Purpose of the DCV Report
Analyzing discipline, crime, and violence helps School
Leaders:
• Promote school safety and student learning
• Replace hunches with facts
• Explore the causes of problems
• Identify needs so that services can be targeted
• Determine if goals are being accomplished
• Understand the impact of prevention and intervention
Incident Reporting
• Incident based
• All offenses required to be reported
• 365 days a year/24 hours a day/7 days a week on school property and school sponsored events
Violations of the Student Code of Conduct are reported as incidents.
A single incident:
▫ May involve one or more offenses.
▫ May involve one or more students.
▫ May result in a disciplinary outcome for each student involved.
Division-wide Discipline Review
• Overall, the number of incidents division-wide are declining as enrollment increases.
• The number of division-wide incidents in SY 13-14 decreased by 9% when compared to the average over the previous 4 years and by 4% from the previous school year.
• N0 Persistently Dangerous Points in the last 2 years. Down from 12 in 2009.
