HORTICULTURE AnD DesiGn CouRses

GArdeninG Grow Your Own Perennials Learn how to collect and sow your own perennial seeds in this fun and informative class. Discussions will include classification, propagation, and basic landscaping. Practical hands-on seed sowing and transplanting will take place and participants will take home up to 10 types of unique perennials to add to their home garden. Hobby Greenhouse Gardening Everything the homeowner and gardener needs to know about greenhouse gardening. Discussions include use of materials, seeding dates, pest control, bench plants and much more. Participants will leave with their own cuttings to plant at home. Pruning 101 This informative workshop will cover all the basic techniques of pruning, as well as up-to-date and modern concepts. Discussions will include where and how to prune shrubs and trees. Grow Your Own Annuals This course provides you with a wide selection of unusual and colourful annuals to take home to your garden. Introduction to Permaculture As a design science based on principles found in ecology, permaculture teaches us how to work with, rather than against, nature. With far reaching applications, and an emphasis on food production and sustainability, permaculture design will leave you thinking like an ecosystem and have you creating beautiful, biologically diverse, and ecologically healthy food producing systems. Fruit Growing Expand your fruit growing knowledge with help from horticulturalist, Thean Pheh. Grow Your Own Bonsai In this informative course, students will get the chance to practice and train their own bonsai during class. Introduction to Grafting This course focuses on up-to-date and new techniques to propagate and regenerate a favorite ornamental tree or multiple-graft fruit trees. Spring Mushrooms Join mushroom expert Mike Schulz as we learn about the mushrooms of spring!
