Fedot Sychkov (March 1, 1870, p. Kochelaevo, Penza Province (now in the territory of Mordovia), the Russian Empire - August 3, 1958, Saransk, Mordovia ASSR, USSR) - the famous Russian (Soviet) artist, Honored Artist of the RSFSR and the Mordovian ASSR People's Artist of Mordovia ASSR.Fedot Sychkov born into a poor peasant family in the village Kochelaevo. Since childhood, Fedot Sychkov showed talent for painting. He worked in the icon-painting studio, wrote the frescoes in the churches, carried portraits from photographs.In 1892 he moved to St. Petersburg, in the School of Drawing Society for the Encouragement of Arts, with the support of General IA Arapova (1844-1913), drew attention to the talented young self-taught artist. In 1895, F. Sychkov graduated from the School of Drawing and became a volunteer at the Higher Art School at the Academy of Fine Arts.
