BLUE KNIGHT HEAD COACH LAUREN LEWICKIUrbana University Athletic Director Doug Young announced the hiring of new Blue Knight women's soccerhead coach Lauren Lewicki in December of 2010. Lewicki becomes the fourth head coach in the program's14-year history.

"We were thrilled to find someone as enthusiastic and motivated as Lauren to lead our women's soccerprogram," said Young.

In her first season at the helm, Lewicki guided the Blue Knights to an overall mark of 5-12-1, an improvementupon the previous season. Most impressively, the Blue Knights finished 5-2-1 at home under the first-yearhead coach.

Lewicki comes to Urbana from Defiance College, where she served as both an assistant on the men's andwomen's soccer teams. As a first-year assistant coach for the women's team in 2009, Lewicki guided theYellow Jackets to a DC Classic Tournament title, and saw two of her players earn all-conference recognition.

For the men, Lewicki served primarily as a goalkeeper's coach, a position she excelled at playing forNCAA Division II Wheeling Jesuit University. At WJU, Lewicki was a three-time team captain. She led the

Cardinals to a 59-26 record during her career, including a trip to the NCAA Regional Tournament in 2005. Along with being a three-time all-conference performer, Lewicki earned all-regional status in 2005 and was tabbed an NCAA Scholar Athlete in 2008.

"I'm really excited to begin my career as a head coach at Urbana," Lewicki explained. "I believe the University and I are at similar stages ofdevelopment. Urbana is new to Division II, and we're both growing. I feel like the sky's the limit for this program."

The Erie, Pa., native began her coaching career working with teams at the high school and club soccer levels. She also served as a studentassistant for the Cardinals in 2006 while she was sidelined due to injury.
