REGIONAL DIRECTOR’S WELCOME

I am delighted to welcome all competitors, parents, team and event officials and supporters to the 2012 NSW CHS Lawn Bowls Championships.

School sport championships and carnivals, organised and conducted by our state and regional school sport associations, showcase the enormous talent that is nurtured in our schools. They encourage competitors to participate in the spirit of friendship, fair play and respect for others.

The students participating in these Championships are representing their state, region and school sports associations. They have already set and achieved personal and team goals. Whilst not every competitor will be a

champion, you can all be winners by trying to achieve your Personal Best.

I would like to thank the teachers, principals, parents, community sports organisations and our corporate sponsors who continue to support our sport programs.

I would particularly like to thank Mr Mark Hume, Regional Sports Organiser, Mr Chris Meizer, Carnival Manager, and the South Coast School Sports Association for organising this event.

I hope that your participation will be rewarding in terms of both team and personal performances and that you will return home with great memories of your involvement in these Championships.

Congratulations in your success in reaching this level of competition and best wishes for an enjoyable event.

NSW CHS CONVENER’S WELCOME

It is with great pleasure that I welcome all players, managers, parents and other supporters to the 2012 NSWCHS Lawn Bowls Championships. Many of you have travelled great distances to be here and we hope that the experience is rewarding for you.

Congratulations to all of our competitors on your selection in your Regional side. This is a great achievement in itself; however you will all be closely watched by the CHS Selectors over the next few days with the view to selecting a side of deserving players to represent NSWCHS at our Exchange event in Port Macquarie in September. Good luck to you all.

This year we return to the birthplace of this event – Warilla. Having rotated through the ten Educational Regions, we celebrate our second decade of State Carnivals with a special “Legends” event. 16 of our most talented graduates of this program will compete against each other in exhibition matches on the indoor surface on the Tuesday afternoon and evening.

There have been a great number of people involved in organising and planning this event over the past several months. Sincere thanks must be extended to:

The Regional Conveners and Managers. These dedicated teachers spend many hours of their personal time to ensure that our students receive these representative opportunities. A lot of time and effort goes into organising their own trials and the necessary planning to bring their players to this event.

Warilla Bowls & Recreation Club. A wonderful team of workers and administrators who have strived to ensure that this event runs smoothly. I am sure that you will agree that the Club will have superbly catered for the needs of Managers, players and their supporters and have been excellent hosts. Their generosity in terms of time, support and facilities is greatly appreciated.

The Regional Sports Organiser (Rel), Mark Hume and Carnival Manager, Chris Meizer. Chris, Mark and team have been tireless in their organisation of this event over several months.

I hope that all our players enjoy the carnival and leave the event with fond and lasting memories. I am sure that many new friendships will be made. Many of you will be renewing acquaintances from previous years and other events. May all of you bowl to the best of your ability and, above all else, enjoy yourselves whilst doing so.
