    Kumeroa-HopelandsSchoolisaruralprimaryschoolsituated10minutesfromWoodvilleand

    approximately30minutesfromPalmerstonNorth.Theschoolwasformedafteraneducationareareview

    resultedintheamalgamationofKumeroaandHopelandsSchoolsin1994andthemergerwithKohinui

    Schoolin2008.Weareafullprimary,decile4schoolwitharolebetween60-70students,10%ofwhichare

    Mori.

    TheschoolislocatedinthetownshipofKumeroaadjacenttotheCommunityHall,TennisClubandSt

    AndrewsAnglicanChurch.TheManawatuRiverpassestothewestoftheschoolgrounds.Therearethree

    classrooms,alibraryandanadministrationblock.Alargeadventureplaygroundborderstheplayingfield

    shelteredbyanumberofwellestablishedtrees.

    KumeroaSchoolwasfirstestablishedin1884.ThenameKumeroahasitsrootsfromthetimewhen

    travellerstravelleduptheManawatuRivertotheCentralHawkesBay.Theworstgravelbanksand

    shallowswerefoundinKumeroa(kume-topull,roa-long).

    Today,Kumeroa-Hopelandsmaintainsanopen,friendlyandwelcomingenvironmentforstudents,parentsandcommunity,alongwithasupportiveBoardofTrusteesandcommunity.Theschoolandcommunity

    celebratesandidentifiesstronglywithitsruralhistoryandtradition.Activefundraisingwithinthe

    communityprovidesenhancedresourcesandopportunitiesforlearning.Asaresult,theschooliswell

    resourced,withanexcellentrangeofteachingandlearningmaterials.
