If the machine was delivered in a crate, the slideway handles will have been reversed.

These should b e fitted as illustrated on pages 4* 1/4-2

To prepare you r Bridgeport if del ivery is made with the m ill ing head in an Upside down

position:-

a) Lowe r knee approximately 150 mm (6” ).

b) Withdraw the safety pin on the left hand side o f ram adaptor (illustrated on page 2-3)

c) Slacken the four unit head mounting bolts.d ) Support unit head manually and use a spanner on swivel bolt (fig. b ) to wind into

upright position.

e) Press the safety pin back into the ram adaptor after passing the 25 ° mark.

0 Tighten the four unit head mounting bolts.

For continuous operation in the horizon tal plane the head lubrication system must be

m odified (drawing supplied on request).

To set a mill ing head square to th e table, tw o methods are available;-

(i ) Using a large 9 0 ° set square moun ted on the table, align faces with square.

(i i) An indicator mounted in the spindle nose travelling in a 115 mm (4V4M) radius. U

is important that each axis is set separately and locked.
