits may only be granted if approved by the Aquatics Supervisor.

The Water’s Edge Facility The Water’s Edge is located at the Edge Ice Arena 545 John Street. The aquatic facility offers diving boards in a 13-foot diving well, and an 8-lane, 25-yard pool ranging from 5 feet to 6 feet deep. To access this facility, patrons are asked to enter the main entrance of the building and enter the pool through the locker rooms located on the West Side of the building through the bathrooms. The pool cashier is con-veniently located on the pool deck for you. All patrons us-ing the facility MUST present and display a valid state is-sued ID, or Water’s Edge membership card.

The Water’s Edge will be closed the following dates: May 28, 2012 Memorial Day July 4, 2012 Independence Day July 22, 2012-August 4, 2012 Annual Maintenance September 3, 2012 Labor Day Pool schedule is subject to change without notice. Aqua-robics The Water’ Edge Aquatic Center offers aqua-robics to par-ticipants of all ages. This is a no impact cardio work out designed to help you lose those extra pounds without the stress on your joints. All classes are held in our dive well while you are suspended in the water. Flotation devices are provided. Classes are FREE with your membership, or simply pay the daily entrance fee to join. Yoqua Using water resistance as a way to get strong and stay in shape is a cool workout and one that leaves you wanting for more. We work with proper breathing techniques and a meditation focus while you are suspended in deep water during the exercises. If you do not know swimming, do not fret. Your safety is very important to us, we have many floatation devices available for your use, as well as a highly trained lifeguard staff to ensure safety at the facility.

The American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program The American Red Cross Learn–to-Swim program is designed to give students a positive learning experience. This program teach-es aquatic safety skills in a logical progression through six levels of courses. The objective of this program is to teach children to swim and be safe in, on and around the water. Session Dates Spring I 3/11/12- 4/21/12 6 Weeks Spring II 4/22/12–5/26/12 6 Weeks Summer I 6/3/12-7/14/12 6 Weeks (No classes 7/4/12, Make-up day 7/18/12)

Summer II 08/5/12-9/1/12 4 Weeks Course Descriptions Level 1-Introduction to Water Skills The objective of level one is to help students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. Child must be comfort-able without parent in the water. Level 2- Fundamental Aquatic Skills Students who wish to enter this course must have a Level 1 Cer-tificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion re-quirements in Level 1. The objective of Level 2 is to give students success with fundamental skills. Students learn to float without support and recover to a vertical position. Students also explore simultaneous and alternating arm and leg actions on the front and back to lay the foundation for future strokes.

Level 3-Stroke Development Students entering this course must have a Level 2 Certificate or be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 2. Students learn to coordinate the front and back crawl, and learn elements of the butterfly. Level 4- Stroke Improvement Students entering this course must have a Level 3 Certificate or be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 3. In this level students improve their skills and increase their endurance by swimming familiar strokes (front and back crawl) and introduce the fundamentals of the butterfly, side stroke, elementary back stroke, and the breast stroke. Level 5- Stroke Refinement Students entering this course must have a Level 4 Certificate or be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 4. This course develops the coordination and refinement of the strokes. Starts and turns are introduced at this level. Level 6- Swimming and Skill Proficiency Students entering this course must have a Level 5 Certificate or be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements in Level 5. In this level we refine all six strokes and prepare the swimmer for competitive swimming. This class includes personal water safety, fundamentals of diving, fitness swimming and lifeguard readiness.

Parent and Child Aquatics

Ages 6 months-5 years Resident $70 Non-resident $80 This will help develop swimming readiness by leading parents and their children in water exploration activities with the objectives of having fun and becoming comfortable in the water. Children may not pass through Parent and Child Aquatic lessons until the age of three. (One child per parent) Saturday: 9:00 am-9:30 am

Private and Semi-Private Lessons Times and dates vary, they are based on your needs and instructor availability. They are available in English, Spanish and Polish. This program is recommended to be done in conjunction with group swim lessons. Please call the Aquatic Director, to set up a swim time and instructor prior to registration. Adaptive Aquatic Lessons. These lessons are designed for those who have mental and or physical limitations. Please contact the Aquatic Director for more information. American Red Cross Health and Safety Programs The Water’s Edge Aquatic Center is proud to offer the fol-lowing American Red Cross Health and Safety programs:

Lifeguard Training/First Aid/CPR for the Pro Rescuer This course is designed to train individuals in the skills nec-essary to save a life around an aquatic setting. All students must attend all class sessions to receive certification, and must pass a pre-course swimming skills evaluation on the first night. This evaluation consists of a 300 yard swim, and retrieving a 10 pound object from 10 feet of water. Any student who does not pass the pre-course session can transfer their registration fee into the learn to swim pro-gram. We also offer, by appointment, challenges in the above curriculum. For further information on ARC classes contact the Aquatic Director at 630-670-4665. Scuba Open Water Scuba Certification – Pool & Course Sections - $285 The Water’s Edge Aquatic Center, in conjunction with Learn Scu-ba Chicago, offer the entry level scuba course: Open Water Scuba Certification. Participants must be 12 years old. The cost includes: · The PADI online eLearning Open Water course – students complete the course work at home on their own schedule. · Pool sessions – 5 pool dives over 3 sessions. Students will be able to select from available pool time offerings and complete the pool dives on their schedule. · Equipment – All scuba gear except for mask, fins and snor-kels will be provided. Students must obtain their own mask, fins and snorkel – and can either purchase them independently or from stock available through Learn Scuba Chicago. You will also need a swim suit and a towel is a good idea. Upon completion, the student still needs to complete 4 open water dives. Learn Scuba Chicago offers those classes through the dive park in Kankakee from May through September. Students can also elect to transfer their education to a warm water destination (Florida, Caribbean, etc.) and complete the certification there. RULES FOR SANITATION

Soap showers are required before entering the pool deck.

Shoulder length hair must be tied up or in a bathing cap.

No street shoes are permitted on deck.

Street shoes must be removed before entering the shower

area.

Proper swim attire must be worn in the pool; white or gray

shirts can be worn over proper swim attire. Everyone on deck must be dressed to swim (whether you get in the water or not).

Persons having bandages, open sores, cuts, etc. are ad-

vised not to swim.

No food or glass containers are allowed in the pool area

All children not able to use the restrooms must wear tight

fitting rubber or plastic pants under their swimsuit as stat-ed by the Health Department.

SAFETY REGULATIONS ACCORDING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

An adult in the water must accompany children under 7

years of age.

Children 12 and under must have an adult present.

No running, rough play or boisterous behavior is allowed

in the pool area.

No diving in shallow water 9 feet or less.

Non-swimmers must stay in the lap pool only.

Inflatable toys are not allowed in either pool; including

water wings, inner tubes, etc.

Child safety seats or strollers are not allowed in the pool

area.

No one is allowed to enter the pool until the lifeguards or

instructors are in position.

Everyone must clear the pool once the lifeguard has

blown the whistle.

Jumping and/or standing on flotation devices is strictly

prohibited.

Notify swimmers in a lane before you enter and start

swimming. Current swimmers have the right of way.

If there are more than two swimmers per lane, you must

swim counterclockwise (stay to the right side of the lane).

Use of starting blocks are prohibited during open swim.

DIVE WELL POLICY

Only one person on the diving board at a time.

Toys or flotation devices are not allowed in the diving well.

(Excluding noodles)

No goggles allowed, masks only.

Divers must exit before next diver may take their turn.

Masks or snorkels are not allowed off of the diving board

at any time. They are however, allowed for swimming if individuals can properly demonstrate clearing the mask of water, while submerged. Standard goggles are not al-lowed in the dive well at any time.

The dive well will be typically closed during open swim

hours and may be opened at a manager’s discretion. The lifeguard(s) on duty are responsible for enforcing the above rules and any additional policies to ensure the safety of all swim-mers and staff. The Water’s Edge Aquatic Director and staff reserve the right to close any lap lanes or pool areas at any time.

Learn To Skate Basic Information Skate Rental - Figure and hockey skates are available to rent for $2.00 per lesson for Learn To Skate classes and $3.00 for every Public Skate. For your convenience, skate rental punch cards are available for Learn To Skate classes only. Punch cards are non-refundable if lost or stolen. Dress for warmth but no need to bulk. Light jackets or sweatshirts are usually fine. Pants or sweatpants are pre-ferred, no snow pants or snowsuit. GLOVES ARE A MUST. Helmets are optional. Skaters progressing to freestyle levels are required to wear figure skating attire, no jeans permitted. Classes meet once a week, but you may enroll in more than one class for a discounted price. Most classes run 40 minutes. Tot classes are 30 minutes of instruction and 10 minutes of fun time. Parents only are permitted to join them on the ice during this time (skate rental fees apply if needed). Make-up Policy Make-ups will be permitted ONLY if class spaces allows. Only 1 make-up per session. Skater must obtain a “make-up” slip prior to showing up for class. No class make-ups on the first 2 weeks of a session or last week of a session. NO MAKE-UPS WILL BE PERMITTED DURING THE WINTER SESSION. Refund Policy Refund requests and or credits will be granted only until the end of the second week of classes, less the fee of clas-ses attended. Registration fee is non-refundable. Full re-funds and credits will be given only in cases of medical necessity, with a doctor’s note. Registration Fee There is a yearly registration and processing fee of $15.00. Registration fee includes membership to the Ice Skating Institute, the largest recreational figure skating organiza-tion in the country (non-refundable). Registration fee will be waived if skater can provide proof of current ISI mem-bership. Copy of card must accompany class registration. Learn To Skate The Edge Ice Arena offers Learn To Skate classes for all ag-es, beginning from 3 years old to adult and all abilities. Whether you are an aspiring future Olympian or just want to skate for the fun and exercise, there is a class for you. Our experienced, professional figure skating staff is eager to share their knowledge and love of the sport. Reasonably priced classes are offered during the week and Saturdays to accommodate busy schedules. For more information re-garding group skating lessons or private instruction, contact the figure skating director. Basic Class Information Detailed class descriptions are available at the front desk. All Learn To Skate classes are held at The Edge Ice Arena - John Street. Tots - Beginning skaters between the ages of 3-5 years old. Pre-Alpha 1 - Beginning skaters ages 6 and older. Alpha - Forward skating skills, stroking and crossovers. Pre-requisite pre-alpha or instructor approval. Beta - Backward skating skills, back crossovers, t-stops, and turns. Pre-requisite Alpha or instructor approval. Gamma - Advanced review of above and variety of turns. Pre-requisite Beta or instructor approval. Delta - Advanced review of above, turns, edges, and lunges. Pre-requisite Gamma or instructor approval. Freestyle Levels - Variety of footwork, jumps, spins, varying in difficulty by skill level. Pre-requisite Delta for FS 1, FS 1 for FS 2, FS 2 for FS 3, etc. or figure skating director approval. Teen/Adult - Open to all adults. No skill level required. In-struction is geared toward each individuals ability. Students are encouraged in a non-intimating environment. Synchronized Skating– Synchronized Skating , a fast grow-ing discipline, consists of 8-20 skaters moving as one. Skat-ers experience teamwork, skills building, and long lasting friendships. Summer Lean-To-Skate and Basic Ice Skater Training for Alpha-Delta Skaters Includes on and off ice training. Skaters will learn stretch and core exercises related to figure skating, proper skating body positions, jumping , rotation exercises with time for dance and music interpretation. On ice classes include skill review with incorporation of new maneuvers. Skaters must have gym shoes and proper attire for off ice classes (skating or ballet clothes). Minimum 4 registrations per class. Director reserves the right to combine classes if needed.

The Chicago Blues have a great learn to skate program that is designed for boys and girls ages 4-14 years of age. This program will cover all the basics in order to get your child to a higher level. The USA Hockey certified direc-tors will cover the following:

Forward skating, stopping, starting, turns, the proper skating stance and much more.

Players will need the following equipment:

Helmet with a cage, elbow pads, shin guards, hockey gloves, stick and skates (Skate Rental is available)

Players will receive one free Blues Jersey per year

The Junior Blues Hockey Program is a Minor Mite - Pee Wee

House League that stresses fun and top-flight instruction in

an introductory format with high-quality instruction from USA

Hockey-certified instructors. This feeder program places doz-

ens of players each year onto competitive travel hockey

teams.

The Junior Blues house league program is designed to teach

all the fundamentals to kids in order to ensure they are ready

to become part of the Blues. This is a developmental hockey

program that focuses on skating, shooting, passing and all

other facets of the game that will prepare your child to move

up to the next level. The junior blues program will also play ex-

hibition practices against other youth developmental hockey

program to give the kids a taste of competition and playing in

other rinks.

The ice slots are broken down on a daily basis as follows: 15

minutes of skating, 15-20 minutes of station work that will fo-

cus on shooting, passing, skating and various other skills, 15

minutes of scrimmage time and the final 10 minutes will be

back to skating. The program is designed to teach the kids

skating, the best way to be a successful player is to be a great

The Green Teen Zone is a FREE drop-in center for Bensenville Middle School stu-dents(grades 6-8).

The Green Teen Zone is a place where youth can get involved in a number of ar-tistic, educational, and athletic activities that embrace Bensenville’s community values and expectations.

Our mission is to provide Bensenville Middle School students with a safe place to go after school and create a supervised environment in which the students can be engaged in positive, affordable activities to build character, reinforce education and promote healthy development.

PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT, SWIMMING AND SKATING EQUIPMENT RENTAL AGREEMENT, RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK BY SIGNING THIS DOCU-

MENT YOU ARE ENTERING INTO A CONTRACT WHEREIN YOU MAY BE WAIVING CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO Sue. TO The Edge Ice Arenas (“Arena”), Water’s Edge

Aquatic Center (“Aquatic Center”), the Village of Bensenville, their owners, directors, agents, employees, and/or representat ives of the above listed organizations.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK: I am aware that ice skating and swimming involve certain inherent risks, dangers and hazards which can result in serious personal injury or death. I am also aware

that ice skating arenas and the aquatic center contain potential dangers to the ice skating and swimming public. As such, I hereby freely agree to assume and accept any and all known and

unknown risks of injury while participating in ice skating and aquatic center activities. I further recognize and acknowledge that the risks inherent in the sport of ice skating and swimming

can be greatly reduced by taking lessons, abiding by the Skater Responsibility Code and the Swimming Responsibility Code (now known as your “Responsibility Code”) and by using common

sense.

RELEASE AND WAIVER OF CLAIMS AGREEMENT: In consideration of allowing me to participate in the Arena’s Ice Skating programs and the Aquatic Center’s swimming lessons; in considera-

tion of the loan or rental to me of skating and swimming equipment, I hereby agree to the fullest, and extent permitted by law as follows: 1. TO ACCEPT FOR USE AS IS any equipment loaned

or rented to me and to keep it in my possession at all times.

2. TO WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS that I have or may in the future have against the Arena and the Aquatic Center, any of the parties named above and/or the Rental Shop and 3. TO RE-

LEASE the Arena, the Aquatic Center and any party named above and/or the Rental Shop from any and all liability for any loss, damage, injury or expense that I may suffer, or that my next of

kin may suffer, arising from the ice skating and swimming programs at the Arena and the Aquatic Center and as a result of my participation in the Arena’s ice skating programs and the

Aquatic Center’s swimming programs and the use of the equipment loaned or rented to me, due to any cause whatsoever, including negligence of breach of contract regarding the design,

manufacture, selection, installation, maintenance or adjustment of the equipment and in the operation, supervision, design, or maintenance of the Arena and the Aquatic Center.

ARBITRATION: In consideration of allowing me to participate in the Arena’s ice skating programs and the Aquatic Center’s lessons, and in the consideration of the loan or rental to me of ice

skating and swimming equipment, I hereby agree to submit to binding arbitration any and all claims which I believe I may have against the Arena and the Aquatic Center’s, the above named

parties and/or the Rental Shop arising from my participation in the Arena’s ice skating programs and the Aquatic Center’s swimming programs and use of the equipment loaned or rented to

me. The arbitration shall be pursuant to the rules of the American Arbitration Association. The arbitrators shall apply the Federal Rules of Evidence to all proceedings. Arbitration shall be

commenced within one (1) year from the date on which any alleged claim first arose. Further, the arbitration shall be held in the town where the Arena and Aquatic Center is located, unless

otherwise mutually agreed to by all parties. The submission to the American Arbitration Association shall be unlimited and the arbitration award may be enforced by any court of competent

jurisdiction.

BINDING EFFECT OF AGREEMENT: In the event of my death or incapacity, this Agreement shall be effective and binding upon heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators, assigns and repre-

sentatives. ENTIRE AGREEMENT: In entering into this Agreement, I am not relying upon any oral or written representation other than what is set forth in this Agreement I HAVE READ AND

UNDERSTAND THIS AGREEMENT AND I AM AWARE THAT BY SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT I AM WAIVING CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE THE ARENA AND THE AQUATIC
