Presidents ReportHi everyoneOn Thursday last Paul (Jerra), Bill
C (Qbn West) and Bill H (Qbn) completed the last of the
paving and the final work on the retaining wall. It looks
fantastic. Thanks to all whoparticipated.On Wednesday I presented a
cheque for $480 to Ben of the QHS SRC Interact Club for thework at
the gnomes at Floriadegreat work.Last week we had a successful
Board meeting and on Saturday our Christmas Party.Everyone came,
the food was great, the company excellent and the presentslots of
fun
great resourcefulness by many. Bly, Joy and Doug did a great job
on the gift distributionTim Overall picked the first one and had
the fun time of going around and checkingeveryones presents at the
end to choose what he wanted! We had our Federal Member PeterHendy,
the Mayor Tim Overall, our Assistant Governor Lynne Duckham, our
Honorarymembers, our widows, some of the Shop ladies, an Interactor
and some family membersthank you all for making it a fun party.
Thanks to Nicole for taking the photos of theChristmas partyshe did
a great job!On Tuesday 17 December I will attend the awards night
for Queanbeyan High School whata great year the Interactors have
had.
No meeting this weeknext one 15 January 2014! Next newsletter

NYSF Rotary Dinners
Come for a good dinner, inspiring company, and fellowship. Come
in support of a great youth program.
Your Club might like to substitute a weekly meeting with a
Dinner, or come anyway to an enjoyableactivity. The Rotary Club of
Ginnindera will be host.Meet the students attending the NYSF. They
come from all over, and are some of the best science studentsin the
country. Hear a prominent scientist who is invited to address the
students. Arrive early to chat withthe students, then well sit down
withthem to eat.This year registration and payment have moved
online, via the home page of the District web site. Just go
tohttp://www.rotaryd9710.org.au/and follow the prompts. There
will be no paying by cash on thenight.Please register bySunday 15
December 2013. Any cancellations, please advise the Chairman by
theSunday before each Dinner.
NYSF Home HostingThis is where there is a real need, and where
we can make a real difference.
NYSF students are young and far away from home. They will be
happy and excited - but very, very tired.In the middle of each
Session they will need a day to rest, do their washing, and
recharge batteries before
facing a second intensive week. And for Rotarians, Home Hosting
can be a wonderful experience.
The dates for home hosting are Sunday 12 January and Sunday 26
Januaryyes, share Australia Day withthem. The times: from 9:00am to
8:00pm. Please participate if you can, and take on 2, 3 or 4
students, foreach Session if possible.Registration for home hosting
is also online, via the home page of the District web site. Just go
to
http://www.rotaryd9710.org.au/and follow the prompts. Please
register by Sunday 15 December
2013.NB: Students will be allocated to hosts in advance, and
Rotarians will know in advance who theirstudents are. Members will
meet their pre-allocated students on the Dinner night (if they go
to it) or meetthem on the Sunday morning. Unlike in previous years,
no students will approach Rotarians on the Dinnernights, asking to
be taken home.
Even if you cant come to a Dinner,please offer to home host -
the students will benefit.
