The Assisted Living Innovation Platform is promoting independent living and improved quality of life by ensuring that products, systems and services for independent living are relevant, affordable, acceptable, scalable and marketable.The Technology Strategy Board launched the ALIP in November 2007 with additional funding from the DH's National Institute for Health Research, the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council, and the Economic and Social Research Councils.

The Innovation Platform is delivering a wide ranging programme to enable the ageing population and those with long-term health conditions to live with greater independence.

About the Showcase Welcome to the 2013 ALIP Showcase – The Evolving Journey. This is the 5th Annual ALIP showcase and will be held at the Liverpool Football Club. This year’s conference promises to build on the success of the 2012 showcase which attracted over 160 delegates from more than 80 organisations. There will be an opportunity to meet key industry players in the assisted living arena. The conference will highlight the existing projects and showcase their achievements and milestones during the last 12 months. Delegates will have the opportunity to meet senior Technology Strategy Board representatives and be able to interact and network with potential partners including businesses and academics currently funded under the Assisted Living Innovation Platform.

The Evolving Journey will demonstrate the breadth and wealth of innovation coming out of the UK in developing assisted living technologies. The conference will open the debate to discuss the future for these technologies and services and update the community on the next steps by the Technology Strategy Board. These presentations and case studies showcasing the outputs and achievements of the Assisted Living Innovation Platform will help you learn more about the sector and the great opportunities for businesses and collaboration.

Conference Exhibition This year will feature an exciting exhibition showcasing the latest innovations from UK Assisted Living technology sector. As part of this exhibition the ALIP showcase will be launching the Mi Smarthouse Liverpool, this purpose-built home features all new, up to date technology and devices - providing you with first-hand experience of how technology can be used to enhance independence.

Networking / Drinks Reception During the lunch break delegates will be given an opportunity to join a Liverpool Football Club tour. The tour lasts for 20 minutes and will give delegates a chance to visit an executive box and view the stadium from the Centenary Stand. Delegates are invited to join the networking drinks reception which will be held in the celebrated ‘Trophy Room’ which is also home to the European Cup. There will also be a short tour including the Hillsborough memorial and player’s dressing room.

Assisted Living UK Capabilities and Opportunity Report and WebsiteThe application of technology to facilitate the delivery of health and social care has developed rapidly in the past 15 years and in Assisted Living a portfolio of products and services are now available to be prescribed for a patient by the statutory services or available to be selected by them. The ALIP programme has commissioned a report of the Assisted Living UK capabilities and opportunities which forms a ‘virtual catalogue’ of such products and services currently in existence. The virtual catalogue contains all the examples of assistive technology, telecare, telemedicine, telehealth, telehealthcare, e-health and m-health developed to date.

This report is designed to stimulate and support the development and uptake of assisted living products and services by reporting on existing care needs and provision, identifying existing assisted living activity and suppliers and identifying sources of expertise. The analysis of the data then provides an initial guide for those in the public sector who are tasked with introducing assisted living services in their region and for organisations in the voluntary and private sectors who feel there is an opportunity to develop assisted living products and services.
